You sir are national treasure. I love the nostalgia mixed with the mid-atlantic voice. You are an anachronism to a difficult but fulfilling time. I wish my kids could understand the self reliance our generation was forced into. Looking back I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Our generation wanted recognition but never got it and we are better for not expecting anything else. It makes us appreciate whatever we get rather than expecting it.

When he'd get away with being a creep, I'd pour the whole box of Lucky Charms into a bowl, pick out all the marshmallows, and put back the oat pieces. I’m a boomer and I’d have to say they must have improved the Captain Crunch in your day for it to have been able to actually scratch the roof of your mouth. For us, it turned into a soggy, horrible mess about twelve seconds after the milk hit it. No need for a spoon; just drink the slush right out of the bowl or the use of a straw was optional! And Cheerios, trying to actually capture those rascals on your spoon was more challenging than playing Operation!

Special K or General Mills Corn Flakes. Some times Wheaties and one did not DARE to attempt to sneak a box of the forbidden sugary goodness into mothers shopping cart for it would be immediately returned to the shelf and if you even thought about throwing a tantrum, you would find yourself on the receiving end of a backhand that would have done Billie Jean King proud.

Corn Flakes were decent with some sugar. 😊

Speaking of mouth injuries GenX endured. Anyone remember the razor sharp edges on the freezees? Those frozen tubes of sweet refreshing treats that would leave the corners of our mouths sliced open while the blood would dribble down to our chins. Yes GenX had it best no doubt.

Don't forget all the artificial colourings, sweeteners and preservatives they were loaded with, that are all banned now. I saw a study that said we may age a little slower due to the amount of preservatives we all unwittingly consumed

As the middle of 9 children, a boomer, we had cornflakes, or puffed wheat/rice. The store brands. Allowed one tablespoon of sugar, less if we got caught cheating and ice cold powdered milk. 🤨

My mom, being a Christian, wouldn't allow us to have Lucky Charms, Count Chocula, Boo Berry or Frankenberry.
    Capt'n Crunch, yes.

My mom used to make us those mini wheats for breakfast every other day in the winter.
She would pour boiling water on them to soften the bricks. So even if you added milk and a bit of brown sugar, they were diluted by that terrible, flat taste of that boiling water from the kettle that had so much scale on the inside that it doubled its weight.
    Bleah…

The kids will never know the joy of typing in a basic computer program for 2 hours on a Sunday morning from the back of a cereal box in order to see a dot go across the screen

I was born late in 59. so technically I'm a boomer or maybe I'm one of those hybrids you spoke about in a previous video. But man you are so spot on. You could not have described those cereals better. I have been able to relate to every single one of your videos. This is funny stuff here and every bit is true. Here is one for you, Hamburger Helper.

Ah yes! And don't forget Tuna Helper - without that and Cup o' Noodles I wouldn't have survived the poor salad days of my youth!
