Congrats on getting pre-release access now! That's huge! I'm not a crawler expert, but this truck seems incredible for an entry level. The lines you were taking seem nuts. Once you throw on some brass knuckles and the tires are broken in this will be amazing! Great review!

It’s base camp morning up in here. Just watched 2 others… by some guys who claim you’re gonna be on a podcast with next week. Lookin forward to that more than this truck, but a kit version would be pretty cool.
Great opportunity to do a beginners modification series. Take it over the same obstacles each time and talk through what the mods achieve and if they are worth doing. Have some that the truck can't do box stock and gradually tweak it until it can do them.
New sub. Enjoying all your Capra content. Been watching a bunch of your videos lately. New to crawling. Local shop has the 4ws Capra in stock. Going to need to pick one up tomorrow lol. I have the total mayhem side of RC covered w/ the Xmaxs I abuse daily lol. Keep up the good work.
A solid rig! 👍 Performance is pretty damn good, it has decent rubber (they look great!) and a solid electronics package. Happy to see they did away with the esc/receiver combo. The body is 'ok' - the side windows are a bit small and I don't like that they use stickers? The bumpers look nice but are going to interfere with clearance - too bad. The gearing in the transmission looks to be spot on and I expect it will be durable. Removing the dig simplifies things and probably won't be missed (although, I love mine)? People are already saying it's a Traxxas clone but there are only so many ways to skin a cat so, a bit unfair. I know many Axial faithful will be unimpressed but, overall, a great way to get into crawling, good price and tons of potential! Thanks for the video!

Nice! Seems like a solid, no nonsense Rig for a good price. Looks like it performed really well for an RTR with zero mods. I think this was a great move by Axial and it will be a good platform to build from for a lot of people.

Running on the sand stone is a good time , I'm just a little South of you in Vegas and we pretty much have the same terrain.. It's pretty cool you're on full time now pumping out awesome info.. Might be time to make A-day run out to San hollow...

Always enjoy your videos. This truck was a major let down for me though. I get what hey we’re trying to do but the body was a fail. Looks like the wish version of a trx4. I know inflation is up and this truck is running portals but I bought my 10.2 Cherokee for $340 brand new. Grant it’s been a couple years but at $340 it at least came with a nice body. Now if they offer this as a builders kit less body, wheels and electronics I’d be interested in that. I like how they are going back to a basic vehicle. No 2spd or dig. Less slop in the trans. Keep making great videos.
I think the TRX gets the nod in that category…but nice to see Axial in that market.
I think I’d get the base camp to use as a parts truck if I ever get into building trucks. Like for the axles or the transmission.

Great Video and of course you make it drive well. Seems like a bit of weight in the front and a different tire/wheel combination would make it complete.
We need a drive off -this, a TRX4 and an Ecto. Box stock my money is on the Ecto. If you were going to put the same tire on all to make it fair what would you choose?
I picked up a new Base Camp yesterday, awesome truck! FWIW, mine has the receiver in a waterproof box. Maybe since yours is an early one sent to you by Axial, it was kinda pre-production? Does your gray one you got for drag racing have the box?
Definitely not the same Falken Wild Peaks that come on the Early Ford Bronco. These seem way nicer.

@@westdesertwheeler2666 be even better if Axial would just give us a KIT!!!! Keep the garbage electronics. Keep the glue on wheels and hard tires. Keep the ugly poorly proportioned body and give us a true base to build on. Call it the Boot Camp. 🤣
Welp.. I might have to get one after seeing this. Use the ar45s on a flat rail build and put the straight axles under this one 👌🏼
I think I may end up straight axle swapping this as well. Make it hug the ground a bit more for the real hard lines

Axials Trx4 sport truck,
This brand new Axial is the competitor to the Trx4 sport, but the Traxxas one looks higher quality.
Axial gets bonus points for the metal panhard though!

One has trailing arms based off a 10.2 and one is a basecamp

How much tuning is needed on the base camp to clear the mouse trap? Ha ha!
Another weirdo transmission from Axial. Its 5 gear but not really. It has the ability to run portals or straight axles when you switch around a gear set. I would think this setup is probably better than the original 10.3 transmission. It doesn't have 2 speeds, but the original 10.3 trans hardly made a difference between the 2 speeds. Not sure why they abandoned the 3 gear transmission. It would be nice to be able to throw one in without buying from other companies.

8 months later… do you still have the base camp?
Yes it has been in limbo while I put a custom body and bed cage on it and swapped it to straight axle with rock pirates parts. Full build but takes time and money

Trx4 sport copy
In my personal opinion, the truck looks cheap and toy like. If you're going to spend that kind of money, you may as well get a TRX4 sport.
A TRX4 sport looks exactly the same with toy like axles. Sport is painted windows and no inner fenders. Very similar.
