"The Man Who Sold The World" is a song that Nirvana covered in their 1993 MTV Unplugged concert. The song was originally sang by David Bowie from his 1970 album of the same name. Singer Midge Ure had also covered the song in 1982, 11 years before Nirvana. Kurt had listed "The Man Who Sold The World" to be 45th of the most favorite album on the list of his top 50 favorite albums. The song was later released as a promotional single from Nirvana's Unplugged album in the year 1995.

You even got the live mistakes in there spot on. Seriously the best version. Thank you!
Lmao this song is so perfect, didn't even realise there were mistakes in this
I think they just used dulicating/panning/centering to mix the vocals out. I think its the original instrumentation. Vocals are usually in the center of a mix and guitars are panned...and if you perfectly double two frequencies on top of each other they cancel each other out so you can reduce or remove vocals that way.
2:56 this has to be the original instrumentation. They have Kurt’s guitar solo screw up (starting on the wrong note) that is present on the original recording.
@@timchurch2390correct.
@@timchurch2390 literally 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
This blows me away!!!!!! Awesome job its like magic!!!!!!
Nirvana took Bowie's song to the stratosphere! One of the cases when the cover surppased the original.
Noooo¡¡ enloquecí. con mis bongoes y haciendo la melodía de la guitarra en el final pero con la voz. Esa parte es magica
YEAH BOI! HAPPY HOLIDAYS.
Best song ever by bowie and cover by nirvana my fave band. Me nd my late friend use to jam to this. 2 acoustics. I miss him. I think of him when I hear the nirvana version

its 2 years and its still the sad and my fav song
you are so talented! I am sure that it took so much time and effort to get to that point so good job! God bless and Jesus loves y’all
We passed upon the stair
We spoke of was and when
Although I wasn't there
He said I was his friend
Which came as a surprise
I spoke into his eyes
I thought you died alone
A long long time ago
Oh no, not me
We never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world
I laughed and shook hand
And made my way back home
I searched for form and land
For years and years I roamed
I gazed a gazeless stare
We walked a million hills
I must have died alone
A long, long time ago
Who knows?
Not me
I never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world
Who knows?
Not me
We never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world
Thanks, that was a David Bowie song
What's next?
I didn't screw it up, did I?
Okay, but here's another one I could screw up
What is it?
Am I gonna do this by myself?
Yeah, he should do it by himself
Do it by yourself
Okay, well
I think I'll try it in a different key, I'll try it in a normal key
Yeah
If it sounds bad, these people are just gonna have to wait
Do you have a smoke?
Okay
lupet !

That was a David Bowie song
Yes but Nirvana covered it in the 90s
@@spooder4559 but that was a David Bowie song
@@jdubs2113 Yes, but again their using the MTV unplugged version of the song, that Nirvana covered
@@spooder4559 Lol we're just messing with you. At the end of the live cover after the audience applauds, Kurt goes "That was a David Bowie song." I don't know why but I like to say that phrase everytime the song is over
Yeah. We know.
That is kurt cubain song.
Its by david bowie not nirvana
There’s a difference to how each play the song. The sound to this version is different than David Bowie’s, with a different-ish solo I think?? This Karaoke rendition is Nirvana, not David Bowie
Same could be said for Nirvana covering And I Love Her by The Beatles. The Beatles and Nirvana both play the song differently, so it’s important whether someone refers to one band or the other
This was Nirvana's cover. Do you understand what a cover is?
It's a Bowie song. OK cover.. but original better
You're tripping dude, the cover is amazing.
@@mattahearn5117gotta agree with you bud
Get a life
Even Bowie would agree this version is better.
Nirvana better🤘
It's not a fucking Nirvana song but thanks
instrumental is
boi
@@myolssz nope, it's actually from David Bowie
@@gabrielac6512 not this instrumental, nirvana did this specific version of the man who sold the wolrd if you ever listen to the original one it is different
@@gabrielac6512 you're correct about the song being a Bowie original. This version is from Nirvana's MTV Unplugged live performance.
read the description. this version embraced a completely new version than what Bowie did, similar to Hurt (Johnny Cash vs. Nine Inch Nails)
How many pizzas would that be today, you know, with inflation and all.
Cool❤
