Charlie, its good you have discovered nature. As you get older I would like to see more videos of you going bush with philosophical narration. It's a great antidote to inner city UK
I live ten minutes from here. Good walkthrough. It was built by William Lever, 1st Viscount Leverhulme. If you read about him he did loads of crazy stuff. True eccentric.
Went here with my kids in lockdown got lost on way back down to find car, nobody believes me but as we were lost in a wooded area trying to cut through saw what looked like a kangaroo, somebody I spoke to on the next visit said they had seen them too and were in fact wallabies. Was surreal moment kids were astounded...a moment amongst they fear mongering and closed schools at the time they needed was one of my best days with them.
Deer have somewhat similar heads, and sometimes they pop up over a bush around Rivington ...? Regardless, I'll be on the lookout for antipodean fauna on my next trip! :)
@@pyeriotsquad yeah I have seen multiple deer before even on Leverhulme Park. I saw the full body it was a wallaby though my ignorance thought it a kangaroo upon first glance. Do a regular delivery round there to a couple in their 80's lower Rivington house on drysk lane. They have seen them for decades around there every couple years apparently a local had his own mini zoo for his own pleasure and released them all in mid 70's.
@@StrawberrySunday212 yeah because there hasn't been sightings of wallabies in the UK ever has there apart from the 95 verified ones. Amusing comment though, your so current. Keep your bordem confined to your social media pages you mess.
Aww. I didn''t want it to end. Thanks for taking us there. I remember some really long stone wall in the middle of nowhere you took us to many years ago.
A somewhat silence, apart from a creaky Veitch running up some steps. Like Rocky's epic training scene. Early, fresh, slightly, misty photons. Very nice 😁👍
I came back from Rivington today, walked this route two days ago but other way round from Rivington Pike. Big forest area called Ravine was also astonishing although difficult to find the way to the gate. Thank you for filming.
Lovely video, CV. No commentary required on this one. Last time I was there was in 1975 with my girlfriend (later, wife). I've gone all nostalgic, now ...
Not far from where you are the is a castle charlie. Well worth a look. I think its called liverpool castle and was built as a ruin. We call where you are now the chinnese gardens many many happy memories up there. Good to see the place again ive not been up there since i broke my back.. Thanks charlie.
4:31 great shot of the 'Rapunzell' tower, I suppose these are Victorian Follies. How wonderful it is around here. I have been before on the way to Blackpool once, but a long time ago.
There is a Friends of Lever Park group and they opened the Tower for a short period to the public earlier this year. Think it was over the Easter Weekend. It’s undergone a big restoration in the last few years with new floors etc. I’ve not been in as I couldn’t make it but, from the area around it, you can see most of the western area of the North West, over to Blackpool.
At the beginning if possible I would of camped near the bridge men used to hunt work and sleep at their work places, absolutely fantastic footage thanks mate 👍
Terraced Gardens or what are known locally as the Chinese Gardens. Very nice Charles, why did you not stop to film the information plaques? My head was turning trying to read them as you passed 😂
Wow you were in Rivi and didn't see a soul !! I live close by, that place is usually very busy. Your scoop shot of the steps reminded me of the intro to the game Unreal....would have been perfect if you'd wobbled the camera a bit 😉.
Built by a Liverpool Soap Factory Boss, so he had somewhere to go away from the City bussle of a weekend. He even had guest houses where he would invite families from his factories for short breaks.
Lord Lever one’d the land and gifted it to Bolton. He had a bungalow there and it was burnt down by a Suffragette when he was with the then King. I’m up there quite often with my grandsons. Near the reservoir is a folly of Liverpool Castle. There is also a monument to the crew of a Wellington Bomber that crashed during the war.
The only way to keep Charlie quiet is a steep hill and lots of steps! 😂 It's nice there, but give white coppice woods a try next time. Its just over in chorley and is 5 minutes drive away from Rivington
Liverpool was going to demolish it?! "Liverpool City Council, the former owner, neglected the gardens and planned to demolish the structures and clear the site in 1967, after a public outcry, the Chorley local authority moved to protect the garden's structures by ensuring listed status thus saving the Terraced Gardens from bulldozers. "
Its not abandoned its always packed full of folk.the name of its China Gardens that go onto pigeon tower then the pike.should visit Liverpool castle and the pike charlie
I’d think it hilarious if someone came up n started accusing him of cruising. Oi why u out here? Ur not cruising are u? What u doing here? Ur not cruising in those woods or old buildings?
If only we were backward ignorant knuckle draggers who could build such timeless and inspiring architecture. Instead of the genius modern folk we have evolved to.
Seems so quiet and isolated. You could walk around naked gathering photons and not be disturbed. Just shove a long raincoat into your back pack to wear afterwards on your way back, folk would be non the wise

he needs to karate kick a badger, to get the view rate up like.
From junkies trying to steal your mobile and swearing at you. To the sound of birds and Charlie's heavy breathing. What a contrast.

The tower you see at the end is known as the 'Pidgeon tower' apparently he built it for his wife. I've been inside, i know one of the local rangers.
Wow what an amazing place I didn’t want it to end great one Charlie 👍

I’ve only seen a couple of your videos but I have to admit that place is stunningly beautiful.

A commentary free video that's a novelty Charlie and no other humans anywhere thanks
No words needed Charlie, this fantastic place speaks for itself. the autumn colours were a bonus.
No words needed for this video, beautiful scenery even though your approach gives it a kind of Evil Dead feel :)

Me and the Mrs went a few weeks ago a lovely walk blew my mind I could see Blackpool tower from there!!
Happy memories of this idyllic place as a callow youth. Summer haze, long grass... Thanks for the lovely reverie. 👍

Such a shame, I’m sure the place could be brought back to life one day.🤔😎

He built the tower and a zen garden for his love. Their names or initials are engraved in the fireplace on the top floor. 🌼

ayyyyy i love rivi pike / anglezark, some nice places to get you some funky mushrooms last month 😉❤
Imagine when this was first built, ( have you a date ) looks like the first infinity swimming pool of its kind! Give us more information Charles…
It was all built in the early 1900's. None of it is ancient, but it is a very nice place to walk.

Love it here. If you like this Charlie I’d recommend checking out the B-29 crash site near glossop.
Wow what a beautiful place & thanks Charlie 🤗
Love this video.....Us viewers can add our own commentary as you go along.
Terraced Gardens or what are known locally as the Chinese Gardens. Very nice Charles, why did you not stop to film the information plaques? My head was turning trying to read them as you passed 😂
Nice little place away from the drugs and feral people. Those Victorians knew what they were doing, didn't they?
I used to go there for picnics as a child with my grandparents.brought to mind happy times back in the day.
Nice sightseeing tour in nature.Characteristic autumn colors, thank you Charlie.
Wow! I thought I was watching a randonautica video for a mo! Beautifully eerie 🧡
*Rivington Pike* in *Rivington, Chorley, Lancashire.*
Looks a very cool place I live near Manchester and have never seen this place thanks for showing us
Its more near to horwich and chorley.
well done Charlie...beautifully documented
Wow! History. Beautiful
Beautiful place...
breathtakingly beautiful
By god, my brother in christ that is beautiful.
Great archive, thanks for the captures.
When you're a millionaire I look forward to seeing how you'd film, direct and edit such footage heh.
Excellent walk on the wild side.
Thank-you
Beautiful Japanese gardens of Rivington and the pigeon tower
Interesting video, deserves further investigation, cheers Charlie👍👍
Always a cracking walk round Rivi
We used to ride up there from Swinton for a swim when I was a kid!
Lovely place
Great video never heard of rivington before now

Yes. I'm in the 1st 5 viewers. Haven't ever watch it yet. Just wanted everyone to know how chuffed I am. 😁👍. On with the show.
Charlie veitch at his best, great video
Even Charlie knows, that sometimes you just need to shut up and enjoy. Nice one.
magical 👍

Wow what a gorgeous place. Shame it's been left to the weather and the elements but that's part of its charm.
That new Unreal 5 looking dope af
Looks very nice around autumn ;)
Wow! What a beautiful set of follies.
Authorities need to clean and repair this : make a real tourist attraction.

Love Rivington pike ❤️
Loved local area this
Use to visit this area when i was a kid great castle to climb
It’d be a good night roaming that place on an average sized dose of mushrooms
Any day up Rivvy is always a great day.
👍😊🇬🇧 but near Bolton 😊
What a beautiful place. Without knowing it was Manchester it would be mistaken for, far north.
Except it's not the tiny city of *Manchester, Greater Manchester,* it's *Chorley, Lancashire.*
Not Manchester. In between Bolton and Chorley.
👜👜
Spent many hours up there growing up & it was where my hubby proposed
Soundtrack should be....Watcher In The Tower by Mike Oldfield.
ahh yes yes get in .. morning uploads, or at least when I get to sit down and see charlie has uploaded again.. yay

Stop drinking Cola Charlie... it's grim. Drink boiled bottled water and you'll escape the Matrix.
Not been up to the gardens for a while. I only live at the bottom, smack bang in the centre of Horwich
Hope you are very good Charlie 🤎
There was a fantastic free festival there in the late 1970s 🎉
Interesting Roman architecture.
that a buitifull bridge
Near Bolton*
Probably got vampires in that mausoleum
Ugh oh! A peaceful country walk usually ends in kidnap and dad calling with you 🤣🤣🤣📳
Chinese gardens, the bridge is a favorite for photographers.
No fights no threats or verbal abuse I think I'll come back when your back in madchester.

Pendle Hill next Charlie home of the infamous pendle witches. 😎
The whole hill of rivington pike is the remains of a giant tree stump 🌳🌲🌴
