It is really amazing that a simpleton like Tokichiro rose to become the most powerful ruler Japan has seen . He became the Regent.He invaded and conquered Korea later in his life.
The real Hideyoshi was a lot different to this fictional portrayal - tactically brilliant, ambitious, a true visionary who changed Japan forever. He was also something of a tyrant who tried to pull the ladder up after himself and prevent others from rising as he had, and he bit off far more than he could chew with the Korea campaigns, but overall he was one of the true greats of Japanese history. To rise from peasant to undisputed ruler of the country in such a class conscious society was an incredible achievement that was very much symptomatic of the era in which he lived. The Japanese have a word for this kind of social mobility - Gekokujo, meaning “the lower rules the higher”. There were many examples of gekokujo throughout the sengoku jidai, but Hideyoshi exemplifies this.
What an awesome feel good film! After a challenging work week and physically aching everywhere... watching this film uplifted my spirits and reminding me that, all my sacrifices are so worth it!💪💪😎 Bwaahahahahaaa!!🌞💗YEAH!🤘🤘
I really enjoyed this first Chronicle! I think of the three unifiers Hideyoshi is the most interesting. We all face different challenges in each stage of life. This movie chronicles the literal rise from poverty to the beginnings of a favored vassal to Oda Nobunaga. While he is portrayed to have ambition, I like how the movie showed how he builds his confidence slowly. Hideyoshi's early gifts were his active inquisitive mind and his ability to develop strong loyalties with his personality. Early in life, he learns how to lead and use others to help him accomplish his ambitions. One of the fascinating developments is how intelligent Nene is. In another series, close to 50 years later, as she retires to become a nun, she says she and the Taiko (Hideyooshi) built the Toyotomi together. With him gone, she lost her attachment to the clan. This is a great beginning to a remarkable story made better because even though we know the historical story, the emotions, and feelings of Hideyoshi and Nene as they begin their ascent in the Oda clan are just so fascinating.🥰

You don't know anything about Japan. And you don't know anything about your own society. Or you would recognise the parallels. The poverty, the violence, and the economic and political apartheid. And it's hilarious that you, who would mind his p's and q's if bought before a judge, judge someone's deference. Lol. Log, eye, splinter.

His life story in sengoku era very similar to chinese counter part in china named Liu Bang during warring states era. Which from commoner rose to become emperor that founded Han Dynasty. But for hideyoshi his terms ended very shortly.
This six-episodes brief program which begins with first and the last episode at one and an half hour long but the four eps ( 2 - 5 ) is only about 45 mins long, aired by TV Asahi 10 Channel in Tokyo from 31st October to 12th December, 2006. Because of the Japanese TV title called " 太閤記〜天下を獲った男・秀吉 ", as I've thought it looks like that it has belonged to NHK-G ( Channel 1 ) which that network usually aired many late night pure Jidaigeki TV Drama programs in the past.
