Ha ha with the handle:) Very nice job on this. Know this is an old video. Figured I would try anyway. My Papa passed and I’ve inherited a saw that looks very much like this one. I haven’t looked anywhere yet for someone to restore it. I don’t have the talent or the tools unfortunately. Do u have any idea if making new handles hurts the value? Not sure if they are broken, it’s in my Mom’s garage now, will have to take a look. If I can’t find anyone close to fix mine up, would u be up for me sending to u? It would be down the road a bit, I know it’s going to cost a lot. I don’t intend on ever selling it, I just don’t want to make any mistakes. My Papa was my favorite person and this saw is really important to me. Lord knows how many of my family have used it or for how long. They lived in the deep country on lots of land in the state of Georgia. Thanks for listening🌸

By all means I’m no expert!
I doubt new handles would hurt the value providing they were made of the same or similar species timber. I’m sure you’ll find someone in the US to restore your cross cut, but I’m humbled you even want me to restore it, I’m in Australia and freight would be costly.

What was the liquid that you used was it like rust bust ?

What is the function of the width (or kerf) of the saw? Another words, some saws are only 2+ inches wide while others are a lot more than that. So generally what does that mean? The wider the blade the...?
This saw is 7 inches wide with plane teeth, so it typically would have been used for log bucking.
The wider blade will assist with a straighter cut.
Wide blade = BIG log I guess
