Thanks for the video. Just discovered an old Tenon saw and would love to restore it so this has given me the guide. First time doing this sort of thing, so wish me luck! The video was simple and easy to follow without having to buy a whole load of new tools.
A file cuts on the push stroke - never pull the file backward in the metal; ruins the teeth. For a true restoration, originally the wood was almost always finished with shellac.
I have this same saw and the adjustable metal jig for cutting miters that comes with it. Would have been cool to see the whole thing restored. It's really well made. I still use the one I got from my grandfather for cutting miters.
Another lovely restoration! Can't wait for your next video :) I am about to get started actually I have started restoring old things tools and toys but no videos yet!
Great video! The entire saw turned out nicely but that spine sure popped nicely! Is it possible for you to put on the screen what solutions you are using to get the work done? For example when you are making the solution for the rust remover just add a screen caption of what you are mixing up. Would help some of us who don't really know where to start :) Thanks from Canada!
Hi joey! Thanks for the comment! I’ll add a full in depth description of what I done in the comment section of the video tonight for you. I will also add more descriptive texts in videos coming out soon. Thanks again!

You should give restoring it a shot! Great to hear tools are being passed down in your family :)
Nice video! I would of probably finished off with applying machine wax and a buff to prevent further oxidation.
Yeah you’re right Barry! I’ll order some machine wax!
Really cool video, love your stuff

Hello :) Currently editing my next video as we speak! Indeed I am friend, Scotland!
That turned out well! You have yourself a new subscriber :)
Why thank you friend! I’ll return the favour! :)
Great job on the saw! One quick question: what’s the purpose of adding salt to the vinegar? Thanks.
To remove rust
This is some sweet manly ASMR!
Awesome 😎
find yourself some old, pre chainsaw, logging saws and learn how to bring them back to life. See "the "Crosscut Sawyer" forum!
I have one as wall decoration in my workshop if you’d like to see it restored in a later video I can make it happen! 😎
Were the screws not brass? Therefore not needing a vinegar bath.
I put the brass in the vinegar as it helps to remove old patina :) wanted all parts to be super shiny!!
This may be a dumb question but what is the tool you used to brighten up the blade? Is it some kind of buffer?
Not at all! its a brass wire wheel :) you can get attachments for loads of power tools pretty cheap!
nicely done. #48
Thanks! I appreciate it 🙌🏻

Hi you need a special tool to reset the teeth after sharpening them.
The saw got stuck at the end then you walked away.

Saw sets are available on line as used. Adjustable for different teeth numbers. Always check or reset to ensure kerf is correct.
