Yall are correct about the cult thing. When nic cage did an interview 2 years ago for this movie he said he plays a possessed serial killer who gives families these possessed dolls that make them do horrible things, but that’s all he said he could talk about and didn’t say anything else.
Dude is right Cage said he plays “a deranged Geppeto type” 1 of 2-maybe 3 ways this can go 1-Cage isn’t killing anyone, who influences others through the occult to kill for him (w/1.B. being, Cage then turns the victims into twisted puppets of sorts) 2. Through some type of occult practice, Cage brings a “possessed” or “demonic” puppet to a family-which influences the family to-implode. Insanity, someone kills, etc & maybe Cage does some killings himself-but mostly I’m thinking a “Manson” type, influencing others in some way; this answers the violent acts we’ve seen that aren’t actually committed by Cage-but tech it IS Cage doing it. (Would also account for a seemingly long span of time) Creating either puppets out of the dead victims, or some type of occult possessed puppet that is the influence-would answer for the various bodies or maybe “dolls” covered by black veils/sheets “Deranged Geppeto”-he’s obviously a “puppet master” in some sick way.
