It’s actually a subtly wise movie. Why do these guys do what they do even though most of it is pointless and doesn’t serve their future? There’s something to be said for living in the moment at times in your life, and this movie captures it better than almost any other.
Love seeing all of these put together in chronological order. Would almost love to have an entirely Unedited movie with all these scenes put with the rest of the movie.
This is one of the most underrated movies ever made. It’s every bit the equal of Dazed, and the authenticity of the environment created is, incredibly, even a little bit stronger.
Very good movie and have watched it many times over. Don’t feel as tho it got the publicity and advertising that it should have. Very underrated movie that does not disappoint at all
I love the subtle detail at 18:22 where everyone on the team is stretching, Willoughby just crosses his legs and sits back. It almost comes across as him realizing how futile it is to spend what little time he has left with the team stretching. Considering the coach calls Willoughby off the field about 5 minutes later, definitely makes me think that this was no accident.
Things that have more sense after the first watch. The same as when Jake ask about San Luis Obispo and Willoughby gave him a vague reference of where it's supossed to be, and when Jake tries to talk about that Willoughby interrupts him to ask for going to smoke
I was today years old when I found out that Wyatt russel aka “willoughby” is Kurt Russell snd Goldie Hawks son..he’s such a good actor And I’ve seen everything he is in and I just found that out
The Burger Boffin agreed I love wiloughby and we’ve got the wiloughby van as of recently we are decorating it like the movie my brother goes to the same college we are gonna have it signed and enjoy it
When I watched this movie the first time didnt like it because I kept comparing and judging it in my mind to Dazed and Confused. You can never remake that movie so why even try. After watching it a 2nd time with a new perspective really enjoyed it. Don't compare the characters to Dazed and you will most likely have fun watching this movie.
Lelo Starks - Totally agree. First time I watched it (in the theater) I was underwhelmed I think b/c I was assuming it’d be a plot-driven beginning-middle-end film. But it’s not that kind of movie. It’s very much a character study film, almost a meditation on a specific moment in these characters’ lives at a specific moment in American culture. And Linklater hits the bullseye. So when you watch this film the 2nd, 3rd and 4th time you are not concerned about plot you’re concentrating on what makes the characters tick in each scene.
I partied at the real Sound Machine in Huntsville, Texas. It wasn't as nice as in this movie, actually it was a converted Quonset Hut that I think was used by the local National Guard. It was converted into a disco club that rocked all week long. Lots of girls everywhere.........;)
I like this better than Dazed and Confused. Maybe it is because I prefer 80s pop culture over 70s pop culture. Even though it takes place in 1980, you can see that this movie wants to become an 80s movie. In my view Blake is really Mitch from from Dazed and Confused grown up and muscled up.
To each their own, I don't think this movie ever threatens to become half the film Dazed and Confused is, but it is fun and I thoroughly enjoy it. If Linklater were to pound out a yearly ode to his youth, I'd love it to be honest
Good teaser! Is this a 70’s or 80’s movie? Depending on which way it goes, the clothing choices could be wrong. How ever, I guess it could be a late 70’s or early 80’s movie.
@@thomaseliason8376 Yeah but as someone who started college in 1983, so much of this movie, from the music to the clothes to the attitudes, is accurate.
The real life guy Tyler Hoechlen plays went to this college on a football scholarship which Linklater did not mention. Linklater did not play a full game in college.
This movie so underrated and almost completely unknown by so many people. I'm hoping it finds its audience some day.
Cult classic someday
Just saw it, I hope more people do
I love this almost as much as dazed and confused, it's so well done
I have a soft spot for this movie
mmm, I sure have a spot for it. I know that for sure!!!!!
Me too, this movie is not only hilarious but also packs humour with it

Is the spot called Tyler hoechlin? Mine is...
I love this movie. It’s Dazed & Confused for 1980
Love seeing all of these put together in chronological order. Would almost love to have an entirely Unedited movie with all these scenes put with the rest of the movie.
Almost?

Love this movie. Love Glen Powell.
A lot of these deleted scenes added something. I like the bit where Finn is open about his baseball prowess with the scouts drooling over McReynolds.

Yeah my point exactly, this movie is really under rated , a friend on mine recommended it to me n I loved it.
I’ve been saying this!! I know like 1 friend only that has seen this movie
This film is a treasure. Its amazing to be honest
🧡
I loves this movie, it was so light chill, without any climax or emotional breakdown

One of the best movies ever
i loved this movie
5:37 is an absolutely hilarious take, you can hear the other cast members quietly dying of laughter off-screen
I saw this movie 8 times in the theatre!
It’s a shame we didn’t get more Willoughby
The Burger Boffin agreed I love wiloughby and we’ve got the wiloughby van as of recently we are decorating it like the movie my brother goes to the same college we are gonna have it signed and enjoy it
I had someone make me a tie dye the same as Willoughby's
InfamousMedia that’s very cool I ordered the fishing excuse shirt he had on in the van I feel like I’m gonna try and be wiloughby lol

Its extremely underrated. I think this movie is in my top Ten.
This is absolute gold

I’m gonna ply this and dazed and confused on repeat at my funeral 😤

I just discovered that Hangman was in this movie. And he was my favorite character in that as well! lol
We need a sequel please goddamit!!!
This is godly
This made me love this movie even more
I would see a 3 or 4 hour Cut of this film. Is soooo dope. IMHO better than Dazed and Confused, another great movie
This movie needs 3 hour version
Gold gold gold
A future cult classic, forever thankful this movie randomly showed up on a streaming service one day!!!
Two Texans in 1980 saying they're not gonna vote Reagan? Waaat?
Love all this.
love this film
"you got van halen?" Nope.
Looks like same place as in Dazed and Confused 1:15
Vince Vaughn in blackface?

The film is set in the year 1980, so the clothing choices are probably pretty accurate since it's a phaser between the 70's and 80's.
They 5 each other way too often for 1980. I remember, having lived through it.
