Good luck on the build peeps - Let me know if you run into any major issues =) Dont forget to flip your template when you build the right arm aswell =)
charles santo super late but yeah, in game the Neck Piece, Chest and forearms are all sections with straps, I've been sat on exodus for the last day adding details to my piece staring at the ODST 😂 I'm looking forward to making the neck piece they have, the chunky neck piece is awesome!
Thanks you so much for this video I just got my foam today and I can't wait to go through all the builds and make them! Really well made templates and book! Well done.
Alternatively to join the armour (like at 2:55) a zip hot glued into place works as well - and then you don't have to worry about squeezing your hand through a gap ;)
I wouldn't use those thin kiddy foam sheets (sorry can't think of another way to describe them) because they are actually thinner than cutting Eva foam in half and it might not give it as much of a 3D look, I'm not sure if that's what you meant by thinner foam but just thought I'd mention it
Hey Andrew, I am about to start working on my own armor sets using these videos, I see you mention that sharp blades and replacements are ideal, otherwise your cut/scores/bevels turn out rough and jagged, would a 'HEAT KNIFE' solve this issue? for the main cutting parts and what not to help cut down on blade costs, would these turn out 'smoother?' or just mar the edges and surfaces more??If you have any ideas or comments please let me know ASAP, that goes for anyone else also, any suggestions are greatly welcome.
A heat knife should help, your Eva foam is going to be kind of burnt on the sides. But, that will fix the issue in theory. I have some friends that use heat knifes and they say it works great.
@@ThebigZ1353 i've been using 6mm yoga mats for this bc is kinda cheap and accesible where i live, but even with that limitation i ve been able to: helmet chest pec plate ab plate thighs 1 knee shin and feet
@galacticpotato833 oh I'm fairly certain that for the helmet it was yoga mats as the material, but for everything else I'm pretty sure it's the 10mm. Either way if it's working out good then that's up to you to use 6mm yoga mats
bought two packs man, each contain 4 I believe cant remember exactly, but with the too I managed o make the chest, helmet, ab and rear plate, and the thigh plates and one shoulder, I still have two slabs of foam left
Eva foam can be any where form $10to $30 it depends on where you are And you can probably find it at craft stores, Walmart, Kmart, reject store and so on just look it up on the web for your town
the details mostly, and the main chest plate is a different shape. the main details are in the thigh pieces and legs as well as the chest. that's really it, in halo 3 the ODST legs resemble Spartans a little more and the chest is smoother.
Nerf? Yeah, unless you're being shot at point blank with modded guns it shouldn't even dent the stuff. Airsoft tho? Yeah, you're gonna ruin your cosplay

Thank you so much Andrew I'm really looking forward to building this once i get some foam.
were do you buy the eva foam
+Codi Weeks Just look on Amazon for packages or rolls of it, or go to an arts and crafts store and see if they have it
how fragile is the suit
1=cardboard
10=Tough plastic
+GradeA UnderA very sturdy only week part is at the glue seems
i think the science fictiony thingy was a belt loop, because this is segmented armor in the game

For a difficult build, you explain perfectly! Can't wait to start!
The added pieces for decoration are generally called greebles or nurnies in prop making.

can you make a small model sentinel from halo 2? that would be a very good how to video. just a thought.
Those 7 dislikes are call of duty fans
this looks fun can't wait to do it
Another great tutorial. For the pieces you are cutting in half we can just use thinner foam, correct? Thanks.

Yep. But 6mm foam would be about right. Just a though. Cheers.
ooh
If I really want to make it stay together should I use super glue?
This is great! My son wants me to make him an ODST costume for halloween. How do I adjust the size for a skinny 11 year old?
not sure how to make this fit my arms any suggestions? I tried to add to one end of the template, however it still doesn't want to fit.
Can you help doing some Destiny weapons?

Did you use half an inch for the whole armor
Yes
i don´t know if you still see the comments, but what thickness of foam do you use
Judging by the diamond design, it's a out 10mm thickness. Also good to see someone else trying to build this so recently😅

how many sheets of foam do I need to make this costume
My arm is way bigger it didn’t even make it to the middle part of it also good instruction explaining
How much does it cost to make all of it?
Instead of bisecting the various pieces, could you use 6mm foam on the thinner ones??
I realise that this might be a bit late, but yeah, you could definitely use thinner foam for the thinner details instead of halving the foam mats
How many pieces of foam did you get to make the whole set, excluding do-overs?

so what's the big difference between this design and the one in Halo 3 ODST?

The gloves I guess man I love being late
Dude does the armor still look decent after a nerf war
Bruh it's foam darts

Does this work for kids too?
Yes
Kids model at page 43, to page 68.
I am building the kids one, as i am still a kid. :l
Lol, 1 ODST's pod didn't drop
Your voice makes me sleepi
Please do an energy sword
I think that would be easy to make without a totorial
