In the live version of this song from 76, instead of fading out at the end like that, they carry it out and Stevie just goes nuts on it. It's really something to see. You guys should check that one out. They used to play that concert back in the day on PBS during their donation shows so I've seen it probably a dozen or more times and it never gets old.
Stevie is the first woman to be inducted into the RRHOF twice. She wrote the lyrics to Rhainnon in 10 minutes. If she isn't in your top 3 female vocalist of all time - we gotta talk 😂
@@Spo-Dee-O-Dee cmon…there’s no way you can name 99 female singers let alone 99 better ones. You gonna say some BS like Linda Perry from 4 non blondes???

Live from The Old Grey Whistle 1976 is the best to me. Stevie absolutely brings this home. Still in love. Dreams unwind , loves a state of mind. Beautiful and mysterious woman. Captivating.
La and Che thanks for another great start to a Saturday. Fleetwood Mac did a complete change to thier style of music. Early stuff was hard and bluesy. And later was easy and soulful. Both were amazing 👏. Thanks fellas for a great reaction! Appreciate you 🙏 ❤
We took all this fabulous music for granted in the 70s. It narrated our lives because we listened to the radio all the time, everywhere we went. Fleetwood Mac Rumors is a classic that played on repeat for months. Awesome choice.
Saw them in Erie, just after Nicks and Buckingham joined the band, during a rare October lake effect snowstorm. Stevie started it off saying "well, we've got no place we can go, so lets party" They were amazing. A foot of fresh snow on the car when we left. Can't be forgotten.
The "ladies" -- singer/songwriter Stevie Nicks and singer/songwriter/keys Christine McVie -- joined at different times. Stevie and her bf guitarist Lindsey Buckingham joined together in '75, for Act III of FM. Christine was in the band since 1970, married to bassist John McVie.
Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac are one of my all-time favorite singers and groups! And this song is one of my favorites!... Would love to see you react to the live version of this song from the Midnight Special. Thank you!
I've heard that Christine McVie was the Fleetwood Mac member who was super gifted at coming up with hooks. Also, a little like the Beatles, Fleetwood Mac is an example of how beautiful music can be created by people who hate each other.
You keep saying when the ladies joined the band. Fleetwood Mac formed in 1967. Christine McVie was a session musician with Fleetwood Mac in 1968 and her boyfriend/husband was already in the band. She formally joined the band in 1970. After some members left, Stevie Nicks & Lindsay Buckingham joined in 1974, which really changed the sound of the band to more of a rock sound with blues elements.
Rhiannon is considered one of Fleetwood Mac's classics; I love the combination of the harmonious beauty and haunting tones in this song and how tight/smooth the band sounds. It's a vibe every time you listen to it. Airplay Beats keeps on rocking - Thanks for your hard work.
Now you can dive into the live version of this where Stevie goes all in on her vocals. The band was reluctant to add Stevie. This hit #11. Mick and John were glad Christine (RIP) hit it off with her and welcomed her to the band. A song about a Welsh witch.
Within the first bar, Lindsey sets the tone for one of the most uniquely haunting songs ever put to tape. The first song I heard by them, and still one of the best imo.
That FWM iconic sound that grabs you and refuses to let go. Thier Rumors album has sold over 40 million copies worldwide. Great reaction as usual guys, TY.
Che is right on the money--you are onto some classic, awesome music. Rhiannon is from 75's Fleetwood Mac, the first with Buckingham and Nicks. It and 77's Rumors are the pinnacle of the Buckingham-Nicks era, and peak of Mac's commercial success. Along with fantastic music, the band was known for its relationship drama: Christine and John McVie and Nicks and Buckingham were in relationships that ended during the band. All the members are fantastic, and McVie on bass and Fleetwood on drums (Fleetwood Mac) were their rock-solid musical foundation. Rhianna shows that off well--ballsy and precise. Excelsior!
I love the propulsion the drums give this song...makes me think of "Station Man" by a mid-era incarnation of the band when Danny Kirwan was with them...
Oh, you've got so much joy coming your way, guys. And you hit it right on the nose, Stevie is like country over rock. Her grandfather was a country musician and had her by his side as a toddler, and a lot of her solo music has a country edge to it. She's just magic.
Hey guys, as you continue to dive into Fleetwood Mac's 50 plus year catalog, I hope it will become apparent to you that Peter Green knew what he had when he lured Mick Fleetwood and John McVie (Fleetwood Mac) from John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. For my money the best rhythm section in rock. Mick, not flashy like Ginger Baker or Keith Moon, but the best timekeeper on the planet. Whil John McVie has provided some of the most iconic bass lines ever. Blues, Rock, Pop/Rock, or ballads. Give them their props. They held that band together for 50 flipping years!
The song is about a witch. From this point on Stevie Nicks would often be accused of being a witch herself and she would play into the rumour on stage by wearing long flowing black gowns with mystical beads hanging from her microphone stand. This would be the look and vibe she adopted for the duration of Fleetwood Mac. Somehow it seemed to fit the overall tone of the band. The live version of this from "The Dance" concert 1997 will blow you away.
Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, a couple came to Fleetwood Mac together. With both of their voices and Lindsay's great Guitar work, it changed this Band forever......Great review, thanks,,,
Absolutely a great song i believe the greatest thing about this version of Fleetwood Mac is the 3 lead singers they could throw at you. Stevie Nicks Christine McVie and Lindsay Buckingham. Saw them about 10yrs ago with my daughter and they were still killing it! RIP Christine the Rumors album is no doubt the album you were thinking of. I believe its one of the best selling albums ever.
No other voice like Stevie Nicks you guys have got to check out her solo stuff away from Mac she is a legend and even today at 75 she can still belt them out Stevie is my wife's favorite female singer and I love her as well. Her duets with Tom Petty and Don Henley are great songs
I strongly recommend checking out their Midnight Special live performance. You really get to see what Stevie can do, not to mention everyone else in the band.
More Stevie please 🙏🏽 She and Don Henley performed “Leather and Lace” when she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist in 2019 🔥
Christine McVie was with Fleetwood Mac from day one , They lost a couple band members came over to the United States looking to fill one spot and they stumbled upon Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks and they offered Lindsey a spot in the band and he said I'll only come aboard if Stevie comes along with me , Basically we're a package deal take us both or nothing ! And the rest is History !
Written by Stevie. This is the song Stevie auditioned with and it got Mick Fleetwood to agree to take Stevie and Lyndsey as a pair. Pay attention to the writer of the songs and know, Stevie was a Poet first. Live from Midnight Special is a Must see!
There was no audition. Mick heard their Buckingham Nicks album when looking for a new studio. He only wanted and needed a new lead guitarist because Bob Welsh quit. He asked Lindsey to join his band off the song Frozen Love. Lindsey told Mick he wouldn't join without his girlfriend/partner. Mick wanted Lindsey enough he said yes if Christine agreed to another woman in the band.
This is the song the cemented them as pop/rock icons. Kinda like the Eagles and Hotel California. Al Stewart and Year Of The Cat (hint-hint). Blue Oyster Cult and Don't Fear The Reaper (more hint-hint). I know. Subtle as a slap in the face! But you're going to love Stevie Nicks on Gold Dust Woman and please, please do their live version of Silver Springs from The Dance concert dvd. It's as famous for it's visual inter-action between Stevie and Lyndsey as it is for the quality of the performance, which, btw, is the way a song should be performed live. Simply perfect.
The ultimate Stevie Nicks Billy goat voice is her solo song "Stand Back".. if you like that kinda thing 😏 It came out in 1983, when I was 8, so I knew about her before I knew of Fleetwood Mac.
This live version from The Midnight Special 1976 is one of those things in life that you must see. Stevie is something special and she shows it here. Even if it's on your own time, my brothers, trust me. ✌🏼 ua-cam.com/video/goKM7jsOwrg/v-deo.html
I love music so it's hard to choose a favorite group, but they are my all-time favorite. Just the best of musicians all coming together to create these timeless masterpieces! Stevie is a rock queen, no doubt - so many hits. Then you have the keyboard/piano player Christie McVie who passed away a few months ago. Her smooth, calming vocals really add to each song and she has her own songs as well, "You Make Loving Fun" "Don't Stop thinking About Tomorrow" that she sings with lead guitar, Lindsey Buckingham, "Everywhere" and more. And please check out the live version of this "Rhiannon" where Stevie goes off at the end of it - as others have mentioned below too. It's one of my favorite live performances.
Stevie and Lindsey were living in LA trying to get off the ground , Stevie was cleaning celebrities houses so they could stay afloat , Not to mention her parents were financially supporting them as well , They told her you've got 1 year to make it in the music biz or it's time to come back home and go back to college ! About 2 months later she / they were in Fleetwood Mac ! And the rest is History !
Stevie's house cleaning stories get more and more elaborate - but to be fair she started it. She cleaned their producers house Keith Olsen for less than a week. She was so bad at it he fired her and figured it was cheaper to have them move in. That was the beginning & end of her life as a cleaning lady. Poor little rich girl was so traumatized about it though she's not only never let it go but expanded it into some years long drudgery.🤣
Just that sleek opening, then Stevie comes in with her songstress story telling... I wasn't a huge fan in the day, but this rendition of Fleetwood Mac is an all-star lineup, Christine McVie such a fantastic vocalist herself knowing how to blend the keys and her backing vocals just in time in perfect harmony. Lindsay Buckingham a true top talent is his own right, staying in the backdrop allowing the ladies to lead.

Thank y'all for your reactions. You Guys briefly mentioned the material that y'all have covered by Fleetwood Mac that's from the post Bob Welch era. I immediately thought of a song that I've been wanting you Guys to react to, it's titled "Hypnotized," released in 1973, a year prior to Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joining the band. It's an exceptional song. Thank you again for the joyful entertainment that I relish.
I second it on 'Hypnotized." The production is lush but not excessive. Real ear candy without being overly sweet. Instead, it's a mysterious musing on ... well, just listen.
When my friends and I talk about music, the question usually comes up, "If you could only listen to one album for eternity, what would it be?" My reply every single time and will always be the "Rumuors" album! Smooth jamming baby!
"this is a song...about an Old Welsh Witch." I never knew that though. Just liked the pretty song. This song, to me, really features John McVie on bass. There are times when that bass player, John McVie taps into something. That's why the drummer connected with him.
This album was played to death back in the day! After many years of not hearing it, I forgot how good it was! A great album of the 70’s….what a time to be alive! Excellent reaction, as always…keep going!
SN,she might be part bird, mysterious, lovely, tasteful track, great drummer, Hypnotized, early Mac track, kicks off with drums. Bob Welch, Hypnotized, yeah baby...
Stevie is amazing on her own as well Edge of seventeen and Stand back are good ones And she also does a duet with Don Henley called Leather and lace which is nice
This seems very appropriate since you are wearing an Alabama Crimson Tide shirt in this video. Prior to joining Fleetwood Mac, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks were a couple and a duo called "Buckingham Nicks" (also the name of their sole album released in 1973). The album went nowhere and received no airplay... except in the Birmingham/Tuscaloosa market. They opened for a few bands which took them through Birmingham where someone from a Birmingham radio station took note and added the album to their rotation. They spent most of 1974 working side jobs to pay the bills and could find anywhere to play in southern California. Then came the offer and acceptance to join Fleetwood Mac followed by a concert promoter telling them that their album had been in heavy rotation and asking them to play 3 shows in Alabama. They couldn't find a gig to play in LA and when they landed in Birmingham found out they had sold out an auditorium of 6,000. The first recordings of Rhiannon are from those shows in Alabama, there's a UA-cam video that compiles all 3 versions and the audio of those complete shows are on UA-cam. You mentioned hearing a little country with Stevie, she wrote a song when they were Buckingham Nicks titled "Designs of Love" which would be recorded and released on Fleetwood Mac's 1982 album Mirage with the title "That's Alright", it is absolutely a country song. You might want to check it out, it's a hidden gem in the Fleetwood Mac catalog that most don't know about. Also, realize that Mick Fleetwood is one of the luckiest men alive. He went to find a studio to record their next album at and the studio manager played "Frozen Love" from the Buckingham Nicks album. Fleetwood started to focus on the playing instead of the recording and asked Buckingham to join after their guitarist quit. Buckingham told him it was a package deal and he wasn't joining without Stevie. Luckily Stevie hit it off with the other band members (you know they feared it was going to be some Yoko Ono situation). Fast forward 4-5 years, they have their first #1 album, follow it up with arguably the greatest album of all time that sold over 40 million copies and Fleetwood, who looked like a coked-up Frankenstein monster, was banging 20-something Stevie Nicks. If you made it all the way through this, I would also recommend you check out the very underrated Irish band Thin Lizzy. You know them from The Boys are Back in Town but they have much better songs. I would recommend "The Cowboy Song" and if you want something with some Irish flair "Black Rose: A Rock Legend".
DON'T FORGET ABOUT CHRISTIE! 😊 SHE WAS A POWERHOUSE IN HER OWN RIGHT AND DID SEVERAL SONGS YOU GUYS, BIGGGGG R.I.P TO ( CHRISTINE MCVIE ) HER HUGE HIT WAS ( SONGBIRD ) BUT OTHER SONGS WERE: OVER MY HEAD, YOU MAKE LOVING FUN, EVERYWHERE, LITTLE LIES 😊 THERES SOME OF THEM, ALL CHRISTIE SONGS AND OF COURSE SHE'S THE KEYBOARD AND PIANO PLAYER DON'T FORGET! 💯

Christine McVie joined Fleetwood Mac in 1970. Stevie Nick's joined in 1975.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This whole album is Great!
Stevie is amazing on her own as well
Edge of seventeen and Stand back are good ones
And she also does a duet with Don Henley called Leather and lace which is nice
My goodness, I still have a crush on Stevia Nicks after all these years! Yes, you need to do this entire album.
