I quit teaching 4 years ago and haven’t looked back. It’s really scary to change careers but don’t give up and you’ll get there.
Your description about teachers leaving in droves is so accurate of teaching here too! It's becoming almost untenable, the hours, the extra demands, I have almost no work-life balance, hence my UA-cam hobby has fallen by the wayside. It's a sometimes thankless job, and whilst I don't do it for the praise, I find it sad that some parents are blaming teachers more and more for a lack of learning in their children. Meanwhile we have to deal with so many layers now: Physical safety, mental health, familial issues, accountability, self-protection from allegations... Parents almost want us to surrogate parent their children, and we're not qualified to do that.
I'm reaching the point where I'm considering a change in my career. Truly, I feel like the struggle is increasing each new school year!
Congratulations on your new venture!!! 🥰
I left teaching after 13 years and would never want my children to consider this profession now. So sad, but with students, administrators, and PARENTS it is just too stressful.
Congratulations !! I'm so excited to see what the future holds for you. My cousin is also a teacher. She has 30 years experience teaching high school Econ and AP Econ. Every year gets worse, so much so that she has contemplated retiring early. She loves the students, but it's the Administration that is a nightmare.
I was a high school special ed teacher for 28 years, and I completely understand your decision to leave teaching. When the things that vex you outnumber the things that delight you, it’s time to move on. If you choose to begin another channel, I would certainly subscribe.
Year 21 special Ed and this is truly my last
This makes me so happy, such a courageous, fabulous heartwarming and inspiring woman Autumn!
My mother is a retired first grade teacher. I remember going to her classroom at the end of every summer, prior to the new year beginning, and helping her set up her classroom for the incoming students. She loved teaching, but it definitely wasn’t easy. An underpaid and often thankless, difficult job, yet her last day was bittersweet. I have come across her former students from time to time, and it fills me with pride to hear them speak of her fondly.
Change can be both terrifying and exciting, the unknown, what adventures lie ahead. May you and Paul find great success in your next chapter.
Whether you start a new channel or keep your Oregon vlogs here, I’ll be tuning in. Congratulations Autumn! Cheers 🥂
I just finished my 23rd year of teaching. I totally understand! It's exhausting work that seems to take over your life. Congratulations on starting your next chapter. I love watching your videos on luxury items because you are so honest and real and share great information. Keep up the great work!
Best of luck on your new journey. I am a retired ICU nurse and if they treat teachers like nurses, I get it. I never walked so fast getting to my car that last day of nursing career. Your feelings of sadness and being uncertain is normal. I am sure that you will find something that you love and will enjoy. You did what you felt was best for you and stress puts a lot on you physically and mentally. All I can say is enjoy your new found freedom. Been watching you for years and with the personality you reflect, I am sure you will find a position that is enjoyable for you.
I am a retired nurse also after 43 years; I agree with this poster that if teaching is like nursing I can totally understand why you are stepping away. For me the rewards of feeling appreciated & like I did a job well done just were no longer there. COVID also played a big part in my decision too!! So Autumn 🎉 Congratulations, on to bigger & better things plus an exciting move to Oregon.
I had my last, last day of brick and mortar school after 10 years of teaching, and I remember the feeling. So strange...like my entire identity was wrapped up in my profession. You'll go through some waves, but give it some time, life on the other side is way better. You'll look back and wonder how you did it all, lol. Congratulations.
You did good for yourself, you got the experience and a partner now you on to the next new thing. Your still young so this is a exciting time.
Now finishing my 7th year of teaching. Don’t blame you at all for leaving. I’m not sure how much longer I will stick around. It’s a mess here in the US. And I’m in the Northeast… I feel like it’s worse in southern states like Florida and Texas. Congratulations on leaving and you have plenty of talents to use in other jobs. Also, you aren’t completely unemployed - your UA-cam job still counts!
It’s awful in Arkansas. 😢
Sorry to hear you're struggling! Teachers are underrated 😢 I'm 50 and still every so often smile from memories of some really great teachers I had growing up❤
It's a mess in Europe too.
Congratulations on having the courage to recognize a change is needed and to pursue it. I would love to watch your vlogs, wherever you post them!
I get it. I quit my job as an RN after almost 19 years. Toxicity is real. I couldn’t sleep the night before my shifts anymore and my anxiety was out of control. I miss the way it was in the past but I had to leave.
Wow! It definitely feels like the end of an era. Congratulations! I know it's scary, but growth often is. I'll watch you wherever you are. Looking forward to continuing your journey! xoxo
Totally get the move to Oregon. I had the same experience. First came here in November, our rainiest month. I fell in love immediately.
I hate to lose another teacher. I wish you for the best in your future ❤
I'm going through the same thing. I own my own business but wanted to go back to work for a few reasons but every job has hundreds of Applicants and so I'm getting nervous. I've been on my own full time for seven years and think I'm too stale now. It's depressing. Not sure what to do. I'm sure you will be fine but I understand. Teaching is rewarding but comes with too many problems now especially in Florida where I am. Keep your chin up ❤ Hugs. Oh, and I think this one channel is enough but I will subscribe to another one also if that's what you want to do ❤
Leaving teaching is bitter sweet. I loved teaching but it wasn’t easy. Taught for 30+ years in both UK and USA. I was ready to go but it was so much a part of my identity retiring was a really difficult decision to make. Now I can’t imagine ever wanting to go back into education. You have to reinvent yourself and build a whole new normal. I know with your brains and work ethic you will succeed in any profession. Wishing you only joy as you set out on your new adventure. 🎉
Autumn you've got this girl!!!! Moving on to bigger and better for sure ❤
Keep the content here. Your thumbnails and titles etc. are always clear, so if I want to watch I will 😊 Good luck on this next chapter 💫
Congratulations. I just started a new chapter in my life and it’s so exciting. I love the Oregon coast. You’re going to have a beautiful life up there.
Stay with one channel Autumn . You don’t need the additional stress. Congratulations on your decision to change your job I have done this 4 times . You will be fine
I am a nurse and am feeling the same way lately. Good for you for taking that leap, best wishes ❤
I’d keep the Oregon vlogs on this channel, you’ve worked so hard on this channel and we can continue to support your OG channel here. Just make a separate playlist. ❤
"Good Lord"💕 Don't worry, you'll be alright. You have the courage to leave and find something better!
I'm right behind you. I'm looking to make a work transition also. I get the heebie-geebies at times😉But I must go through with it. Keep us posted. I will follow on this channel or another channel, just let me know! Best wishes in this bittersweet moment. Better things are ahead🌸💕🌺
❤you will do well at whatever you decide to do.
I wish you snd Hubby the best!
Good luck Autumn, can’t wait to see your new adventures
Keep it here. I’m used to this space. Good luck with your job hunting. Wishing you the best.
Do what is best for you! I’ll follow your channel wherever you go:)
You are beginning the next new chapter of your life and it will be amazing. I would post the new content on this channel. This is your channel in your name, I would simply allow your channel to evolve and be about all the things you are doing and enjoying. Wishing you and Paul much success.
Best wishes!! Hope all goes well in your future adventures!!💕💕💕
BIG congratulations Autumn! I'm looking forward to seeing your next chapter and this new journey for you and your husband.
Good for you! Now you can find something else that you will love. Yes, would like to hear about Oregon. Keep it on the same channel, please.
I like the mixed videos of purses and the vlogs but I'll watch both channels if that's what works best for you. I enjoy the vids either way. Congratulations and best of luck with your new adventure! I look forward to hearing about all of the fun stuff and new places.
I think you should keep everything on this channel. Best wishes on your upcoming move and new adventures.
Love the authenticity of this!
I hate being between jobs but you will be snapped up in no time. I have Every confidence in that. Don't be too rushed to secure a position; that you don't enjoy the excitement of the move. Do work on your linked in profile. Everyone looks at that prior to interviewing. What a fabulous life of adventure coming your way!!!!🎉
All the best in your new adventure! 😊🎉
Best of luck in the next chapter. Keep keeping on…it will be worth the change to grow in different roles in your life. I vote keep content here, that way I have one place to go. Cheers 🍸
Love your channel. This channel is fine. Can look back for a certain bag. This is enough . I want to say Congrats but hard to say. I retired 3 1/2 years ago after working 50 years. Yes very hard. Took me 3 years to finally adjust to this new life and new chapter. Heres wishing you all tje best in your job search. Good luck.
I am so praying for you on your new journey had an uncle & aunt whom lived in Oregon together a very happy life just a beautiful place. I've 3 full years of college to gain a BS K-12 Phys. Ed. that I chose not to complete for the issues with the profession looming. I respect the work you've done & continue to choose to do despite the downfall's it inevitably brings. You are a true hero in bringing your fun loving & caring aspect to the profession & to our children. I've an older mate & I can relate to you. You've my continued prayers & support.
Congratulations!! Wishing you & Paul the very best with your next venture.
good luck on your journey. i would like to hear more on this channel please. p.s. i 'm sure you'll do great no matter what. it's always interesting to hear your perspective on things.
Wishing you all the best my friend.😊
Wow. Our schools go into mid June here.
Good luck!
I loved my 30+ years as an educator. If you didn’t love it, you’re doing the right thing. Do what makes you happy; you deserve that. Best of luck in your job search. Please keep us updated.
This is such a shame. We lose so many good teachers. So sorry to here. When i was growing uo, we had the utmost respect for them.
Congrats on your new chapter. It’s both exciting and scary. I am sure whatever you are supposed to do next will be available. Much happiness to you both on your move as well.
Thank you for addressing these mistakes head-on. It's refreshing to see someone discussing the challenges teachers face when transitioning careers. Your video provides valuable guidance and encouragement. Keep up the excellent work!
One channel is good for me. Wishing you all the best!🎉
I would definitely watch and subscribe to a second channel. Best wishes with your new journal and job search.
You will find your way! I have no doubt. And I would just keep all of your content on this channel.
I'm a teacher in Canada and the career here seems much more respected. It's a shame the US has so many issues in the education system. I would love to hear more details about why you quit. Good luck and enjoy the journey because it will all work out beautifully.
It's all for the good Autumn. Yes you must have many different feelings right now but when you look back, this may be the best day of your life! Enjoy, don't stress and take it one day at a time! Baby steps!! God bless!!
There are a ton of these Teachers quitting videos and a huge list of comments below each one of Teachers telling of the nightmare teaching has become and saying Adios to teaching in public schools. I remember when my sister was so proud of getting her teaching credentials and embarking on her new career as an educator. Today she is no longer a teacher for all the same reasons the rest of the teachers are jumping ship.
There were things I loved about the job but it got worse and worse every year. We were expected to do more and more things but provided with less time to do them all. I'm looking forward to new things.
Clicked so fast! Thank you for keeping us in the loop of the journey. The second channel would be great, however you are the one that knows best for you. Looking forward to following you and Paul in this next chapter. Big hugs from Salem Oregon!
I have had the same experience getting back into the job market. The no face to face application process is not the best in my circumstance. 38 years of experience doesn't matter much these days it seems.
I hear the bittersweetness of it. I would keep your new chapter on this channel. Take us with you. You need a soundboard.
I used to work in early education and then hopped over to the compliance enforcement side of things. It was a natural transition since I knew the regulations. I believe you asked about ADA work before. My MIL is a wellness coordinator at a school district and she oversees the ADA compliance under her umbrella of duties. She is an LCSW and also has an masters in educational leadership. They tend to work closely with attorneys as well and handle parent complaints. Good luck on your journey! Here’s to more bag videos in the meantime. 😊
Congrats Autumn! Leaving is hard, but I'm happy for your next adventure. I say keep the Oregon stuff here, but if you do decide to start a new channel I would subscribe as well. Take care!
I retired from teaching this year after 25 years. It became very stressful. I looked into other jobs and I could t find something I wanted. For now, I’m tutoring online part time.
I was able to stay the course and retire. I understand what you’re saying. It’s a tough world. Keep one channel is my opinion. Good luck on your move.
🎉Blessings to you both on your new adventures in Oregon 🎉
You can keep this channel for all your topics, I this it’s easier to be in one place.
So happy you have the courage to switch jobs/professions. Not everyone is comfortable with the change. My vote is to keep one channel but if you start a second one I will certainly follow both. Love your content! Best of luck with the move. We moved to Idaho last year and it’s been fantastic. We are loving the seasons and open space.
💜Good for you Autumn!!! :) 💜The best is yet to come.
Please share all your adventures with us on this same channel. We support you and want to see your next stage. Congratulations 🎉
Although it was a sad day, I want to congratulate you for having the courage to take that leap. I bet there are great things in your future. It doesn’t matter to me if you start another channel or keep everything here, but I get the sense that you would like to start another channel, so I would definitely subscribe. Getting monetized is important!! All the very very best Autumn.
Congratulations Autumn!
Omg my friend Carol and I always went for margaritas after our last day of teaching!!!!
It was the best part of teaching. ;D
Best wishes for the next stage of your life's journey, Autumn.
I’m gonna click on your videos anyway.. so here is cool. I left a job after 15 years and took six months off before changing my path and working in a completely new industry. You have a huge network here.. perhaps do a video on what types of roles you are looking for and then ask if anyone has any connections to recommend you. Network is key to getting your resume in front of the right people. Take a couple days and acclimate, then best wishes on your journey, I can’t wait to hear all about it.
I live in Bend, the sunny side of Oregon. Enjoy the no sales tax , can’t pump your own gas and four seasons state!
Congratulations Autumn. I wish you the best in your search for new career/job. If anyone can make the career move and the physical move work, it’s you. 😉🙂👍🏻
I think staying in the same channel sounds more reasonable but have a set schedule up for Vlog type videos and purse/luxury videos?
Congratulations 🎊🎈🍾
Congrats! Enjoy your "in-between time" :)
It may be shorter than you think, and you should savor the chance to relax, have fun and drink more margaritas!
When I was applying to jobs about a year and a half ago, it was taking months after submitting applications to even be contacted for an interview. One of the jobs contacted me almost a year after I applied. It’s absolutely insane to find a job right now.
Congratulations and good luck on your new journey. I can definitely see this is a bittersweet day for you. I will subscribe and watch whatever you decide. The best to you and Paul.
Congratulations! I wish you the best in the next chapter of your life. I was happy to see Paul and Baron again. Of course, I would subscribe to another channel of yours, but I prefer that you keep it all in one. It's just easier for me.
I vote for the same channel as well. I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to follow two channels as easily. Some of the other creators I follow have multiple channels, and invariably one ends up by the wayside.
Oregon is one of those places I’ve seriously considered moving to, I’m pretty envious right now.
If you taught for 12 years you can do just about anything! Best of luck in the new chapter!
Just found your channel ...just wanted to say you and your husband are so adorable 🥰
Keep your channel. We will follow.
I retired from the financial industry and subbed as a retiree. The elementary schools loved me and I loved working with them. I got in trouble at a high school for reprimanding a black student who was mocking an Asian student. I got fired after a junior high student punched me. Admin told me it was my fault for standing in front of him and telling him to return to his seat. Bear in mind, I had an Admin tell me she sends subs home if they don't maintain classroom discipline. Takeaway--- the work environment of public schools is dysfunctional. Describing it as an abusive relationship fits. Can't win for losing.
Wow last day of school for good!! How exciting and also a bit scary for you. I too am looking into a whole new career path from health care. Between working at a laboratory and then radiology I've been in health care for 20 years this Aug. Ready for a change but I don't know what that will be yet and it's scary but also exciting. I'll be working on a resume for the 1st time in 11 years!
I think you should continue the Oregon vlogs on your channel but it you were to start a 2nd one I would most definitely subscribe. Looking forward to all you future endeavors!! Any company or future employment would be lucky to have you 😉
hey congrats I think it would be great if you did a chanel with where you are going and how you get there xx❤❤❤
I'm surprised I lasted 25 years in SoCal. It was fun and rewarding when I started in the late 90s. As the years progressed, it became intolerable between kids' behaviors and unrealistic expectations where we teachers were to blame for pretty much everything.
Took an early retirement and pension and work a normal 9 to 5er.
When I meet college students considering teaching, I encourage them to look elsewhere.
I quit in April, after 7 years I couldn’t anymore.
I love watching your videos, and I would watch you if you stayed on this channel or even if you made another channel. Good Luck going forward.
One everything on this channel please! Good luck on your in venture
Wow, a lot going on with you! Huge congratulations but bittersweet, understandable. I'm in a similar situation - moving away (also to the beach!), new job, new everything. I'm not expecting to find my perfect job right out of the gate and it's taken the pressure off. Will be very interested to follow you both with so much ahead (maybe easier on the same channel?).
Oh Autumn! You are a Boss! You and Paul will begin your OR adventure and you will find a job! It may take time but you will find just the right job for you! I’m thinking PLG Social Media ….😊
I am proud of you for leaving an abusive relationship! I can’t even imagine to teach in USA. I am in Canada and we don’t have so much gun violence in the schools here. There is so many new opportunities for you. You can give private lessons if you feel like it for example. I have enjoyed your UA-cam channel because you are transparent, informative and down to earth. You are a survivor, you are brave and brilliant so there is no question in my mind you will do well. One door closes and another door opens. Change is always good 😊
So excited for you! You got this don’t stress!! ❤
Those are the perfect earrings for such an occasion 😅❤❤
Hi Autumn, I would prefer a separate UA-cam chanel for your move and adventure to Oregon. It is life changing and I admire your boldness to make such a bold change. It think enough of us would hop on over to enjoy the content you will share. And I am thinking you will capture a new audience that possibly isn’t into luxury in a budget. Trying to help think of a catchy title… l
Yes, I would subscribe to another channel for your Oregon move. Change is hard.
Teaching is a thankless job! I subbed for 2 years and that was enough to convince me not to teach full time! Congratulations on you new adventures. I’d like to hear it all on this channel, you can make a day where you post videos about your new life/moving and other days about bags! Just an idea!
I do not want a second chanel, only my opinion. I do like your channel the way that it is.
