Heroescon in Charlotte NC. Like a scaled down version of Baltimore con but still a huge 3 day show. 80% comics with the rest being pop culture and cosplay.
Heroes and Baltimore are both great. We loved them both (and we'll be back at Heroes this June). But we have also experienced comics-heavy shows in many other places: Hershey, Akron, Cincinnati, Morristown NJ (Garden State) and Connecticut (Terrificon), among others, as well as both Three Rivers Comicon and Pittsburgh Comics Show, both in our hometown. Also the smaller Buckeye Cons that Jeff Harper does in Ohio (we were at the one in Columbus). So they're not that rare per se.

I remember when comic book conventions were about buying comic books ---- not about photo ops @ $100 with has been B-List actors or wrestlers that passed their prime about a decade ago and cosplay panel discussions.
I started attending cons in 1976, Creation Cons in Phila in the early 1980s, Valley Forge and Allentown in the later 1980s and began to sponsor local cons in the late 1980's through the mid 90's in Reading, Pottstown, Whitehall, etc. Had great guests: Steranko, Doug Moench, Mark Schultz, Al Williamson, Earl Norem, Frank Thorne, Tim Truman, Dan Adkins, Bob Smith and many others. Focus was always on comics. Made a lot of friendships with pros that still continue over thirty years later as well as repping creators..
Since you'll be attending comic cons, can you make videos from the cons too? Really enjoy the videos, i'm also a veteran and comic enthusiast so i relate real well to you. I'll be going to my first comic con "Planet Comicon" in in Kansas city in March, its in the middle of the country and looks legit, let you know how it goes. Thanks for the videos!
Thanks for the response, as soon as I get back I'll let you know. Kansas city looks like a cool place and apparently its the BBQ capitol of the world. Seems like a pretty good mix of things for now. I'm a huge Claremont fan and he'll be there along with some other big names. I'm not a huge celeb stalker, but they have a good mix of celebrities there also. Las Vegas has a good con. Lots of big names, artists, writers, and sellers. Not as packed as you would imagine, I believe it is because so many things are going on in Vegas, so it is a really good, laid back experience.

Heroes Con Emerald City Heroes already mentioned by others, is very much comic focused and has plenty of great dealers and artist alley. It is also probably the most bang for your buck con out there. Charlotte also has great food. 😀 Emerald City is a bit larger and does have more pop culture cross over with anime voice actors and movie and TV stars but still manages to be heavy comic focused. As you said about NY, I'd stay away from any ComicCon

For this, though, the ‘comics-pro’, behind the scenes machinations, I think the best they can do is get back to glossy covers, 256-color (4-color?) newsprint, and do away with the 48 cover variants, unless the mix them in, randomly, to ... ANY order! #CoverGlossyGutsNewsprint; Marvel sucked the air, that is ALL .. the paper, out of the room. C’mon, now!
Not sure how far west you are willing to go, but I went to OAFcon (Oklahoma Alliance of Fans) in Norman, OK last year and it was a great comic-only show. Not large, but it had quality dealers.
You gotta come up to the Old School Comic Show put on by Little Giant Comics in April. Best one day show on the east coast. All comics and artists ONLY. Decent names for a smaller show, Steranko, Milgrom, etc…. Concord, NH. I would love to meet you there!
I'm hearing a lot of great things about terrificon. Some people have mentioned KingCon. This is the first time like I got a solid go to. Thanks for helping out
Motor City Comic Con in Novi, MI getting way too expensive to attend. The Grand Rapids show is a nice sized show that is packed, but they don't have that many comic dealers. A good dealer could really clean up. There aren't too many celebrities, and it doesn't break the bank. They are presently doing the spring show in Kalamazoo, but the fall show is in downtown Grand Rapids, MI. I found some great silver age DC back issues at their last show, but only two decent comic dealers! Come and make it about comics again! Welcome to Michigan!
Going to Zolocon in Warminster PA for 1st time this weekend. Held at the Fuge. Going since Steranko will be there and i want spy man signed by him for my pc. Will let you know what its like
@HavenForHeroes got vip tickets for 2 days for 35 dollars. Goody bag, a steranko print and early entry both days. We don't live far from Baltimore either so usually go there as well. Staying overnight for this one since I'm old and need to rest some lol.
@@HavenForHeroes Cool. I'm a new subscriber from Ireland. I enjoy your videos and the "passionate" speaking you do. Unfortunately there's very few of the American style "comic shops" here, and even less than there were 10-20 years ago but it's easier than ever to talk, read and find out about the medium online. Also our national library system does a good job getting in collected editions if they are requested!
I am 45... so I am not young, not too old. Maybe it is because you are opinionated and have not so many subs? In our world, today, the more followers you have the better voice. I know, it was not like that in the 90s, heck not even in the 2000s! Was the Marvel and DC reps younger? If they weren't, I think they would like a broader audience? Don't know, just my $2!

Las Vegas has a good con. Lots of big names, artists, writers, and sellers. Not as packed as you would imagine, I believe it is because so many things are going on in Vegas, so it is a really good, laid back experience.

Baltimore ComicCon and HeroesCon are my favorite cons. Partly cause they are easily do-able from Richmond but they are both great cons.
