I picked up a 430 roll cart in Dark Titanium and I love it, easy to roll around even loaded with tools. I will say though while I get the critique of a top drawer 6" tall is way to big and needs more then 1 set of slides, A taller top is very handy. While it does collect random stuff, that is also where a lot of battery chargers, spray cans and other taller quick use items go. If I want to just close the lid to lock up, the extra height is well worth it there.

I had an heritage stack in electric ograne had it for 14 years. Brought it somewhere about 2004 and a single issue with it then I brought s 26" heritage roll cab in same colour no had no issues. But I've seen other techs buy the 40" and 55" heritage box's and had a lot of problems with the draw runners failing and drawers coming out and scratching the box's and dropping on the floor. I noticed that compared to mine snap on had changed the manufacturer of the runners sometime after 2010 and they don't seem as good. I'd like to know if this has need sorted as they was the only down side to the box.

In 20years as a snapon guy i have never seen a drawer just pull straight out. It physically can’t, unless forced. It can happen if the box is in a van/truck and full of tool and the box isn’t locked. The force of braking/cornering can mean the drawer comes out at speed and is forced past the stops. The roller ball slides haven’t changed in 20years, same part number

    • @timleeton7114

Pretty good comparison. But I didn’t hear anything about either price of the like-sized “entry level” models.
And I can see the MAC being more.. being made in America 🇺🇸 with Canadian/Italian casters.
Whereas that particular snap on box you showed is Chinesium.. & probably still not too much reflected in the price.. IF @ all.
    Again, great in-depth comparison.

I’ve been a HGV mechanic for 17 years now, that heritage snap on box is a excellent tool box & built very well, it will definitely out last the Mac select series. I know this because I work with guys that have both boxes. The wheels on the Mac are pushing up into the box frame all the drawers are sagging etc definitely not built for heavy diesel tools.
Now I’m not saying Mac tools boxes are bad, definitely not the case, the tech 1000 series and up-words are built very well like tanks and I would recommend buying.

My dad has vintage Snap On stacked boxes and a KR1000 box still functioning as intended and tough as ever. I personally have some Craftsman griplatch boxes and a Mac cart that has taken a royal beating and is still as good as new and very sturdy that I get a lot of complements on. Hard to really say one brand is better than the other imo and each box has it's special purpose. I paid less than $1000 for the Mac cart and Craftsman boxes combined, but those prices were many years ago. My Mac cart might be my favorite box ever and I've run it through the mill. All the boxes my family owns have stood the test of time. Might not get as good quality boxes or prices from today's manufacturers though.

At the end of the day, a salesman will always make his product seem superior and I like Snap-on boxes but I live in Iowa and have owned every brand they all have strengths and weaknesses. There was an old guy in a shop I worked at that had a box that was built in the 80s. Just 2 years ago they replaced defective slides under warranty. That box is as old as me...

My heritage series tool box is absolutely Garbage! The roll cab is falling apart as the spot welds have failed. The sheet metal the casters sit on has collapsed in from the weight. The entire box leans to one side when pulled and because of that the drawer slides keep failing. I tried warranting it and it gets ignored. DON'T overpay for a tool box with a name on it, it means nothing these days. It's profits before anything.
