I think that needle bearing on the piston has that much play on purpose.. it’s probably like that to accommodate different cylinder/piston expansion rates. Also, if anything touches that needle bearing from the side, it might wear it out.
Great videos, surprisingly never expected anyone else to make a yz85 into a supermoto! I have a 2000 yz80LW that i have just finished turning into a road legal supermoto managed to get lucky with my wheels and my local wheel shop had some spare 17inch 32 spoke rims laying around so they put them on the stock hubs for me, after that i added a full electrical system to pass an MOT here in the uk and waiting for them to confirm the registration now :D Any questions you have along the way be sure to let me know and ill help out as best i can. Good luck with the build buddy!
That's awesome! I've made a few test runs on the street and it's going well so far. I'm going to have a total loss battery system for now. Maybe in the future get a better stator and regulator/rectifier to convert AC to DC and add a battery.
@@bumpstartnether Exact same as me, had to go for the total loss system due to no one making a stator that will fit my year of bike works great now i made a few changes though!
@@bumpstartnether hey just throw it out there Yamaha made a DT 80 and 100 in the 80s and 90s you might be able to pull a stator / lighting coil from that
I love the videos on the yz85 I myself have a yz85 and have been thinking of getting another set of rims and turning into a supermoto Im super bummed that it got wrecked but also looking forward to you rebuilding it oh one last thing would you make extra spacers for the wheels and give me a price and I'd be happy to buy them keep up the awesome videos man
Darnel C That’s awesome! Yeah I would’ve done that if I was gonna race minimoto. GatorRimz don’t have any 14” rims though, they sell 12” and 17”. In my opinion the 12” look like little toy wheels.
Bumpstart 'n Ether maybe it just needs a little running idk i’m not no professional but it’s coming together working on a stage 4 predator 212cc racing kart myself

Darnel C thanks! I’m excited to see how it looks all put together. Hoping in the next few weeks.

Part 3 is up now!
It sounds like a moped lol what type of of pipe is on there because it should not be sounding like that
I think the metallic rattling is due to parts not being tightened down completely
The sound is all the tools on the motorcycle stand rattling around. I apologize for that.
What are those rims and tires called and what website did you get them from?

Where did u get the rims
I got them from AliExpress. They are Chinese. I had to modify them by milling them down and turning sleeve for the axle and other things.
I converted a crf150r to use for minimoto anyway I have gator rimz

Bumpstart 'n Ether I have the 12" with black hubs. Supposed to have a quicker turn in. That's what I was going for
why is it sounding more of a 4 stroke
? I'm not sure I understand how it sounds like a 4 stroke?

@@jayroberts1297 maybe you are hearing all the tools rattling around on the motorcycle lift?
