- My swap-meet Panther Autogyro has her maiden flight on a lovely Winter day, I'm pleased to say it went pretty well. You can help fund my Channel here: / cliffharveyrcplanes for EARLY ACCESS to NEW videos, cheers
Hat off to you Cliff, well done mate. An observation, the tail seemed to be hanging a tad during the flight? be careful not to add too much 'down trim' as the blades could start to come of of autorotation. Not sure what your neutral pitch trim ended up being but it should roughly be 5-7 degrees rearward tilt (using the tail plane as your horizontal datum). A little trick to drop the nose is to add slithers of tape to the blade negative incidence strips (one layer at a time), this will kill a little lift and drop the nose. Plus it aids pre spin.
Morning Richard, I'll take your advice and check the tilt angle, cheers.
Only just caught this video and after watching it I was going to suggest the same things as Richard has also observed.
So yes do as Richard 👍 and well done on the maiden.
@@RcAircraft Thanks Stephen, looking forward to the next outing 👍
Looked great, Cliff. Congratulations!
Hi Pat, thank you 👍
Super👍
Thank you 👍
Been waiting for this for a while. And you nailed it Cliff. Well done.
Thanks Dom, I'm looking forward to the next outing already 👍
Why are your flight stands so far away from where you fly?
Hi David, they're not really that far, it's mainly because of safety and the lay of the land 🙂
You scared you self didn’t you. But for all my piss taking I say bloody well done. It looks right and so it fly’s right. Hat off to you.
I have scared myself a few times and it’s a good thing.
Well done once again.
Smug sod. 😅
Thanks Nick 😁👍
Quite the adventure on that taxi test.... Congrats on the maiden...
Thanks Will, the next flight should be less of an adventure 😁👍
A happy maiden, these machines are great fun 😁👍
Wow Cliff that couldn't have gone better! I'll forgive the no loop on takeoff. 😁 Fantastic job, now I'm excited for the Mantis!
Thanks Adam, the loop was always in the back of my mind, I'm sure it'll do one just not on take off, cheers 😁👍
Cliff that was fantastic, you're pretty good at flying and setting up the Autogyros, well done, miss all the stunt flying 🤣🤣😁😁 Jeff in LA USA
Glad you enjoyed it Jeff, I'm sure some stunts will be forthcoming 😁👍
Perfect maiden Cliff, really cool AutoGyro. How many minuets flight do you get with out the taxi testing ?
I'm guessing it'll be around six minutes 👍🙂
Very impressive! A nice looking model too. I'm beginning to see why you like auto-gyro's. Looking forward to the Mantis now! Thank you for sharing.
Hi Andrew, they are unusual machines (which I like lol), the Mantis is coming along, cheers
Been waiting to see this and it was awesome 👍🏻
Nice build and flight beautiful landing as well 👍🏻
Cheers Cliff ✌🏻
Hi Erric, thanks, worth the wait, cheers
I'm not even flying it, and I am always on edge when you fly these Autogyros. They always seem to have a trick up their sleeve.
Ain't that the truth David, cheers
Lovely model, great maiden, and wow, what a nice landing, well done Cliff
Thanks Mark, landings are the easy part actually, cheers
Congratulations, very nice landing!
Yes, thank you Frederic 👍
Wonderful! As we used to say in the 19 and 60's ... FAR OUT! I hope we see more of this one.
Don't forget to say 'man' at the end, cheers
Excellent flight Cliff. Maidens are always a little nerve wrecking...
How do you like the TX16 with EdgeTX?
I am thinking of upgrading from a Teranis qx7
Hi Stephen, I like it a lot, no regrets so far 👍
Woohoo, great job, Cliff! 👍What a fantastic maiden. Maybe little bit tail heavy ?
Thanks Stephan, it might be worth adding a little more nose weight, cheers
Lovely 👏 Got to be pleased with that 😀
Very pleased, cheers 👍
Wow Cliff ,she flew beautiful!!! What a treat to watch an autogyro model take to the sky. Keep up the good work, it's always fun to come to my computer & find a notification from your sight !! Cheers Mate, From across the pond in the USA . . .
Glad you enjoyed it Don and thanks for your kind words, cheers.
Well done cliff. I know it's not relevant, but I abiding a educated bipe, after seeing yours. But the plan and article I have to not tell you control movements. If you find the time, could you measure yours and let me know please ?. Regards. Maurice
Hi Maurice, thanks, I'm not sure which biplane you're talking about? 🤔
Beautiful bird what plate you are using for delta plate please reply sir ....
Hi, thanks, the plate is 1.5mm fibreglass sheet 👍
Really impressive! How such a flimsy looking thing can fly so well! I wonder what is your next level now that you have mastered the autogyros!
Hi Andrew, still very much a bungling beginner on these birds, there's a long way to go 🤔👍
I felt nervous just watching Lol Great skills to get it up flying like that, and it looked and sounded amazing!! Great maiden flight 😀👍
Thanks Ian, not as tricky as choppers though, cheers
Ooh I don't know about that, I've heard that Autogyros are a skill on their own!! I was well impressed 😀👍
Nice getting better with your solos not many heart stopping moments for you . The other type of solos are more entraining for us viewers not so much for you LOL
Sorry about that Robert 😁👍
Well done Cliff. Hopefully you'll get many more flights on this one to hone your autogyro skills 😬
Hi Bob, thanks, touch wood, I've a long way to go I feel, cheers
What a sight almost as neat as the one I saw at airshow around 50 years ago
Hi Kirk, that makes you as old as me lol, cheers
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes Maybe older I was 17 or so at the time
That was an epic first flight, Cliff! It flew surprisingly well!
Thanks Richard, it needs a couple of tweaks but not too bad, cheers 👍🙂
Good flight Cliff.

Cliff that's a winner 🏆
Thanks Rafael 🙂👍
Wow, that was fantastic. What a stellar landing. Loved the sound of it too, it sounded like a true heli
The sound is awesum isn't it, cheers
The sound of the blades is awesome. So glad to see it went well for you cliff. Gotta love the rush of a successful maiden!
Thanks Jake, a rush indeed!
Cliff apologies. Predicted text. It's the Svenson wayfarer. You fitted a moveable camera in it. You did a UA-cam video about three biplanes. I so liked the look of the Wayfarer, I got hold of the plan. But it doesn't qoute control surface movements.
Regards
Hi Maurice, the Wayfarer is quite a smooth model to fly, I tend to set up my models with quite a lot of throw and I use exponential. To answer your question I have about 17mm on the elevator, as much as possible on the Rudder and, due to tight hinges, my ailerons go up about 15mm and down almost 0, this doesn't affect the flight, usually it's a good idea to have more up than down anyway to prevent adverse yaw. By the way you could ask the question under the video for the Wayfarer I would still see it, cheers 🙂
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes thanks so much cliff
