  • Cool to see a small USAF jet! :) It was quite hard to film it because it is small and quite fast so sorry for the shaky shots!

    And although this bird didn't verify it, Lear's can also climb very steep right from takeoff.
    Back in late 1998, just after Christmas but before New Year's 1999 and while I was paying my hometown airport a visit, Tyler Pounds Field Regional (KTYR), I got to see a Lear 60XR in action for the first time. The tiny plane just came by for a fuel stop. It was an overcast day, and when that bird was ready for departure, once leaving the ground it disappeared above the low cloud ceiling within a few seconds! The angle of attack must have been at least 40 degrees or more! Hats off to the crew of that plane, whoever you were...

    Oh, yes indeed, Learjet's are extremely fast for corporate jets. I swear they're almost as fast as some subsonic fighter planes, such as the AV-8B Super Harrier jump jet.
