Hi, Emmet! Glad that your 'SECRETS TO COMIC SHOP' vids are doing great and inspiring folks. I have been reading most of the Marvel titles you mentioned, and I believe speculators are what's driving the success of a couple of them. Right now, the whole SPIDER-VERSE is hot with speculators and readers who don't want to miss out of any potential new Spider characters, so Ultimate Spidey is an easy success. Admittedly, it IS a better read than the regular ASM title these days, so I'm cool with that. Also, people have been speculating on Dr. Doom, especially since the cast of the next Fantastic Four movie has been revealed, so folks have been seeking out back issues featuring iconic DOOM cover appearances. Also, both these comics (USM and DOOM) were marketed very hard before they actually hit the shelves. I thought that DOOM was a very fun read, but it also felt to me like the last chapter of a short miniseries that we never got. I mistakenly believed it was going to be a miniseries when I first heard it was coming out, and I think others out here thought the same thing. I didn't know it was a 1-Shot until I read it. But in any case, yes, hopefully good writing will become more prominent in comics.

Turning 30 this year, and I’m new to the hobby. Picking up single issues weekly. As a kid I read Batman trades at the library. Really a fun hobby. Though I must say, it seems like the lions share of comic fans are pretty jaded and negative. So I mainly keep to myself with my new found hobby!
If you're going to your local comic shop, it shouldn't be that negative. Sadly negativity is the UA-cam algorithm there are a lot of great things in comics for me. Mostly an independents. But as this video shows, I think the industry is getting ready to turn around.
Thanks, chief! Good to hear some positive news. I still won't purchase marvel books because of their politics, but l am enjoying a real variety of titles from other publishers: Hellblazer, Usagi Yojimbo, Creature from The Black Lagoon Lives! And Conan! What more could anyone ask for?

I guess I'm more fortunate than I realize, living in a big city that has quite a number of good comic shops around. I can usually find anything new I want, even the ratio variants, though I rarely buy those due to price. But I'm glad to see that your shop is doing well even though it is a smaller store in a small market. If I'm ever in your area (I'm in Texas), I'll definitely make it a point to visit your shop.

@@HavenForHeroes as far as which book I will consider to be epic at the end of the day, that remains to be seen, but as of right now I look more forward to my UBP pull than USM. I get a lot of T’Challa in costume in each issue and at least 2 good good fight scenes and the story is constantly moving forward as opposed to being filled with flashbacks and exposition. I am really excited to see where USM ends up going tho. There is a lot I like about it and I look forward to rereading straight through 1-6 once the next issue drops.
I see that super Nintendo still hasn't found a good home. I guess I could make room to care for a gaming counsel in need. It will be a sacrifice especially with the time ill have to manage to give it enough attention to feel wanted. Send me over the adoption papers. Maybe my state will help me with the financial burden the care I provide it will cost. I'll do my best to keep it safe and happy. Its the least I could do. Of course the adoption fee will have to be waived since I'll be taking on the burden of feeding it games etc.
If your talking about the boxed one sadly it's only the box lol we only have one complete super Nintendo left. It's the hardest system for us to come by think it's around $100

I like Ultimate Black Panther more than USM so far. I just find that it’s paced a lot better for a monthly title.
