Book scorpions! (or pseudoscorpions) They get that name because they eat tiny mites that eat the leather bindings in books. They are of course completely harmless to us (and they are pretty cute)
these are Pseudoscorpions, or false scorpions :) they are arachnids, they have no venom and are harmless. interestingly tho, some of them can produce silk.
Tailless whip scorpions aren't scorpions either, they're just another form of arachnid related to spiders and scorpions. Kind of like how a daddy long leg isn't technically a spider.
Zawisza Czarny thank you and Stephanie Chesterfield I'm sorry for not responding I didn't get the notification for some reason. But yeah when I said "daddy longlegs" aren't spiders I was talking about Opiliones not Pholcidae.
I found a couple of those in my compost pile earlier this year. At first I thought they were baby scorpions. Then I noticed the lack of tail and sting. I think they're really cool. They're rather passive creatures... Unless you're a tiny mite.
Me and my friends found one of those in our school yard, we thought it was a tiny scorpion then we realized it don’t have a tail so my friends decided to call it a weird looking ant
Apparently, Pseudoscorpions have venom glands in their claws (I assume they are much too small to affect a human). They also lack box lungs, unlike true scorpions.
I know this was a while ago, but I was literally just reading an article about "book scorpions." They aren't actually scorpions, but they eat the mites that live in old books! They are so tiny and cute! Wouldn't want them in my shelves, but super interesting! Thanks for sharing them with us!
Up here in the, not, cold North we are familiar with this tiny Arachnid. They can be easily found among archives, book depositories, news stands and wherever bound paper is being stored. The Book Scorpion is really a type of spider in which the front legs, for whatever reason, has turned to mimic the pincers of a scorpion. Here, they grow to be approx. 1-1.5 centimeters in length and assume a light tan brown coloration as adults. Non-venomous and generally even tempered, to my experience, they do not object to being handled as adults. Great vid.
It's a pseudoscorpion. They have poison glands in their claws and eat clothes moth larvae, carpet beetle larvae, booklice, ants, mites, and small flies. Sorry my english is not the best.
My mother did not want me to get a tarantula. Then I gave my mother reasons why a tarantula is great. And the next day I bought things for a spider without a "yes" from my mother. Now I have a G. rosea and my mother loves that spider. :D My tip: buy a terrarium and everything else so that your parents realize how important it is for you.

Well. There is a scorpion called the Whip Scorpion. They don't have pinchers or a tail stinger. I've seen them in New Mexico EDIT: oof never mind u did talk about them
I found smaller pseudobois where I live in the North. They were of course protecting my books from wood louts and the like- but I had to be more careful because they were more often than not found in my bathroom on the walls... And even in a TP roll lol. But still, they're cool little guys and make good guardians for bookworms and their collections.
He’s really cute! He looks exactly like the little bugs that were on the walls occasionally in the house where I grew up. They were fun to put your finger in front of because they’d always walk backward just like this one.
I don't think you need to be very rich to take care of arachnids. My friend has 7 tarantulas and 2 snakes and she's not very rich. She told me that its not incredibly hard to take care of them.
Like others said it's a Pseudoscorpion. Here in Sweden we call them "Book scorpions" (free swe/eng translations of me). Scientific name: Chelifer cancroides, and yes they belong to the Arachnid 'family'. These guys buffet would be: Liposcelididae (Barklice), we call them 'Book flee' here. Springtails (Collembola) and mites & tics is also on the menu. And yes! It can run backwards AND sideways with no trouble stumbling on it's own 8 legs.
I live in the northern area of British Columbia in Canada, and those pseudoscorpions live in the walls of the houses, and they’re really cute and harmless.

I actually remember catching one. I called it spider scorpion because they basically eat mites and uses animals and people to travel to different locations.

I can found tgis scorpion in tunisia ?
these are Pseudoscorpions, or false scorpions :)
they are arachnids, they have no venom and are harmless. interestingly tho, some of them can produce silk.
They are also sometimes called book scorpions, because they will eat book lice and dust mites that feed on book binding.
I’ve seen those around my house and have always wondered what they are .. they seem aggressive but luckily like you said are harmless !
Do they stay so small?
Sometimes nature is just like fuck it then it makes these fuckers
Scorpions are part of the arachnid family too, just a different branch, iirc.
People calling them pseudoscorpions, all I see are *Land Lobsters*
