I have been sewing for 9 months and I adore vintage garments. I have made over 25 vintage garments from the 1940-1950's thus far. I will like to see the One hour 1920's dress being made. I have a 1923 Montgomery Wards vintage FF pattern in my collection. great video
I totally passed up a huge spool of fringe at a flea market for $5...totally regretting that now. It was the exact same color as yours...might have to have my mom go back and see if it's still there. BTW your flapper outfit looks so awesome! I can't wait to see all the other costumes you create :)
@animebaby96 DIY and TB doesn't mean everything has to be made using thrifted or upcycled materials. It just means someone made it themself. It's hard to make a first rate flapper costume using second hand materials (unless you use a thrifted satin sheet for the dress base).
You are the best Corinne! Easy to follow and the relaxed tone of your voice makes me feel more confident to execute my DIY projects. So thanks! For my costume request it would have to be something nerdy like X-Men's Rogue, or any character from Kill Bill, or possibly a dinosaur? Well........definitely a dinosaur. Maybe iconic women would be cool too like Lucille Ball, Jackie Onassis, or Marilyn Monroe. I look forward to your next video! Have a good one Corinne!
This was great, been searching for "make a flapper skirt" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Panadarson Flapper Falbala - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my mate got amazing success with it.
Love it! Thanks and I appreciate how detailed your description of making your own pattern was. I'm trying to teach myself to sew, read and make patterns so this was very helpful. I would love to see a circle skirt with some kind of applique on it!
can you do a tutorial on a marilyn monroe or red carpet gown from the 1950s, i've been looking all over and all I've found is using a prom dress and updating it with new techniques, if you could do one from scratch that would be lovely
@animebaby96 I agree...I love using recycled materials, that's part of what drew me to TB in the first place! But some of the recent vids do use thrifted materials- Kate's t-shirt scarf (recycled tee) and my animal hood for halloween (lining was vintage sheet and outer was fabric I was given). But even if the tutorial was using new items there are still usually some awesome ways to use upcycled materials for at least a portion of the project. Hope that helps give you some ideas :)
I find this really ironic because we are arising the 1920s in social studies and we are doing a project and I'm doing a section on fashion. Awesome video corrinne!!!! It's so cute!!!
In the beginning of the video, i could have sworn that you were wearing a wig because i thought there was no way that you would cut your hair!! but once i saw the video all i thought was OH MY GOD!! its soooo cuteee!!
@ThreadBanger That Rob hates actually and he just took it down and put something else in its place. It took other people commenting that it was "interesting" for me to let it go:) thanks for helping me see the light @caitlinthegenius
Sweet, this is just the kind of tutorial I was looking for! Sewing machine/clothing newb so looking at this for Halloween 2012 might actually work. Thanks!
I love your videos. Will you please do a civil war era ballroom gown with a train in the back of the dress that can be held on the wrist using a loop that is connected to the dress?
I don't understand how you divided the measurements by four but when you were cutting the fabric you did it in half... Is that an error? Should your measurements have been divided by 2 instead of 4?
I know this is a super old comment, but just in case anyone else stumbles across this and has the same question, it's because when she cut it, she cut it on the fold, so the resulting piece was twice as wide as the measurements she used when unfolded, so half the dress.
Thanks Corinne, I have been looking for an easy way to make a flapper dress for my 6 year old daughter. Any tips on making the pattern for a young child, or will it be done the same way?
hey could you show how to make a simple pleated skirt and some clothes for the winter months. thanks that would be great it gets so cold in florida in january through march.
im creating a flapper dress for my art class and i find your video helpful since ive never made an outfit before, but i have a question. when you were showing the design on graph paper you said some of them are divided, like the over bust is divided by for, why is that?
Do you sell your dresses? I'm trying to find an embellished beaded fringe skirt but I can't seem to find one I live in Puerto Rico btw. If you don't can you lead me to an online store that does???! Preferably that has international shipping
Hey I love your videos. I really enjoy using the ideas you give in my own crafting. I'm huge into belly dancing and gypsy style clothing. I would love it if you could a how to for either one. :)
Hey pretty lady, just wondering. Where do you buy your taylors chalk from? I've tried to find chalk like that and the craft and fabrics stores near me don't seem to have that kind, or even chalk wheels for that matter.
can u please tell me what type of Janome sewing machine you're using? or what type would be most suitable for all types of sewing?-if that makes any sense- thank you :)
Could you tell me where you get the materials for your dress? Do they sell online? I'm from germany and I did a similar dress. Just the fringes (i used shorter ones and way less due to the price) cost me more than what would be 70 Dollar! You don't wanna know what the glittery thingy would have cost!
@aglanceatmyworld I understand, but older episodes of threadbanger were really great. Because I could use our old clothes, which was really awesome. Now, on the newer episodes, the new fabrics would be a waste of money and time for my family. It's great that it's DIY, but it just lost some of it's sparkle. The upcycling set it apart from the rest.
Hi, Great tutorrial. Any thoughts about how to do a full body fringe on a black (spandex/polyester) body suit? My biggest concern is making sure the stitches have enough "give" so that I can actually pull it on over my big ole' butt. Would I be better off pinning it (while wearing it) and then basting it in place? HELP!!!!
Hiya, I think if you use a zigzag/ stretch stick on your machine this is supposed to give it some give, but i'm not 100% sure, Im a novice at this sewing fame and maybe you would just have to have strategic gaps or have the spandex stretched out when pinning it then do the zigzag, I see you posed this 6 months ago so would love to know how you went/ what you ended up doing?
I miss projects like this, I wish they could be brought back just once in awhile. ❤️

Her handwriting is so wonderful!!
ThreadBanger...you NEVER let me down when it comes to accessories and costumes

I wonder if Corrine still has all these old projects she did.
Oh my god where do this side of Corrine go?

This looks absolutely amazing... I would definately try this. It would look amazing in black, red, or dusty blue!
I want to see a 50s style dress. I have all of these pictures of my grandmother in polka-dotted dresses from the 50s looking like a gorgeous model!
Love it! Thanks and I appreciate how detailed your description of making your own pattern was. I'm trying to teach myself to sew, read and make patterns so this was very helpful. I would love to see a circle skirt with some kind of applique on it!

@animebaby96 I agree...I love using recycled materials, that's part of what drew me to TB in the first place! I agree a mata hari headdress. Or something inspired like it.
Is there any way you can put the "How to Draft a Pattern" Video back up?
@aglanceatmyworld I understand, but older episodes of threadbanger were really great. Because I could use our old clothes, which was really awesome. Now, on the newer episodes, the new fabrics would be a waste of money and time for my family. It's great that it's DIY, but it just lost some of it's sparkle. I would love to see a threadbanger version of a spirit hood for a tutorial! :)
Oh, the dragon age morrigan, her hoodie with cawl I liked that, or the famous headdress from mata hari.
@ThreadBanger could u do a pin-up costume tutorial???
Did you use 4" in fringe? I'm making this dress for my 4 year old daughter.. Should I buy 4" fringe or 2"

Awesome Job! You should do more 1920's inspired tutorials.
is it possible at all to sew on the sequins with a machine?
did anyone see that weird painting 0:01
Yes
Danica jalandoni finally someone else saw it.
+Sierra Wiskoff I saw it and I couldn't stop laughing
No And no😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐
WHO CARES!!!!!!
Can you do a tutorial on lace gloves? Preferably above the elbow. O
Could you tell me where to get some rayon chainette?? micheals perhaps?!?
Can anyone tell me the name of the first background song she played? Thank you !!
Easy peasy and nice!
it's out of season, but i need to know how to make a bathing suit with padded cups. or lined, however you word it.
The tron outfit would be mind-blowing... but a nightmare to make, surely?
Anything steam-punk, apocalyptic or cyber-punk gets my vote.
Isn't the music your using, the entertainer or elite syncopation?
Can we make the bottom a little bit tighter? If so how? Almost so like it's hugghing us
This is super awesome. Thank you so much!
faved !
Can you please do a goddess costume???? I think I might want to be one but all the store customers look cheap and they kind of suck. 😊
