This is so cool! I always loved performing in front of audiences like this (orchestra and choir). Obviously not like this but outside venues to a variety of people who may or may not have opportunities to go out and pay to see concerts.
About the time I was going to observe that the crowds along the parade route were not as large as usual. then I see the masses BEHIND the band at 11:00. Yikes! I have read that the KT Band is not that popular in Japan, but judging by the huge crowds that they always attracts for any of their events, I find that hard to believe.
The band's own marching coach (Yokoyama) stated that "if you are not Tokyo-based, then you get no publicity in the country." It's much like how New York City attracts so much attention in the US media coverage. I watch other Japanese school bands throughout their country, but I never see huge crowds like this with hundreds of video cameras mounted on poles so that they can shoot over the massive crowds along the sidelines. The annual Sakura Parade through a long-but-narrow mall is almost comical in this regard. If I am a 16-18 year-old band member, I get the feeling that I am an idol of some sort, which I'm sure many of them find thrilling. In Japanese competitions, the rules are written to disfavor dancing, putting the KT troupe at a disadvantage from the start. But the school sticks by its principles that it will continue doing what it does, even if it means losing contests. Their mission, says band founder Hiramatsu, is to make audiences happy, not to win trophies.

@@keiraselia7447 This is the Brass Expo, at the site of Expo '70, in Osaka. It's a yearly parade for a host of schools of all years. For KT, it's the introduction of the new members in their first public performance. You can tell the 1st graders by the wide white stripe on their pants; the 2nd and 3rd graders have the thin white stripe. Indeed these ARE their training clothes but they always wear them to this performance. I don't know the reason why, but I've never seen them in their superhero costumes at this event. ...Joe

But 1st of all, let me say, if i ever visit Japan, the one thing i really want to see the most is seeing KT live with my own eyes, and do little dance on the side as i walk with other spectator. lol. It might look weird for native Japan to see a foreigner dancing on a HS band, lol, but i don't care, their performance is just too enjoyable to not participate. They make me happy 😁

ありますが、演奏している学生さんの怪我が心配です。

ブルーメ午後の動画もとても気に入っています。
慶次郎様はまだ橘がメジャーじゃない頃から動画に収めておられますが、周囲のギャラリーや撮影者にもいつも配慮されてますよね。
撮影してるのに前方部に不躾にカメラ被せて撮る人も最近増えましたが水の中まで頭が下がります。先頭から最後尾まで、右に左に全体を撮影されてて周囲の状況もとっても見応えありました。
平和そのものだね。
