Nice idea. The investment in a Dremel was a good idea. By disconnecting the beeper on the mother board you will not get that annoying beeping when the power is out.
you can even have 12V Battery 12A with it i have 12V battery 12Amp and i have 12V battery 7.2Amp runing my i do 9hours not best battery if used deep cycle battery 50A run much longer
Here's the deal. The UPS is rated to handle the inverter current for the time that a 7ah battery can run with a full say 250-300 watt draw when the power goes out. But with a 9ah battery it would obviously run quite a bit longer. It really does make a difference. Inverting the power to high voltage creates heat in the circuits but honestly if you watch other people's videos on this subject it's likely completely safe. I've seen people connect car batteries, which are also lead acid 12v batteries, in parallel, and there you get a ups that will last days in some applications. Secondly, they make 9ah batteries these days with the same dimensions as a 7ah battery, so no need to carve it out anymore. Just look up or measure the dimensions of your 7ah battery and make sure the 9ah you buy is the same. It will add about 20 minutes to hours of extra coverage depending on application. For example, if you use this for your home router and modem, it will last several hours because the draw is at most like 20-30 watts, and much less without activity. Yes, when the power goes out your modem still can get the internet because hubs around your area have much better backup power systems than this.
Side Cuts and pliers will do the same job and I have had a fair amount of success keeping it clean. also if you are comfortable with it and have the equipment you can always 3D print a case for the UPS circuits that can go over any battery.
Your run time is dependent on size of battery and model of UPS. APC350ES will only run 1.5 hours max, it is designed in the unit. But if you find a APC###U or M models can run for up to 8 hours depending on your battery.

Invest in a dremel. And use it for cutting and grinding out that battery cavity. But, upgrading the battery is a great idea!

With the 9aHr battery, how many hours of continuous use did you get?
