1.5 hours and all done .
Just a note , managed to do the job without taking out the speaker. Just need smaller hands and putting the top bolt in to align the bracket making it easier to fit the bottom bolt .

Thanks for a great video. Fitted new mechanism to my daughters polo at the weekend and it was more straight forward than expected. Had to remove the speaker for access but apart from that it went without a hitch! cheers.

Great video and well presented.. My wife has a VW pOLO 1400 - YEAR 2001. The left hand front Flashing direction light has just been changed but does not turn on with using the lever by the steering wheel. Only works (all lights back and front by pressing the Triangle stop indicator) Could it be the fuse has gone?. What is the best way to fix this?

great vid chaps, few minor points I had to overcome, I was puzzled by the regulator when it arrived from Autodoc I thought no way would it fit, until I realized it fits in at a slight diagonal angle, also the bolts to hold the glass were weird, like reversed allen key things. I was a bit cheesed off with the speaker, it must have been botched when fitted as the holding flange had huge pop rivets to attach it and they had all cracked the cheapo brittle plastic, so I drilled 3 fresh holes through what was left and into the door panel and re-rivited it with thinner rivets, quite adequate, If it was factory fitted it was very poorly done. I didn't bother to remove the window strips as the glass came out quite easily and I cleaned them in situ. Your video was invaluable and very helpful, being the same car as mine. Also the Autodoc part was very reasonable, cost me £43.00 inc. post, to repair, if I had gone to a main dealer I dread to think what it would have cost me. It only took me about 3 hours and much easier than I thought thanks to you guys. p.s. I would add I bought this car thinking it would be trouble free for my retirement , was I wrong, its been crap and I hate the grabby breaks and I soon replaced the stupidly big rear mirror. I think I'll change it for a Jappy when I can afford to.
Wel glad we could help you out, autodoc is a great place to get your parts. It is indeed a bit of a puzzle we also struggled with it be course the old one was broken and we had no idea how the routing went. Sorry to hear that you have some issues with the car, fortunately parts are cheap and the car is easy to work on. But I think you had other plans for your retirement. Do something fun!
Great video lads. I'm going to attempt this job in the next few days, only problem is my window is stuck about a 3rd up. Will i be able to access the front glass clamp through the speaker hole?as it doesn't line up with the access hole
Thanks, the best thing you can do is remove te motor en try to push it down. If that doesn't work. Cut the cable.

My car is from 03/2010 also a 6R model but the OEM number that I found for my car on the internet is not the same as in the description. Is the exact car part in the video also possible for my car? :)

Hi there my window on my polo is stuck down so where them holes are to undo the grips theyre not in there as its fully down and womt go up, any suggestions what I can do?
I do think you have to cut the wire and then pull it up manually.
Stomme vraag. Ik heb precies hetzelfde aan de hand maar dan rechts voor. Als ik op internet kijk zie ik alleen maar mechanismes voor 5 deurs. Is er een verschil tussen 3 deurs en 5 deurs? Ik heb namelijk een polo 6r 3 deurs
Dag!, volgens mij zijn deze gewoon het zelfde.
even op 7zap catalogus kijken.
Moet je het raam er compleet uithalen , of is dat alleen voor het wat makkelijker te maken ?
En de speaker loshalen is dat ook een MOET of ook alleen voor handiger bij te komen ?
Raam moet je er wel uithalen maar is makkelijk te doen. Speaker hoeft er niet persé uit maar kan even knoeien zijn.

I did not disconnect the battery and now the airbag light is on my dash, have i damaged the sensor or do I just need to reset codes ? Great video , really helped 👍
That sucks! You can try to reset it. If the code comes back try to get a code.
Is there anyway to rest it without using vag com?
@@colmohiggins7344 Maybe remove the battery for a couple of hours. Else get yourself a cheap obd/abs reset tool. The MD802 MD805 from autel are cheap and really good for the price.

Bij de airbagsensor moet ik dan de zekering eruit halen of hoe werkt dit? Mijn mechanisme aan de passagiers kant is vandaag helaas kapot gegaan en ik wil het zelf proberen. Het enige wat mij weerhoud is de airbagsensor
Massa van de accu afhalen. Dan zit je safe.

Ik weet niet zeker als ze 100% gelijk zijn. Maar er zijn fabrikanten die zeggen dat het voor 3 en 5 deurs is en er zijn fabrikanten die speciaal voor elk model een systeem heeft. Goed lezen dus voordat je besteld.

Try to remove the motor and try to get it up by hand. And let it be fixed.
Ik heb dus het probleem met mijn polo dat als ik mijn raam naar beneden doe het soort krakend geluid klinkt en sinds vandaag bleef me raam hangen en uiteindelijk met moeite dicht gekregen maar mijn raam zit niet los zal het dan wss aan de motor liggen dat die niet genoeg kracht meer levert om heb omhoog of naar beneden te krijgen ??
Dat kan zeker. Maar, De kabel begint te roesten en glijd steeds moeilijker waardoor de motor harder moet werken. Mischien kom je weg met smeren maar denk dat het vervangen wordt.
I did unplug the side impact sensor while switch was on. The airbag light came on and had to be reset from fault code registry. No airbag went off. Still you are right. DO NOT UNPLUG THE SENSOR.
Better save then sorry, glad it worked out in the end.

I've had the cables tangle and snap . Tried replaceing them with no luck. Can anyone measure the cables and give me the sizes .I'll need to get cables made up . As well as the spindle
I have found the cables in these mechanisms also are prone to fraying and breaking
It's pretty common these days. Fortunately it isn't the hardest thing to replace.
For me one of the wires rusted and ripped. Totally sucks!

Can you explain one more time how you did with the airbagsensor in all steps please?
We decided not to remove the sensor. We disconnected the battery and unplugged the sensor.

Did you plug the sensor in before you tested the new mechanism or after?
After, we made sure that everything was back the way we found it.

Als u je de sensor van airbag verwijderd gebeurd niks hij klapt niet ,)
De kans is klein maar ik heb rare dingen zien gebeuren met stekkers en airbags. Better save then sorry.

That's good to know, but i don't think I want to mess around with those cables.
Nice video, I changed my both front side with the help of local mechanic who charged only 2 to 3$ and didnt need to bring out speakers too

Just search on ebay or autodoc. you can find the parts there for much less. I don't know the lengths of the kabels.
My fix broke because I didn't know the lenghts.
That double sucks. Now you have to do it again.
