Laurie was our singer in my show band ''Carnival'' I knew this young lady was going to be a big star...She auditioned for us at 19 years old....There was no doubt. We had a blast on the road......Great talent RIP,my friend.
I saw her on Broadway in Cats in the 80's. Her voice really stood out and I have never forgotten how it grabbed me. Over the years I thought about that performance and must admit I never knew her name until I researched it just now. No one, not even Streisand, and I am a huge Streisand fan, but not even she captured the emotion like this woman did. I am feeling so sad to find she passed. And so young.
What a beautiful, beautiful voice. Her mom and mine were friends, and when my mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, Laurie was immensely helpful. So sorry that both are gone.
I had the pleasure of knowing Laurie personally. She was a wonderful person and I still can't believe she's gone from us. I think of her every day. God bless you Laurie
When I went to NYU, Annie was on Broadway, you couldn't get tickets for a year. There was a huge snow storm that closed down all of New York--but Broadway. Because people couldn't get into the city to see it, I was able to get in. Laurie stood out. Her voice just rifled through the audience like no other. I waited to meet her and she was very gracious and sweet and she and I and members of the cast had the most fun snowball fight. There was a lot of lauging and falling in the snow. :(
Wow, her voice was particularly beautiful on this day. Her soprano is so delicate, agile and clear - her voice shimmers.
