    Hey man awesome video just like the rest! Quick question, I have a 2006 crf250r and was gonna install a 2009 cam shaft, I was wondering if there was anything else that I needed to change like the valves or the valve springs or would it run just fine with cam and stock valves and springs?

      Thanks. I our an 08 cam which is the same cam as 09 in my 06 and I made sire to get new cutters (hold valve stem to top spring retainer) and 08/09 springs. Valves are the same. May as well and go ahead and get a new timing chain also for safe measures if it's been a while. That way you don't have to worry about it.

      @@Fixin2Ride-Official- I’m sorry I’m a little confused when u say new cutters what do you mean by that? And good thing my timing chain already needs replaced lol

      Sorry I meant cotters. They are the little wedges that go around the valve stem at the top and lock the stem to the spring so the valves are pulled back up

      @@Fixin2Ride-Official- so I need the 08/09 valve springs and is it just new cotters or the 08/09 cotters? Does the cotters need to be replaced or could I get by without them?

      Yes 08/09 springs and new cutters to ensure no mishaps. They're cheap insurance

    I screwed something up and had to take it do the dealer to get the chain and cam set correctly. .

      @@Fixin2Ride-Official- I think it had something to do with tensioner...when I released it the cam rotated backwards and threw the timing off...thanks for your help.

      @mikeschlup5279 Yeah you just have to take the tension off again, remove the cam caps, move the chain side bearing over and walk the chain over the right direction.

      @@Fixin2Ride-Official- we tried that and had the same results...I think what I did the third time was vise grip the cam in the correct spot and then release the cam chain tensioner gently..

    Bro I need help, why does my cam shaft get stuck when turning the motor over? It rotates half then stops on top of the intake buckets

    • @Fixin2Ride-Official-
      @Fixin2Ride-Official-  Рік тому +1

      Put your piston at top dead center on the compression stroke. Your intake lobes should be facing the rear tire and only pointing up a few degrees and the two lines on the outside of the cam gear should be parallel with the top surface of the cylinder head. Are you getting that?

    • @DuKe3gammed3Fan
      @DuKe3gammed3Fan Рік тому

      Okay that’s probably what I’m doing wrong I timed it with the mark on the right side and lined the marks on the cam with the motor. So I just didn’t set it on the compression stroke.

    • @Fixin2Ride-Official-
      @Fixin2Ride-Official-  Рік тому +1

      Yep. So the valves open at the wrong time and stops the piston from cycling through TDC. Thanks for watching. All I ask is for a share of any video and or the channel on your social media accounts at least one time for me to help spread the word. Thank you!

    i dont think my crank and ignition timing are lining up can you help?

    • @Fixin2Ride-Official-
      @Fixin2Ride-Official-  8 місяців тому +2

      Just have to compare them? Keep in mind the punch mark on the crank gear is for reference of TDC of the piston. Then line up the marks on the flywheel. Then the cam line should be perfectly level with the top line of the cylinder head.
      Are you thinking your flywheel key sheered?

      That’s been tripping me up on my 450x, when the mark on the crank gear lines up then the T mark on the flywheel doesn’t and cam lines are out, but when I line up the T mark on the flywheel the cam is lined up 🤔 at tdc

      How far off is the crank punch mark when you line the flywheel and cam?

      @klintthompson5535 then your crank key has severed. Yiu need to remove the cam and chain and then the stator cover and rhen flywheel and replace the flywheel key.
