4:57 it was at this point I realized that DSP 1 is working WAY harder than I initially thought. Also, I realized that. DSP 3 is playing the same sound basically the whole time, and just pulsing louder in sync with DSP 1 most of the time. That was still really hard to audibly pick out. I kind of wish I could get a much closer and slower look at a couple beats of DSP 1.
I'm kinda annoyed that DSP1 is as dense as it is. I was hoping to hear all those, like, 4 different sounds separated, but unfortunately they're all in the same channel.
Having an anxiety attack, played this track, anxiety-ed harder with those ominous screeches fading in and out and constant beat.

i now undertand why the music of this game was so unique for the system, complexity in the simplicity of just 8 channles without cutting out the continuity of it self

David Wise was, famously, inspired by the music of Tim and Geoff Follin - specifically, Plok. He heard Plok's OST and basically said "Wait, this is possible on the SNES sound hardware?", studied what the Follins did with Plok, and applied that to DKC. The results speak for themselves.
This really shows how much this song absolutely slaps
DKC deconstructions are just magical
The muxed bassline on DSP1 does an absurd amount of heavy lifting in this. It's playing basically 3 channels worth of voices, allowing the other channels to really go hard on the fade, reverb, and echo.
YES I've been waiting for this one, easily my favorite DKC track!
Fear factory, huh? I wonder if one of the composers of DKC really liked their industrial metal.

DKC was a political cry for help. Nintendo didn't like Rare for attempting to drop hints about how mining for a factory, that oftentimes finds bodies (at warehouses and manufacturing lines in the USA) at either place. The sacrifices made for tech have been hurdles. And not everyone is happy with video games. And their chips.
Pretty much why they snapped by Nintendo 64. Nintendo was trying to keep them 'omn a leash' so to speak in retaliation. Doing things like 'soft cancelling' Star Fox 2, and eventually doing to them what they started doing with Retro Studios before they made them smile for being so nice. Rarely utilizing them for things they're known for. Like how "Metroid Federation Force" was made. It's possibly passed off aggression. In Retro's case, they hardly had anything other than Bear n Bird, and Perfect Dark they had trouble introducing the characters and lore of. It would stand to reason someone got a little dynastic in Twicross England with Conker.
