Magma blade is also a very cool weapon since it has a larger hitbox than the normal saber. Also it can be used for utility along with ground dash to reach the sub tank in commander yanmark's stage if you don't have hyperdash.(you need to use the ice weapon as a platform first)
Not sure why you think only playing as Zero is fun in this game, because it isn't any more fun than X. The game becomes easier the more parts you collect, the fun kind of starts when you have enough parts to make the game not frustrating.

Im glad they made X6, it may not be the best game but its still fun to play at times, also awesome soundtrack. But the number one thing to come out of this game is X not being the bad guy of the Zero series. That pretty good.
i agree with you to be honest i thought X4 was more depressing but i did like the anime scene & at least x5 thru x9 allowed all characters to be playable and had them working together in X4 the characters were separated .
To someone who complain this is sucks. The first step to be pro player is not to fight bosses with its weak point weapon. Fighting against Nightmare Zero, using damn Z-Saber will not make you become pro. Have you ever seen someone play non-armored X and beat every boss with only buster and no damage received???
Honestly, X5 is my favorite. It's the one I have had the most fun playing. And perhaps you don't feel like Mega Man in that game. Probably because the game is rather difficult playing as X, when Zero and his saber are overpowered. I guess it's the easiest of the games, though. Game overs start you at your checkpoint, so lives don't matter. defeats the purpose, but I like it like that. It's just that the game is easy, and the end has a considerable difficulty spike, that bothers me.
I dislike X5 and X6 in the franchise because it tries to be different from the standard Mega Man X gameplay that I liked from X4, I have to say that I DO like the parts system in X6 though since it is much more polished.

Why didn't you spam the hell out of the Z-Saber when fighting Nightmare Zero? It's his weakness, and it stuns him, forcing him to re-start his attack pattern.
X5 was supposed to be depressing though, the Zero virus, colony crashing into the planet, the stuff that happens in the later stages(don't want to spoil anything); those events are crucial to the opening in MMZ. According to Keiji Inafune it was supposed to be the end of the Megaman X series. Zero's reappearance in X6 is a major plot hole in the MMX universe. X6 is still a pretty good game though, I love it. X7, however belongs in a trash can... terrible game.
To be more precise, at the end of X5 with either X or Z ending, Z remains as a torso with huge hole at the center and one arm. His memory chip experiences failure as well as he dies, stopping the Sigma/Z virus and the source of the Maverick virus. And that was supposed to be the end of the MMX series. BUT the fans wanted more so Z reappeared with a cheap excuse that's why everyone is reacting so strongly to his line at 7:49.

Well.. These voices are all in Japanese, and he was always acted by a man in Japan (USA was just too lazy to contact another VAs and used the same as Megaman 8 for X4. That's why X had such a childish voice). But, if you want a voice even more manly for X, you should check the Drama CDs of the Megaman Zero series.
the X and Copy X thing have nothing to do with X6. X was going to be the villain. Inti changed like a month before release because they just didnt like the idea of having kids kill their hero from the X games as a villain. So they copped out with Copy X, which allowed for an interesting story to develop afterwards with that.
Not my favorite game of the franchise, the nightmare system was a pain, the character mechanics were clunky and that jumping downward slash of Zero's was quite possibly the single most inconvenient move in the game for me. It was playable as any Megaman game goes but lacked the replay value of X5 which had they built on could've have been so much better and I would like to end with these very wise words that I learnt in MMX6 'I hid myself while I tried to repair myself' Zero

And the scene of his life flashing before his eyes before he passes.

I swear, the yammark option has got to be the most balanced, useful weapon in the game. It's basically both a sword and shield at the same time.
