There have only been 14 Iron Man Matches in WWE history and we look back at all of them in EVERY WWE Iron Man Match Ranked From WORST To BEST

It's so weird to see that over the 40+ years of WWE History, there have only been 14 ironman matches
Well the concept of the ironman match wasn't even a thing until WCW introduced it in the early 90s so on average in the last 30 years it's been a thing there has been on average one every couple of years considering they didn't have the first televised one until 1996. Having too many ruins the spectical of them. That why Hell in a Cell and Elimination Chamber matches and even TLC matches have lost their appeal as they weren't used to settle feuds but rather had a guaranteed match for people at a certain time of year just for the sake of it.
"40+"next year will be WWE's 70th anniversary. When you said 40 was that you just guessing? I'm not trying to be ignorant
It should be a rare match though
Because they go long and it's hard to book them effectively to make sure it maintains crowd interest.
@@jeffreymarksworld534 They may only be talking about the time since the Vince Jr’s takeover in 82.
The number of times where they ended an Iron Man match as a draw going into sudden death really is a bit of an issue. It makes it feel like, going in, you know it will end tied and so the rest of the match doesn't matter. If they do more, they need to start having more of them that actually end with a winner when the time runs out, even if it's a last second win or prevention of a tie. Like I think it speaks volumes that all three of the top 3 ended without going into sudden death.
Totally agree. Likely why they haven't done more. TV is also a pain. I don't want to see a commercial break in the middle, especially if it is a good match
4 times over the course of 22 years doesn't seem that crazy.
It's weird that when you mention Ziggler vs. Rollins at Extreme Rules 2018, you didn't mention that the fans basically hijacked the match literally a few minutes in by emulating the royal rumble countdown going into every minute and then doing the buzzing sound and carried on pretty much throughout. It got so bad that WWE took the countdown clock off the screen. Yeah Ziggler and Rollins didn't have the best chemistry at the time and McIntyre interference got old fast but ultimately I found it hard to engage with the match because of the crowd. I rewatched it a couple of months later with the sound off and it was so much better
100% agree. This was a case of fans being given a gift and then taking a dump all over it. You could tell this really got under Ziggler’s skin, more so than Rollins, and it’s a damn shame because their feud got the IC title to main event a pay per view. At least we got that amazing tag title match between Ziggler/McIntyre and Ambrose/Rollins at Hell in a Cell.
It’s five and take. There are also many matches considered great because of the crowd. Sometimes it happens in reverse. I rewatched the match and it was good. But I also remember back then I couldn’t care less about there feud. And many others felt the same.
Didn't have the best chemistry? Had 2 raw matches before that were absolute gems.
@@leonzaduncan2438 Also they can have great matches with anybody
They had a 25+ min main event on raw. It was spectacular. Even their summerslam match was really good.
Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels at WM 12 & Kurt Angle vs Brock Lesnar at Smackdown 2003 are easily the best Iron matches of all time
@Joshua wrong please stop living now
30 minute submission benoit vs angle match is crimally underatted
Yes, I agree! Considering the era, how wrestling was in 1996 and what story Bret and Shawn told, it is still one of the best matches ever.
One thing they really need to do to build a babyface is making them lose in an Ironman, with the (dominant) heel leading all the way, but the babyface edging fall after fall until they only need one, but failing to get it in time. I really think it's an effective way to build a valiant underdog. (Imagine someone like Johnny Gargano or Jungle Boy trying to beat a Samoa Joe or a Walter, and only failing for *one* fall. You get my idea)
Shawn vs Kurt on Raw was perhaps in my opinion the best Iron man match in the company's history. Amazing chemistry and selling by both
The Angle-Brock match is really a very good match. The trope for an Ironman match is always to go to a sudden death finish which makes the middle part of the match mean less. However, by letting Brock open up with a big lead there is suddenly intrigue in the middle parts as the audience is sucked into cheering Angle on to will him to catch up. It is just brilliant. Sadly, with what happened to the Rollins-Ziggler Ironman match, we may not be able to see another one (at least on the Main Roster) anytime soon.
The Iron Man match between Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar on SmackDown is one of my all time favorite matches and when I was a kid made me fall in love with wrestling.
Kurt Angle and HBK’s iron man match on Raw is definitely one of my top 5 favorite matches of all time
may i ask what you like so much about it?
A-Kid vs Jordan Devlin was a banger
I remember staying up watching Wrestlemania 12 on Sky Sports and being on the edge of my seat the whole time and more and more because it didn't seem like there would actually be a winner. I don't think anything can recapture how I felt watching that and most since have been overbooked with weak pinfalls and screwy finishes.
The problem wasn't "can Brock.go for an hour", it was "who have we got who can keep up with him?" And Angle at his peak was the best answer. F diverticulitis.
Angle vs Brocks 60 minute iron man is my all time favorite match. The moves decisions ring psychology the back n forth. it was the first time I had ever seen a match like that and was completely blown away. When people say Lesnar can't wrestle just show them that match.
The problem with Brock Lesnar nd Roman Reigns is that they are basically 2 trick ponies on TV these days. Both are actually pretty decent technicians, but for whatever reasons neither one get to actually showcase their full skill sets on TV.
I like the variation of the iron man that NJPW did between Taichi and Shingo Takagi with the 10 minute unlimited pinfall scramble. You get 1 point for every second you have someone in a pin and the person with the most points at the end of 10 minutes
Quick note: Rock vs Triple H at Judgment Day was not the final chapter. They had another match the next month on ppv
You should rank every John Cena vs Randy Orton match
Cena and Orton also had a top-notch spot which saw them pin each other after hitting their finishers on one another. Cena hit an F-U, with Orton catching him in an RKO just at the last moment. It was the smoothest moment of the match.
Aside from Orton going Psycho Killer with the pyro.
The famous Ironman Match from WM 12 just needed each guy to get 1 fall before going to Sudden Death
Cultaholic is an amazing channel, full of brilliant content. I can’t wait until Cultaholic hits a million subscribers, they deserve it
Lick those boots
You must work there
I mean I agree but you could sound less like a bot
Wrestlemania 12 is my favorite iron man match. Bret vs Shawn michaels
Man, Brock V Angle is so great and I’m happy it got the top spot but I feel like it’s still underrated. Like I rarely see anybody mention it despite it being so classic. Brock’s monster heel tactics, both of their elite wrestling and eventually Angle’s desperation just made it so great. To me, it’s a top 3 match in WWE history. The only two being over it to me are Austin V Rock WM X7(personal favorite main event of all time to me, even tho I can admit Angle V Brock was much better in ring work), and Taker V Michaels WM 25 being number 1
YOU FORGET ONE. A KID VS JORDAN DEVLIN IN NXT UK. AND IT WAS EPIC.
The iron man match at wrestlemania 12 is why Shawn Michaels was my favorite wrestler cuz that was the first event I saw and that match blew me away
Great video🤘🏽🤘🏽
The 4-Man Iron Match is actually an idea taken from ROH. I mean it fits, since almost all the wrestlers in NXT were also taken from ROH.
But seriously, Ring of Honor used this exact matchtype to crown the first ever ROH World Champion back in 2002. A fall would win you 2 points, while taking a fall would lose you 1 point.
Christopher Daniels, Low Ki, Doug Williams and Brian Kendrick battled it out after having made their way to this match in a tournament. I seem to remember that it was quite the good match with some clever booking and I had been waiting for years for someone to do this matchtype again.
Thank for The Video ❤️👌
The fucking cultaholic lads coming in clutch this weekend my god. Thank you gents, crack on love you bye.
Rank every RAW guest host next
Jordan Devlin v A-Kid on NXT UK in an Ironman match was excellent. Missing out on a fantastic pair of performances for a cheap joke
I was there live to watch Kurt vs Brock and it was everything I thought it would be and more. Maybe the greatest match I've ever seen live.
Bayley/Banks is the only match from this list that I've watched, but it was a great watch. I actually prefer it to their Brooklyn match
I don’t even remember the Michaels vs Angle Iron Man Raw Homecoming match and I watched and recorded that night
Every I quit Matched ranked would be an interesting video idea
There was a banger of an Iron Man match between Prince Puma and Johnny Mundo in Lucha Underground. It was called an All Night Long match and I really really enjoyed it
Dolph and Seth had great chemistry the following month at Summerslam. It was a great match
The crowd was more there since they were the opener, plus the inclusion of a returning Ambrose helped them out quite a bit
Brock vs Angle is on another level
Must be nerve racking going for a hour
Thanks 🙏
Can’t wait for the “Every Singles Match Ranked” video
After listening to Attitude Era's Podcast about the HHH vs Rock Iron Man match I was hoping for this kind of list.
good video
Let’s gooo new ranked vid🤘🔥😂
It's wild that there are Iron Man matches on this list that are shorter than this video.
I think you should rank all the impact/tna tag champs
Bayley vs Sasha really is one of the best women's matches ever. It really made me feel so happy that women in wwe finally got matches with actual time and effort. Should have been done a long time ago.
Good work on the list, guys. Jealous of those who witnessed Flair vs Hart and Owen vs Bret iron man house show matches 😮
They might both be still on UA-cam. IMO, both of those are better than anything on this list. The Bret/Flair is from Boston Gardens I think and easily their best match together, and the Bret/Owen one is from White Plains, NY. Probably my favorite WWE iron man. It's full of Memphis style at the beginning with technical wrestling and storytelling. Both are from House Shows, so the footage is from someone sneaking in a camcorder, so keep that in mind. There's actually a load of awesome house show footage out there now.
@@xx-yq9pw They have fan footage?? How have I not seen this?! The idea of Hart going an hour with Flair, NWA style, is just mind blowing. Thanks for the tip, I'll certainly be looking for them tonight.
Kurt and Brock's from SmackDown for me! 💯💪
Next episode ranking every wwe singles match from worst to best
Every WWE show from Madison Square Garden Ranked from Worst to Best would be a good one to see :)
Much ❤️ to Benoit winning his iron man matches!
One of the best to ever do it
We really used to get stuff like Brock vs angle iron man match for the championship on a random Thursday man we was spoiled lol
Really happy to see that Sasha and Bayley made it to the top 3.
Completely agree with Brock vs Kurt being #1. That match was perfectly booked from a TV standpoint, which makes it even more incredible.
kurt angle, the common denominator of great matches
Oh it's true, it's damn true!
Sasha vs bayley and kurt angle vs brock lesnar will always be my favourite iron man match
Hart v Flair is one I wish I could have seen
Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart should be #2
I miss these 60 minute iron man matches
I remember watching Kurt vs. Brock on TV as it happened. Badass.
Hey guys, can you do the worst to best of wcw ppv’s?
While I understand Bret vs Hbk in the hour iron man match isn’t for everyone, I still find it insane to call it a bad match. Again I get it’s not for everyone but it’s such a phenomenally well put together match with seamless in ring work for an hour. Phenomenal
Honestly, if it was just a singles match, it would have been a perfect match. Nothing really happens in the first half.
The Owen/Bret Ironman match is on YT. If anyone wants to watch it. If you can deal with fan cam shit, you'll enjoy it.
I was at every Ironman match that took place in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh has had the most with 4.
I thought great balls of fire was pretty damn good. We got that awesome ambulance match with Reigns/Strowman, the Hardys vs the bar and that absolute banger between Lesnar and Samoa Joe lol
17:20
*of course*
I've always felt that Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle's 30 min Iron Man Match being one of the best ever because they squeezed an hour's worth of action into 30 minutes.
This Is my favorite type of match in Wrestling. Is The best for not only finishing a feud but to Show that The wrestlers áre The best too.
Rewatching this and coming right to the Rollins/Ziggler match...the crowd was completely at fault for that, being one of the crowd getting pissed at those around me. Stupid stupid countdowns. Seth and Dolph had a pretty decent match, I just don't think Iron Man is an "Extreme" rules stipulation, so after seeing KO tossed off...the cage, and an excellent Rusev/Styles match (really think they shoulda just given Rusev the belt that night, even as a heel, he could have easily went right back to Rusev Day and been a great monster for Bryan to turn heel on in a David cheats to beat Goliath idea he would end up using against Lesnar at Survivor Series to less success)...they just gave up on it. Sad. Fun time that night, but screw the rest of that crowd.
Yall have a great day
We need a tables iron man match at a TLC
Don't forget that Sasha stole Izzy's headband and made her cry.
I wish the Iron Man match in the UK would be called the Iron Bloke or Iron Chap
Every SummerSlam match ranked from Worst to best
Liked trips vs benoit alot, still one of my favourites😢
Every 2 out of 3 falls match ranked from worst to best
May sound cliche but Shawn vs Bret is my all time favorite
Every John Cena vs. Randy Orton match.
Four of these happened in Pittsburgh and I caught three live (Benoit-HHH being the exception). I remember being so pissed at the crowd for Ziggler-Rollins.
Fun list but why ignore NXT UK? I know not a lot of people watch it but the great matches should still be celebrated. The A-Kid vs Jordan Devlin Iron Man match was one of my favorite matches of 2021.
IronMan Pacitti back at it
Kurt angle's match was probably the greatest ever I have seen
This video should have been an hour long!
Damn WWE missed out on a great 60min iron man match. Just think of the match Punk vs Bryan during their feud for the WWE Championship
I mean... we all knew what Number 1 was gonna be before we clicked, it's just a matter of where all the others ranked.
"Fun" Fact about that Ziggler/Rollins "Iron Man" match... the 30-minute time limit was a bit... naff, since they'd done more than 30 minutes in a regular singles match on Raw leading up to the PPV. So, going to an "Iron Man" match that was set for less time than they'd filled on a standard singles match... yeah, the crowd just wasn't having it.
I was nervous that Vince would notice how little of ironman matches there were and over due them. Sure I’d like more but don’t make a ppv out of it

Bret Hart is my favourite wrestler ever and Shawn Michaels is also a GOAT but honestly there Mania Iron Man match was a complete bore
Best iron man matches Kurt Angle Vs Brock Lesnar smackdown 2003 Kurt Angle Vs Shawn michaels Raw 2005 Triple H vs the Rock Judgment Day 2000 and Chris Benoit vs Triple H Raw
You forgot all the matches from the Attitude Era that lasted more than 3 minutes.
Top 5
Brock vs kurt
Hhh vs rock
Cena vs orton
Kurt vs hbk
Kurt vs benoit
I've honestly never liked iron man matches much. Not opposed to longer matches at all, just don't like the definitive length being known, there's little drama the first two thirds, and ultimately I like knowing a match can ehd pretty much anytime. I far prefer two of 3 falls matches compared to iron man if we're talking multiple fall bouts
This list is responsible for my wife being annoyed at me for the last 60 minutes because of number 1 and the fact that I had to watch it so thanks for that
The iron Man match between the Rock and triple h in my opinion hands down one of the greatest matches ever 👏🏾💯 that match from start to finish despite all the shenanigans at the end of the match 😂 both were in their prime,..must see match 🔥
1st place is Triple H vs Curtis Axel
Rock vs hhh is my favorite
Lucky ref huh? 15:06 👀
i got my brock lesnar action action figure 4 days before their match for my 9th birthday. i was hyped.
The best Ironman match ever, actually never happened. Triple H vs Curtis Axel in a Monday Night Raw back in 2013
When are we gonna get every John Cena vs Randy Orton match ranked from worst to best?
I kinda disagree with number 10. Personally I feel like that was a interesting match that told a story. And the ending was interesting cause it led people to turn into nxt for the next week. That’s just me though
