The European Witch Craze, taught by Professor Barry was the most exciting and well taught history course I did at the University of Exeter. If people want a really good introduction to the subject in terms of England then there is a very interesting book by Keith Thomas called religion and the decline of magic. The is also a book by Brian Levack called the witch hunt in Early Modern Europe which is informative and well organised but less fun to read. For all I know there are now more modern books now on the subject but these were the main ones we used on the course.
