I ride these byways fairly regularly, they definitely can be challenging when they are wet.. Momentum is you friend.. and learn to stand up, but most of all enjoy.

Good to see your still smiling Lavi as you endure your new world of off road and the mud. Those little Van Van's seem to be ideal for your new adventure and packed well, don't hit the ground too hard. It's good to have a B&B to break up living in a tent, you can have proper toilet and shower facilities and have a good nights sleep. I enjoyed the live stream last night ( Sunday ). I do wonder what you two do to wind down, Lavi is always bubbling with excitement and energy what is she on , I need some whatever it is. 🤣All the best both. John & Penny 'Old and Alive ' people. 😊✌✌🏍

    Hola L&O,
    This was another fun episode.
Lavi, you rock! Not only did you handle all of that mud, but some of those puddles could be classified as a water crossing! Way to go!
Ollie, I love how encouraging you are as she continues to learn.
    You make a great team.
Safe and happy travels, see you in the next one.

Please if you have the means try the TAE (triumph adventure experience) when you get a full license. Its so worth the money and great value! I’ve only done the level 1 and it has given me such confidence in knowing how to approach certain situations and how to position myself and handle the bike that will make these journeys so much more enjoyable and safer.

better filmed? maybe, yes. a better adventure? most definitely not.
my around the world trip that i did 11-8 years ago, consisted of 166,000 kilometers and nearly 3 years of riding. it was proper, actual around the world trip and i was lucky to be able to do it because at the time i had just enough money (36,000 EUR) saved to do it and to quit my job for the time being. it was such a unique, adventure filled journey that nothing did and nothing ever will top all the things i've seen, all the things ive felt, all the adventures ive been through, all the experiences, all the people i've met... not to mention that it is the most mentally and physically freeing experience and really opens your eyes about the world you're living in, especially after seeing and living through so many different civilizations, cultures and seeing many different worldviews that people in different countries have.

That cheeky little laugh after Ollie dropped his bike... 'at least it's not just me!!' that was so funny, but only after it was clear the car hadn't been hit. Maaan it's so easy to do though. Only last last year I parked my bike on a slight slope, didn't leave it in gear and it just slowly rolled forward off it's side stand....I saw it happen in slow-mo and luckily I was quick enough to run and catch it!! Lavi, you're improving already... fantastic!! Hopefully it dries up a bit as your journey continues!!

Doing well guys. It's not easy and especially in the early days of learning to ride a bike. I love your determination and despite some really difficult sections you both seem to be really enjoying it. The reward for the struggles is that you are riding tracks that you would never otherwise go down and I think it is a great feeling, away from the roads and on your own in the middle of the countryside. Will be following your progress with interest as I am also learning to ride trails. Well done Lavi - you are doing soooooo well.

  • @ed.barker7069
    @ed.barker7069 5 місяців тому +2

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news Lavi but these lanes are not difficult. They are the gentle warm up lanes. As you go further West and then North you will find proper challenging lanes.😂
As others have said, get yourself a folding saw. A gardening saw will be better than a Swiss Army Knife one. I carry one all the time whilst out trail riding and have needed it often.
    Loving this series. 😊

The best sleeping bags are ones that open right up & you can join them together to make a "double" sleeping bag and steal heat from ech other.
Try to keep those feet on the pegs and keep moving, don't stop and assess the mud, just keep rolling through it with a constant throttle... The bike really wants to stay upright and straight when it is moving faster than a walking pace, it will help you, trust it!
And Steering... If you have spent much time behind the wheel of a car, you instinct is to try to turn the wheel (or in this case bars) away from what you want to avoid, It takes away the ability to countersteer. so try to get into the habit of keeping the knees tight against the tank, the feet tucked in to the side of the bike nice and tight. and use your hips to lean the bike into turns rather than relying on the arms... the arms will lead you astray, Literally!
I personally lost 10kg around my waste from riding, and my abs have come back. this is because I do all of the lean control with my hips & lower core muscles, It makes steering so much easier, as I'm not relying on my arms to do anything other than work the controls. the steering comes from the hips tilting the bike in the direction I want it to go, but pushing "DOWN" on the bar in the direction you want to go will help. And this is what will stop the supposed "target fixation" that is caused by trying to turn the bars away like a steering wheel and inadvertently leaning the bike in the wrong direction! relax the arms and let the front wheel steer itself though the terrain. It is designed to do that, and it wants to do that!
Yes I did comment that didn't I... but can I add that keeping the feet up lets you use the rear brake gently to help balance the power going to the back wheel when slipping the clutch... I found it a needed skill in peak traffic where the cars are crawling at below the minimum speed of the bike, so the playing with the clutch and rear brake is a good thing to practice, "Slow races" are a good way to learn this, and it will help massively with low speed balance!

You guys are doing great! Use the help of Mom & Tom (momentum) counterintuitive, but a beginner mistake is to ride too slow in obstacles. Just a tiny bit of speed goes a long way, gyroscopic effect of the wheels will help keep you upright and stabilize the bike. And then learning to ride standing on pegs. You've got this, it's going to be a great time!

Y’all are doing great! Not that they are needed. But, here are my suggestions. Be careful in the big mud holes where you can’t see what’s underneath. There could be giant ruts. Also, trying to ride the center could cause you to slip off into the rut and drop your bike. And, bring a little folding saw for cutting away obstacles. …………You guys are great! I like your pace. It lets viewers see the countryside instead of a blur. Looking forward to your next video.

  • @yveslaurier950
    @yveslaurier950 5 місяців тому

Going too slow is not always the way to go. Having more momentum often helps the bike to stay upright, even in mud. However, being "too rigid" on the handlebar will not help you. The front wheel is always "seeking" the path of least resistance, so you just use the handlebar to nudge the bike in the direction you want to go. Also, shifting your weight toward the back of the seat will give you more traction and help the front wheel to "float" in the soft ground. That said, good luck in your adventure.

Ah, Bodiam Castle. Reminds me of a camping holiday my brother and I had in the Eastbourne area many years ago. We visited Bodiam Castle, and went across the road to the pub for a meal. Fish and chips cost me seventeen pounds! Mind you, it was sea bass, very well cooked... the best fish and chips I've ever tasted. And the day before we had managed to get full carvery roast dinners in another pub for two pounds each, so can't complain really!

Ah, technology issues. Gotta love em!
That mud in the beginning looked horrible! That's the way though, just paddle your way through with your feet when you're learning. Even experienced offroad riders will do that. There's nothing wrong with that in extreme sections. Eventually the confidence will come. Well done Lavi!
Looks like you need to carry a little folding saw with you! That tree was easier than when I had to drag my loaded V-Strom over a thick fallen tree. 🤣
I can imagine Vikings traversing those lanes over 1000 years ago. Ewan and Charley! HaHa!
I love the English history, castles and all that. I find it fascinating. I recognised the 1066 cafe. I knew of it from my mate @hippodrones videos when you stayed there the first time.
I've been to Battle! The field besides Battle Abbey is where it took place. That battle was basically a Viking civil war as the Vikings had settled in England and also in Normandy. (Norman = North Man, AKA Vikings).

Great stuff! Damm now I want to do the whole TET.
Big improvement Lavi..just a confidence thing and trusting in the bike a bit more i.e bit more speed. Naturally you tend to be tentative but sometimes the extra oomf will see you through. (Not sure I would have wanted to do the TET after just passing to be fair.)

Hello both of you. Hay Lavi. That first big puddle. It’s great to see you smile and happy from doing that one. You ability and confidence is building, great to see that for you. Mind you your cheeky little stunt of the by going over the bridge that is 100 out of 100. Great confidence builder for you as Ollie did not go that way. Only thing I would say is for bad terrain be confident in your balance of your body straight down through the bike to the engine, and don’t lean on the handle bars (. Yes I know one needs to steer , hold on to steer 😂😂 )
With in a very short time of getting your licence , there you are doing an off road tour of the uk. 100 out of 100
    Wish You Well.

So how are the bikes really going? They seem to be ok, but bit concerned re: the tyres in the mud, sand etc. Great stuff 🇦🇺👍 Lavi, look where u want to go and the bike will go, if u look all around the bike will wobble, just try it. Only look where u want to go!!!!

Super pleased you've found a theme to continue life on the road. I really hope you can make it work with your sub base. I'll be hooked.
Perhaps when the weather is miserable in the winter, you can keep going in Southern Europe.
I'm doing a couple of weeks in Spain, Morocco and Portugal in Feb 25. After last winter, I've got to escape this country for a while
    Safe travels.
