- No more toxic waste, we have the new flesh wall outline complete. All the ghouls are maxed out and flame resistant. We even have the final anomaly event. Timing could have been better for having to move my PC setup but I need to see the end of Anomaly. I am so curious to find out what the final two things are.

It's funny to think that in the stock Anomaly scenario, your starting ghoul was actually just one of your normal shipmates who got transformed by the arcotech blast that crashed the ship. I like to imagine everyone called Arseny 'dumbshit' behind his back for years and then when they realized he wasn't going to respond, that just became his official name.
Bored. Bored. Bored. Bored. Bored. Peshet was sooo bored. There was nothing to do anymore. No fighting. No nothing. Just ... she didn't even know WHAT she was doing all day long. She had gotten so bored that even cleaning all the toxic waste had started to sound like a good idea. Every time there was a little bit of action, they'd send the ghouls to deal with it and that was that. Peshet sighed. She missed the old days. The days when it was like "Peshet! You have to get out and drag a whole bunch of shamblers into those mechs over there! You are the only one who can save us!"
That had been so. much. fun. She wondered when she had last killed someone. She didn't even remember anymore. She would be sad, if it weren't for the Yunnerses. Bored. So! Bored!
Thoughtfully, Peshet eyed the monolith. In her mind, it screamed at her: "YOU WANT SOME ACTION??! WELL, COME AND GET SOME!!!"
Tempting. So very tempting.
I was a little surprised that there was a Yunners getting a proper name until I saw who suggested the name 😂

I'm sure it has nothing to do with the mysterious cubes from a Dr Who episode, which lulled an entire planet into ignoring them, by doing absolutely nothing for an extended amount of time, until the day arrived when they did actually do.... something.
@@wolfen210959 I actually didn't make the parallels, it's true that it could really have been a similar thing but (unfortunately) the cube's effect is pretty different from the Dr Who cubes. It would have been pretty cool, though, ngl ! Technically you kind of already get somewhat of an idea of what it does in the video only Francis took immediate measures which didn't let things spiral our of control and, therefore, it's a bit hard to really see the actual effects here.

You forgot the Bioferrite slave collar.
Bioferrite bonus is based on quality. Your club doesn't have quality, so it doesn't get the bioferrite bonus. Legendary gets 120% instead of 115%.
This means you can use bioferrite daggers too.
Blind bonus is added *after* the bioferrite bonus. As far as I'm aware it's the only bonus not multiplied by bioferrite.
Without deathrest you gotta feed them or they die.

I'm really sad you haven't seen any of the real cube shenanigans yet.
You will note that we can see the final evolved form of the Golden Cube in the end credits. The Golden Fluffboi. People are drawn to touch the fluffboi, when separated from the fluffboi, they become sad.
Has anyone else noticed how the ghouls frequently oneshot humans by ripping their head off? This is so savage!
15:50 (and 26:10) Gene pack for ghouls.
Add "naked speed" (for more speed) and "furskin" (for even more cold protection) to cloned ghouls and call it a day.
Both genes from yattkins (so these "normal" ghouls already have both - and could be scaned without hunting for these pesky outsiders).

Gene implantation comes with 2 steps: 1'st - old xenogerm deleted. 2'nd - new one - implanted. All within split of a second. But that moment in-between "1'st" and "2'nd" you had a pawn without both heart and "deathless" gene - while pawn needs at least one of these to be alive...

I absolutely adore how FJ made a mockery of all the eldrich horrors, especially how otherworldly creatures 1st got half frozen then turned into industrial level farm/power plant. Love it!

20:58 bioferrite bonus depends on quality ,starting at 6% for awful and up to 20 % for legendary, that's why club is useless, it has no quality. also dont forget bioferrite slave collars, since everyone can wear them.
The bioferite slave collar is the very best tip I gotten from the comment section. Not just because of more neural heat, but improved ritual quality and less time meditating. Big thanks to whoever first suggested it

I think what happened at 36:10 was the way the gene replacement works, I think, is that it removes the xenogerm then gives them the new one, but seeing as ThinkImACloneNow was already "dead" and in a death coma in the tick where it removed the old genes and before the new ones are added there was a pawn without a heart, extreme malnutrition and didn't have deathless so it killed them, then gave them the new genes which didn't bring them back from the death

I am strangely okay with Warmachine getting shot off somewhere. This deranged colony set out to study the occult, but power and temptation went too far as they performed dangerous rituals and pumped a strange little girl full of every arcane thing they could get their hands on, altering her genes, creating an army of super-clones that became ghouls, vampires, and psychic vegetables. In their hubris, she became TOO POWERFUL and HAD TO GO
About the devourers, there are a few ways you can fight them other than manhunter pulse.
1)They can't shallow anything with a body size of 3.5 or more, so tame elephants, megasloths and thrumbos; allied war queens and diabolus; and shamblers made from elephants, megasloths, thrumbos, and devourers are all immune. It's technically possible to melee block with those and to shoot behind them, but your shooters can't stand right behind. You need to be outside the devourers' leap range. That range is quite long so inevitably your shooters will hit your melee blockers in the back. I think it's probably best just to your large fighters deal with them.
2)They move at 3.5 c/s, which means they are susceptible to kiting. Though it won't be the easiest quite. Remember that you need to be out of leap range, not just out of melee range.
3)You opposite of the "too large to shallow" approach. While they are devouring a pawn, they are sitting ducks. So one strategy would be to overwhelm them with lots of disposable pawns. The easiest is probably shamblers raised with the deadlife packs/shells/traps. But you can also use war urchins or quickly reproducing animals like rats. Be careful if you call in allied reinforcement: if you shoot at a devour while it'd devouring an allied, it are likely to shoot the emerging allied after the devourer dies which will quickly turn your ally into an enemy.
4)Fire. As soon as they catch fire, they immediately regurgitate anything they were shallowing. They also don't seam capable to put themselves out except when they leap. They will try to chase your people or to attack your walls if your people aren't accessible. Because of this, this works well combined with kiting. Also fire seams extremely good at downing them without killing them.
Unfortunately, you can't nugget them. They don't have legs. Their moving is controlled by their torso (their torso is called "moving body" in the code). They are also immune to both hypothermia and heat stroke. They do have a spine, but it has such a large health pool, I haven't found any way to destroy it without destroying the moving body first..
"we scooped out their eyes, so they're actually much stronger now" is wrong on so many different levels, that I don't even know where to begin.

I was pleasantly surprised when the cube dropped near your base from void provocation. in 3 playthroughs i only got it from the same quest that you got your first revenant spine from. distressed people calling you, offering insane reward for taking something they dont want to tell you about. you either get the revenant spine or the cube from them. neat to see it can just drop randomely too!

It's definitely intentional. Because previously, manhunter pulse are just too weaksauce and are most effective only when you got a herd of big animal like rhino, elephant or thrumbo in the area, not fitting for a Lv 6 psycast.
Now it become the bane of herd-type Anomaly, finally fitting as a Lv 6 Psycast with neuroquake and berserk pulse
idk man. if you'd ask me i'd say the whole psycasting thingy is OP. it trivializes quite a few gameplay elements (like farskip or the words), is brutal in combat given the micromanagement (berserk pulse, stun, skip, invisibility), and now it just takes any challenge out of the anomaly thingies. personaly i'm doing just fine without the royalty dlc.
@@nait5340 The whole royalty DLC is OP. It's just Manhunter pulse aren't as OP as the rest of it's class. Like comparing it to a guaranteed friendly feud of berserk pulse, the movement ease of farskip and the anti-raid ticket of Neuroquake, it's soo much weaker
So changing it to a herd-anomaly bane is fair game in term of OPness

If psycasting was restricted to pawns with royal titles, or vampires being juiced up on 20 prisoners worth of hemogen, then that level of power might make sense, but even then...
Any rando with psy powers can stare at a wall and single handedly defeat an entire raid, regardless of the raid size or difficulty.
You could nerf the heat cost, focus cost, aoe, range, AND duration, and it would still be OP.
@@nait5340 It's a bit like the arguments surrounding killboxes, some people don't like them, but also think other people shouldn't be allowed to use them, hence the mockery of those who do. Everything in the game is fair to use, in my opinion, seeing as it's my money that paid for the game, I'll use anything in the game that I want, how I want, and as often as I want.
There is a mod "Do Until" filter. you may like which allows you to specify specific meat for the do until x meat for butchery
Bioferrite slave collar is also thematically correct and provides the psychic sensitivity benefit.

Hey francis, I've got an idea for your next playthrough: what about playing and fighting only with zones, and never actually controlling your pawns directly (with some exceptions like sending someone to talk with some merchants)? It would make for a very difficult but fun experience!
The psychic sensitivity bonus of bioferrite equipment is based on their quality. Club don't have quality. That's why clubs don't give psychic sensitivity bonus.

Francis - as you enjoyed many "space sim/x4" games I'm quite suprised you never did Save our Ship 2 rimworld playthrough. Maybe it is time to add this on to-do list

I've just finished watching the first series (nomadic tribal), what's missing is the feeling of jeopardy, watching this I never felt that Francis being challenged like he was in the first series.
Devourers have the same restrictions has jump jets, they can’t jump from occupied tiles. So you could just have your ghouls line up I front of the kill box and be fine
As far as I can tell, the thrall reinforcements will be non-hostile if you've already killed (or maybe downed) the sanguophage. They come in so late that I've rarely ever experienced them actually being hostile.
It feels like the only OP thing you haven't played around with is mass deadlife traps. Try putting a big room of corpses near the entrance of your base with rotting corpses and watch your enemies get swarmed by 200 friendly shamblers every time they try to enter your base.

i think once you get to late game, deep drilling your own base, and manufacturing components becomes better than the long range scanner and component caravans

You should try Grouped Pawns Lists and Search and Destroy mods. First mod will let you one click zone changing which will save you a lot of time and the 2nd mod will let your ghouls (or your pawns) automatically search and destroy the enemies w/out having to create a new zone like you did with the ghouls vs infestation.

The cube takes a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time which is why it's very annoying to get it last if you're pushing for the end of the DLC.
Keep the cube during the finale. It will be fine, there are plenty of warmachines. We all know the ghouls will be doing most of the heavy lifting, and they don't need the cube.
definetly do not destroy the cube, leave it, let a pawn get addicted to it - just for fun. like you said, you have replacements. pls

I do wonder if you'd enjoy using the search and destroy mod, especially for the ghouls. you basically toggle it and the pawn will act like they've been "let off the leash" except they'll now also actively search for enemies that are on the map. it works for melee and ranged, I tend to use it against threats that don't need lots of attention as they are a bit dumb compared to micro managing
Would be fun to have a run with only 1 - 3 pawns and the rest of the colony are just mechs and ghouls.
There's an interesting interaction between the gene implanter and death refusal. Think about it for a second. What happens when you overuse the gene implanter? You never needed to get another vampire.
If I were at those sky lantern festivals in the most wicked place on a hostile planet, surrounded by ancient and unfathomable evil, I'd still be the guy telling everyone that "you know, these lanterns are bad for wildlife, actually!"

Finally you use the normal death rest 😅 it just doesn’t come with any disadvantage… Also you should start using neurosis pulse. It cranks up working speed so much and the negative mood debuff is tiny its just like 4 or 6 .not sure if it had increased manipulation as well which would help with shooting stuff… its been a while now since i played
That's just a pup :) A friend of mine has a 125lb dog, a 170lb dog, and their big boy is I believe 205lbs.

Does giving a ghoul long fingers really help when they have a wooden hand and the claw? It means that they don't actually HAVE fingers after all...
Also, is it really necessary to enslave the Yunners, when you have all the casters who could make conversion so quick? It wouldn't annoy your colonists after all.
Wouldn't surprise me if the next patch made Manhunter Pulse only affect animals, and not the void horror creatures.

I know this is a lot to ask but if u still have the old save files from previous playthroughs and using the character editor mod, plz import the most memorable past characters into a 1 off halloween special. Would love to see an episode featuring, lunk, emily, original yunners, sir white and catgirl diogenes in a holloween special facing the anomaly. I know a whole series is asking for too much but maybe 1 after school halloween special?
