Love how you get more and more excited during the video 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Great one, btw. Thanks for teaching these to us folks, who cannot afford paid courses. Appreciate it 🙏🏻😚

I used notion for a while and I found your channel by chance some weeks ago. Just came back to Notion and no I started this serie with you so I can improve my skills with notion and…. It’s being AMAZING… Thanks.. .Keep up the great work.
That was fantastic, thank you so much. This my first time trying anything with Notion and having a habit tracker is a great start for me this year. I love how genuinely passionate you are about this and sharing your knowledge with others!
So great to read my friend! It’s fun to do and fab when I hear it’s so helpful for people! Welcome to the channel! Make sure you are on the Notion from Scratch mailing list for new builds :)
Simon, I had so much fun learning how to build my new habit tracker in Notion! Thank you for laying out each step in a clear & concise manner! Can't wait to follow the next steps! Cheers!
Ah love it. I spend this week doing some serious habit tracker experimentation for this years Life OS template - it’s getting really cool! Automation is here in Notion! :)
I would love to see a mini-build series on things for studying, like a notes page set-up, weighted grade tracker etc. as well as a how-to on a simplified version of your finance tracker!
This habit tracker looks very nice. Only one tip: you can actually combine the "End Date" and "Start Date" property into one (e.g. "Start-End") by just checking the box to set an end date and then to calculate the Duration you just chance: prop(Start Date) -> start(prop(Start-End)) and prop(End Date) -> end(prop(Start-End)). This is just a little thing to minimize the properties and makes it just a bit cleaner. wish you the best.
@@AyoAwotona the new formula for Duration in Weeks would be: datebetween(end(prop("date_range")), start(prop("date_range")), "weeks") +1 And instead of the two individual dates you just have the property date_range
@@ShadowPaint Thank you!! So I pasted your formula and it didn't work, so I created a new 'Timeframe' column and used this instead: dateBetween(end(prop("Timeframe")), start(prop("Timeframe")), "weeks") The formula I used works however, the result in the 'Duration In Weeks' is wrong. Based on the time range I entered (Oct 17, 2022 - Nov 6, 2022 , it should be 3 weeks but the result comes up as 2 weeks. Any idea why?
@@AyoAwotona oh yes sry i mixed up the order :) and at tge end you have to put a +1 because notion does a weird thing where it doesnt include the end date in its count (the days between 17. Oct - 6. Nov should be 21 but notion thinks its 20 and thatswhy you have to add 1 so it is correct. I will edit my comment so that people that come across it later have the correct one. For an exact explenation how it is calculatet (i think) it takes the date 6.nov 2022 and subtracts the date 17.oct (or something of this sort) and by doing so this mistake of the one day occurs.
This was really great mate! My first build on Notion and very happy to have done this along side you. Looking forward to part 2 and would also be very grateful if you plan on building a Finance and Investment tracker with some really good visuals. Awesome stuff mate!! Thank you!
Ah thanks! Great to hear. I do have an existing financial tracker build that would be easy to visually build on already on UA-cam - but will definitely work on a new version with the new features - nice ideas thanks. :)
Thank you so much for this video! I've been watching a lot of your other videos and this one has helped me so much in understanding how to use the formula section! Going to start using this for my bass practice! 💪
Thank you so much for your wonderful video, this is exactly what I needed! With is the new formula update? I can't for the life of me figure out what the new wording would be for the habit tracker; progress column. Could you please help me out?
Ah thanks Misha! Lots more videos to come on UA-cam in 2022 with a full launch of the rest of the course into 2023 - glad to hear it’s working for you! :)
I thoroughly enjoy this series and love my bourgeoning Simplified Notion! 💖Do you plan to update the formulas section? Your content is relatively fresh (~18 mos) a/o this writing, but it seems Notion already iterated its "formula language." I was able to follow along and make adjustments, but the formula doodads presented (to me) are distinctly different from your model. I'd like to see a stand-alone tutorial on Notion formula functions-or point me in some direction. Notion has pretty good documentation, but I'm a little lost in the weeds over there. 🙏
@@BetterCreating Yes, I finally picked up on the update after reading through a few comments and hacks. I'm not alone! 😊But it's also buried under the fold. I'm happy you'll consider doing a dedicated piece on formulas..that would rock!! Thanks for replying. It's so lovely. It all reminds me of the feeling when I was a kid with a brand-new paper calendar I'd rip open on New Year's Eve with my stickers and colored markers, getting all ready to be freshly nerdy all over again. Now, I get to design my own with you as a guide. 🌠🎆
@@BetterCreating thank you so much. I figured it out yesterday with the help of online articles and notion doc but thank you for providing the updated formula's. Cheers.
@@BetterCreating Got it! Thank you.🔥I spent some time in the comments section for this exact reason. I figured it out, too (by brute force trial and error.) Having the new material pinned will help out a lot as I launch into vid #2 of the series.
I followed the video and built the tracker, but I don't understand how I mark or check that I did the habit each day. Is there a video on how to accomplish this?
Have you gone over in any videos or do you plan to go over how you manage all your content in notion? I have a podcast, email newsletter, IG and Pinterest and I am really struggling with the best way to manage it all.
Yes I have: try these: 1. Guide for creators: my Notion system: ua-cam.com/video/KZ0koqMm1E8/v-deo.html 2. Custom client relations in Notion: ua-cam.com/video/KZ0koqMm1E8/v-deo.html 3. How I develop creative ideas in Notion (older vid) : ua-cam.com/video/sSxHMRLjjHo/v-deo.html
Is there a way to have the gallery of the habits update with a button or checkbox every day so I don’t have to manually go in the log column and update the number to change the progress bars?
9:11 In a database on the headings, the slash doesn't work for getting the emojis. Neither does the colon. Maybe it's only on Mac. I tried doing a cut-and-paste from another page, but the icon shows up as a rectangle. Oh well.
No it won’t. Go to edit on the Notion browser tabs and select emoji and symbols from there. However: you don’t really need to now since Notion enabled icons for database items: just click rename and you can select one or upload. Much better! :)
Hello, I love this tutorial I’m trying to use it right now but the done button is highlighting blue, to state that it is done, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong and everything matches in the text
Hey - think you are freeing to a formula - if so check the the prop(“COLUMN”) is matching exactly what you have called your columns, and also that all commas are in right place. Good luck!
He mentioned the reward of ticking a box, but doesn't show that here in this setup. How I would use this, with a checkbox instead of the log number property?
Ah yeah - sorry if that was misleading - more a figure of speach in this Notion set up: I’ve worked it out a different way in my new slide OS templates - check out my new tour vid see my my recent video on Buttons for how it works :)
I built this along with you. My tracker where we have number columns has 123 next to it and I can’t get it to go away. Any suggestions? I use an iPad Pro for my computer if that helps
That 123 box is just the formatting options - is that what you are referring to? Notion has a few limitations for building on the iOS apps - desktop allows further options like resizing columns and moving blocks by drag and drop. But I think you are just here referring to the formatting options for a column?
Hey Simon! Been basically binging your Notion content recently lol.. I'm trying to achieve something that incorporates tasks being delegated to team members on given projects. These tasks are generally the same for every project, so it would be awesome to create a set list of tasks when a specific project type is created, but then those individual tasks are assigned to team members. Do you have any videos that walk through something like that that you could point me towards? Otherwise I think this would make for an awesome addition to this builder series! Keep up the awesome work. You've been blowing my mind with what's possible in Notion! lol
Ah thanks for watching and great to hear. Yes - you would need to have a paid pro plan I reckon and then you can add a people column to the template. Alternatively, on a few plan just use a select column and tags for names and filter by this if easier. I don’t currently have a video on this but it will be a nice addition in the future for sure. Once I have launched my new templates for 2023 I’ll take a look! Thanks. :)
I created this habit tracker. but let say i want to do running 300 times in a year 5 times in a week. How can i let it fall under every tuesday wednesday friday saterday sunday. Like these are my habits for monday and these for tuesday. Is that possible in this build ?
Yeah working on a new approach to this: I think using the new recurring database template feature will be great as it can generate a habit or perhaps a daily log with habit checkboxes in on the days you wish. Would then have a record of when checked and when not: could be nice: but needs some investigating!!
