This is the perfect project to use what I have. So many great and inspiring ideas. I love the longer videos to start my mornings. Now it’s time to get my hands dirty. ❤❤❤
How AWESOME Robyn!! Love this little book packed with so much goodness!! You can also get those folders at the Dollar store!!👏 Thank you SO much at how thoroughly you explain everything & where to get it!! GRATEFUL!!
Not fair you can write so fluently and gracefully, I'm in awe of your talent. You are my new hero I hope you don't mind. What you doing and the feelings I get looking at your work, especially with the Japanese writing, I just have to somehow learn how to write these letters and symbols like I see you doing with such ease, you're an inspiration and I need all the inspiration I can grab! Thank you!
Anther awesome Saturday with you , this is a great project and I love your printables you’re using that you made cause it all just works so beautifully 🌷. Thank you Robyn …
Robyn, thanks so much for your videos, I’m really getting a lot out of them. Being much bolder in my use of paints etc on the plates. I value your approach to art making.
Thank you for always generously explaining how, what, and why you do what you do. It's so enjoyable to listen to you as you think your way thru decisions. You are always inspiring. With this project, you really exemplify the Japanese concept of Wabi Sabi to "Enoble the ignoble."
The colors, ohhhh, the colors-they are lovely, especially with your choice of patterns. Your file folder book is very clever; the proportions you used were perfect. Such an artistic book, to be sure. It is always inspiring to see you work.
so awesome! I love this size..I made some Christmas journals out of file folders this size and they came out so cool! I love odd shaped books..so fun!! TFS..so much inspiration as always!!
Robyn, the mark-making pieces are lovely, and remind me of abstracted Tibetan tiger rugs: just the merest gestures of them. You know, when you only see something up close and don’t see the entire context? We humans are so fascinated by such things, it”$ like the story of the blind men describing an elephant. . . . there are so many kinds of tiger rugs. You might find some images of them inspiring.
I love mark making- it is one of my favorite things to do! Like you, I love to use sumi ink a lot of the time. I love the intensity of the black and the way it looks after it dries. It is not the same as India ink or other water based inks! I also like using different kinds of brushes, sticks, feathers, and other things to make my marks. I bought a little bundle of old manila file folders the other week at a thrift store, so I’m looking forward to using some of them to try out a book for myself. Thanks for all the great ideas!
I just found your channel. I love that your so detailed with everything!! And I love the long videos!! Most do only 12-20 minutes and I like longer videos to play while I’m working on a piece!!
So happy I found you. I love your style. So different from the others I have seen. I have a crap ton of file folders. I’m definitely trying this journal. Hope you get to Europe.
I loved your marks and colour scheme on the file folder a lot! I use advertisement pages and catalogues to glue on. That way I can just turn the pages and throw the whole thing out in the end. I had bad luck with a giotto glue stick I ordered online from amazon. It is the worst stick I have ever had. It kind of dissolves on the paper immediately, not like yours, gluing so nicely. Perhaps mine is not an original Italien one, no idea.
Hhhhhmmmmmmm Maybe it is one of the Aliexpress knock offs because I have used at least 14+ glue sticks and never once a problem. Try it again when you can get you hands on an authentic one! Thx for hanging out with me :)
Robin, I love you work , your imagination , your art. Always enjoyed and learned from your videos. I have a question, what exactly is forbidden color and forbidden shape? I was taught that artist license pretty much covered all, that nothing is truly forbidden. Thank you so much for sharing.
You're so talented! Love the file folder and your March printables. Curious to know how you would attach a tab portion in the middle of one of the folder pages.
I found your channel a couple of months ago and am having a blast playing with a gelli plate. I finally purchased some of your printables yesterday and can't wait to pick up the prints today ftom an office supply store. Love your videos and lessons. You're keeping me sane thru all this!! 🙂
I have just started watching this series. Very inspiring. When you add the offcuts of the file folders into this mini journal, what would be your preferred choice to stick them in with?
Loved this video! I have to practice i k mark making. That isn't anything that I have done before and I think it will be a good way to get out of my head. I tend to over think things. Especially love the envelope and youur use of the remainder to make the pull out that created the tab. Great use of materials and addded wonderful interaction and interest to the page and the book as a whole. Got your reply about the dog story as I was watching. Glad it gave you a laugh. Our fur babies can break the bank. What do you do with your little one when you travel. I had to put my little one down in March and am missing her soooo much but I love to travel and just don't know if I could get that attached and leave her hor weeks at the time.
So glad you live the Mark making it is a wonderful way to free ourselves from the inner critic and also produce fun and surprising art! Yes I love to travel also fortunately I’ve always been able to leave him with family when I go on trips Take care! xo
Robyn, I use old telephone books for when I glue paper for my collages, and then just tear out the sheets and recycle them when they get messy. When I run out of those, I've also saved the useless Uline catalogs that I get sent every year and am planning to use those. These papers are much thinner than book paper but they work well. Also, what are the dimensions of your file folder pages? The proportions look pleasing.
Three months after having Covid 19 and I still have no energy. Almost all my hair has fallen out. I can’t work out any more. And I don’t have the energy to create art. I come home after work and go right to bed. But I’m really enjoying watching your videos while I heal and relax.
Robyn I had a question, it may be stupid, but for the printables they can only be downloaded and printed out from home. You don't have a pre printed package ( of your papers) that a person can just buy and you send out to them. For a more expensive price of course because of shipping. Thank you for your time. And thank you for sharing your creativity with us.
Thanks for another weekly inspirational video. Just a side note -- as I've been learning each week, I was disappointed that this week's prompt is Mark Making and yet you didn't do any mark-making in your video. A short demonstration on how to do it would have been a very nice addition - like you've been doing every week so far.
Yes, I do understand but I actually did that on purpose because I didn't want to influence how you all approached it, I will show mark making when we get to future prompts, so no worries I'll show a few techniques :), what's important is for you to go inside and allow your own native response to the prompts to come forward. Thank You so much for being on this journey as we continue to have a lot of fun! xo
Hi Robyn, Love your weekly videos. So inspiring! You said that beautiful blue you use is from Terre de Pastel- I cannot find a source for it. Would you mind putting a link to the source where you buy it from? Thank you.
I'm really excited to try this... question if you don't mind... do you recommend spraying the pearl and gathered twigs on the folders while still wet, or is it best to wait and spray after the coffee stain has dried? Thank you!!
Thx! Yes send the images to FedEx/Kinkos or Office Max, etc and they'll print them out for you 10 cents or so a sheet also your local library is great for taking your images and printing out! :)
@@RobynMcClendon oh wow I never knew there was a woad museum! I live in the UK and my sister grows it for natural dyeing. Here we pronounce it like "load", I've never heard how the French pronounce it though. Anyway, it's lovely stuff.

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
What kind of paper do you use to print on ……thanks
Could you please share the brand of your scissors? The length of the edges looks nice.
They are an American Crafts product!
Did you use Legal sized file folders or did you use Letter size?
What kind of glue stick?
Robyn do you mean Woad? The plant that makes a blue dye?
Yes Abigail, the one I got was by Terre de Pastel :)

Obviously with a W instead of an L! 😊
Woad is said like ‘goad ‘or ‘toad’. !!
