Honestly, I think that underrates it. So much of what you say is accurate, but to me Cupcakke's display of technical skill on this album is incredible. You are right to point out that she should be in the coversation of best rappers. She does some insane flow switch ups combined with amazing lyric work. A lot of the shock has worn off from her over the years and now it's more just fun. I take it in the same stride as Ke$ha's new song, silly and fun, but she is displaying so much insane talent at the same time.
This is for sure a step up for her production, but agree she could do some more innovation there.
Right the different flows, beats, wordplay, genres subjects ect like ??? Sexxy red a rapper with not even a 10th of cupcakkes genuine talent getting an 8 while cupcakke gets a 6 (atleast could have been 6.9) is blasphemous

I respect it and definitely feel like all your points are a valid. However I feel like the melodic songwriting in these chorus and verses are some of her best. I do think she can get on more creative beats but this album feels like she’s dipping into new sounds for her and I commend her for that even though I don’t think it all works. I think she should really take her singing to a higher level because there’s a lot of potential in her voice. I hope that after this album she makes a leap to makes the leap to make a project more adventurous in its subject matter and sound because it’s so obvious she can. I think she could pull off a concept album or at least one with more topical consistency in the writing. I hope she knows she has a fan base that will give whatever she’s passionate in making a try even if it’s not the super confident and explicit rap we know her for.
I think when it comes to the explicit raps, yeah it's what she's known for but on here she seems so unpassionate about it and the lyrics are more disgusting and shocking than "empowering".... there's more dirty songs on here than any cupcakKe album and it had me feeling as if this album is just meant to be content for tiktokers to remix.
@@TrishDelarosa I totally get that. I personally really like the album but I would say she doesn't sound the most passionate on the sexual songs. The opening track, aura, and the closing track are the ones I feel like she sounds the most confident but I still feel like she's having fun in the more sexual songs. I think I'm just in awe of the technical skill and energy she puts into the sexual raps. She's doing sexual rap at the highest level and it's clearly not easy. I think it's obvious that she's trying to be as provocative as possible and it can be ham fisted at points but that is the case for other sub genres of hip hop. Gangsta rap that creatively pushes the envelope of murderous descriptions has a long history in the genre so there is a context for what she's doing. But provocation by its definition pushes people away. It just pulls me back in because of her flows, her melodies, the variety of solid beats, and the imagination flips she can take for the basic human act of sex. But really she's just giving the audience what they clearly want from her while taking creative risks that fulfill her as an artist and that's valid. That being said I do hope she drops a bit more frequently and challenges her audience to do more different stuff.
Really? I didn't think there was any energy in the sexual raps, it's not like Duck Duck Goose or CPR where you could actually get down to them, there's a moment where she gets an entire audience to moan with her, or like Best D Sucker or Doggy where she has this boldness to her... she doesn't sound passionate and the lyrics sound almost the same on each one, or something she's said before. That's why I say, at least someone like Sexyy Red is more compelling because she has that upbeat energy to make songs that sound clubby, and has that "ratchet" sound cupcakKe used to have during her C-cake - Ephorize eras. She's done slower sexual tracks before like Spoiled Milk and W***egasm... these ones are just boring in comparison. So I wouldn't necessarily say she's doing it at the highest level unless you mean in trying to be nasty (not freaky), because then yes, she's up there with Ice Spice. But Sexyyy could definitely do a better hook than "It's running through the woods, it's running through the mf woods"
So it's not that it's too provocative, her older songs were great, they had the energy that was needed, it's just these ones are... boring... and seem like they were only made because they're what's keeping her relevant nowadays. I didn't see a single moment on this album where I could see a whole crowd interacting with a song the way they did with CPR or when they all brought chopsticks to a cupcakKe concert.
If this album was called To Pimp a Dauntless Manifesto you would give it a Gulp Gulp Gulp Gulp out of 10

Hey Fantano, the internets busiest music nerd! You might have heard of a little sub genre of rock called math rock, and then even smaller Japanese math rock. Well last week, a band by the name of “toe” dropped there long awaited 4th studio album after a nine year hiatus. “Now I see the light”. And it pushes to boundaries of a genre they’ve basically fathered into what it is today. I know it’s not that popular, and might no preform well, but I would be interested in a review! I enjoy this genre and have yet to come across a UA-camr who enjoys the genre as well. I think it could give light to it and there even more artist I can recommend! Clever girl, is also a math rock band, not Japanese. This is the same for Parachute days, and a band called covet. Basically even if you don’t make a review. Here is a genre I can put you on! It’s also instrumental, so there are usually only bits of songs that contain lyrics like harmonies or just a chorus. Have a great day!

I think she deserves more for this album because of the versatility and her evolution from her previous work
I do perfectly see almost all the criticism you put about the album, but even then if I try to be that hyper critic it's a solid 7 light 8 easily. But for the amount of rap music/albums/artist that listen, me not being that huge of a fan of rap, I do grade it solid 8 light 9. It excites me with every track. But I do agree it's criminal the way Rock Paper Scissors is surrounded in that tracklist, but I also think it's on purpose, to just not be another meaningful powerful and emotional song lost at the end of another tracklist, where no-one who gives up listening to the album on the first few tracks reaches and has the chance to listen to it.
Hoping for a review of True Magic by salute, my favourite album this year.

I'd give the album a 7.5 because even though it is incredibly raunchy and even though the Rock Paper Scissors feels really out of place, the entire album is so much fun. Like I felt so much enjoyment listening to it for the first time that the album's weaknesses aren't that bad. I'm super excited for anything she comes out with in the future

Ngl I'm a bit dissapointed. I thought this was a really great collection of songs. I love the Brazilian influences on some of these tracks, and I genuinely think that in such a stacked year, a song like Little Red Riding Good still stands out and is up there with some of the more profilic drops this year. Sure, her beats arent the most special or unique. But a generic hyperpop beat sounds way better than a generic hiphop beat, let's be honest. These were some of cupcakKe's best tracks and the opener is so audacious, it punches it absolutely dominates my mind. The vocal delivery makes this song incredibly memorable in my opinion. Love the album, I think its a strong 7 to a light 8

I absolutely love cupcakke. As someone who doesn’t listen to lil Wayne specifically because of his overly sexual lyrics sometimes, something about her is totally different. She makes me feel empowered in my sexuality and her lyrics are so witty I can’t help but love it
