The moment I started embracing my shrinkage was the moment I noticed my hair started to grow even faster 💗 the quicker you start wearing your hair out in the natural state (such as wash and gos), your hair will thank you and that’s when it starts to grow!!

I don’t know why my first comment didn’t post 🥹 but I think the media did A NUMBER on black women believing that their natural hair is not good or “presentable” enough. I grew up wearing my natural hair in natural hair styles and I’d say I didn’t really know that it was such a huge deal until after high school. Right now I wear my hair straightened because it fits my lifestyle and allows me to go 2-3 weeks without washing (I’m a lazy LAZY natural ) but I love my natural hair with or without shrinkage. This summer I may give wash and gos a try again (briefly tho 😅).

Yesssss you’re so right. Still a lot of unlearning to do for many of us. Happy we’re going in the right direction. Absolutely do the wash and gos! even if only briefly 😆

Hmm your video got me to thinking about what do I think about shrinkage? When I first went natural I loved my TWA but at after it passed that stage I heard more complaints about shrinkage, but I don’t think I paid it much mind because I had already fallen in love with being natural and my curly look, and that curly wasn’t straight and long. To this day what people call shrinkage I see as curls, I see it as one my best kept secrets between me and my hair because of my curls you don’t know how long it is 😆. When my hair curls back on it self I know it has elasticity and it’s healthy too. Because it shrinks it has helped me to disassociate beauty & beautiful hair from long, straight hair and focus more on having healthy hair.

I love my shrinkage I don’t wash my hair everyday usually I go for 1-2 days a week. In-between washes if needed I’ll do an apple cider rinse and condition but regardless without fail I stand under the shower and drench my hair with water everyday and massage my scalp too and let my hair do what it wants. My scalp loves it and my hair feels so much softer since just listening to it and allowing it to shrink into its natural state. I basically get no breakage and never have a hard time deranging. You have been a massive inspiration to me xx

That makes me so happy! I used to do those apple cider clay masks back in the day. My scalp really enjoyed ACV.

@@EvieAswiti I’ve heard that if you don’t braid your hair up at night in the long term it will break is this true ? I’m currently just wrapping it in a satin scarf and soaking it in the am and it seems to be tangle free ? What do you do ? Can you do a hair night time routine video xx
