I love the dark sleeper. One of the most versatile baits ever made. I use them A LOT on Michigan smallmouth. Excellent for the application Chris demonstrated here as well
Chris is like a Super Hero when it comes to bass fishing. He and Megabass have this beautiful sport dialled in and helping out us fishing enthusiasts enjoy fishing so much more. Thank you Chris and Megabass. Have subscribed 👍🏼🤝🎣
Love flippin a dark sleeper around docks and around lay downs on the bank from my kayak. At first I thought I’d get it snagged up but the fin hook guard is killer!
Anything i discovered this past summer is how well the dark sleeper skips. Amazing how far I can skip this thing. As always, thanks for there great advice!
Y'all really got to stop saying the DS is weedless. It's an exposed top hook with 2 very thin and soft flaps of plastic on either side. Those little flaps fold down very easily as soon as they touch anything. Don't get me wrong, it's a great bait and I use them all the time, but it's not as snagless as something with a fiber weed guard or a Texas rigged bait, not even close. The baits wide shape up front, and line tie angle is what really helps it slide over wood.
We recommend using colors that are similar in hue to the forage species around the areas where you are targeting. Example would be Haze is a great bluegill imitation, where Donko can be a great goby and even crawfish imitation.
I don’t really understand the point of a short leader. At the very least you might as well make it the length of your rod. Also wow that is such a heavy set up for that little sleeper hook. Most people throw them on a medium power spinning rod, not their frog rod. Using it like a flipping bait is an awesome idea though that I will definitely try
Thank you for the feedback! Though unconventional, fishing the Dark Sleeper in this manner can lead to awesome results. We look forward to hearing back after you give it a try. Thank you for trusting your bite to us!
@@MegabassAmerica I think Chris really prove to us in this video how sturdy that little hook actually is. I’ve always used it as a smallmouth bait in open water scenarios with lighter line, but clearly it’s a lot more versatile than I thought
I use 15# Seaguard red label fluoro to 30# PP braid on my 7'3" medium heavy rod. I keep a short leader about 30 inches. Stripers and Largemouth Bass love it creeping on the floor.
We appreciate your feedback. Though not 100% weedless, the dorsal fin design of the Dark Sleeper allows for it to navigate through cover easier than other offerings!
I agree, they get snaged quite easily eith the exposed hook. If you fish between dead trees and pull it up at the wrong moment you are pretty much parting ways and your dark sleeper becomes exactly that. . .
@@Twangtown7 I was referring to the Northern impoundments but hey it's all good, we have some fisheries that only produce smaller bass, but our big fish are highly pressured too.

Love how the doggo is on guard duty lol
We agree!
@@MegabassAmerica When you got the best tackle in the industry you gotta protect it! 😏🤘
I dig the Kenny Powers sunglasses!! And the rescue dog!
I have one of these and it’s about as weedless as a crankbait
Agree Mark

Awesome video of a one of the most versatile swimbaits on the market!

The Dark Sleeper is a very unique bait. Thanks for the info Chris!

Just ordered a few on Tackle Warehouse… I’ll give em a go on my annual fishing trip to Tennessee this coming March 👍
We look forward to hearing how they produce for you!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills. I learned a few pointers from you.
Chris great video love you take your dogs with!
can you show more pond or shore fishing techniques for your lures and gear?
I would love to see Zaldain back with Megabass sooner than later
That is a lip ripper technique all day long one of my favorites.
Great to hear that you have put them to work! Thank you for trusting your bite to us!
If I was into bass fishing, most definitely I would use this type of lure or jig. I'm only into trout fishing. Still this lure or jig looks awesome

What brand sunglasses is zaldian wearing?
Chris besides bass what other species of fish have you hooked into with the dark sleeper

Need to replace the eyes, mine fall of in my tackle box before I have a chance to even throw them. Not the worst problem but still
We appreciate your feedback and will pass this along to our team!
This bait is soooo easy to skip and even better because it doesn’t make a loud sound if I accidentally hit the metal parts of a docks or boat lift.
Well said! Stealth can be key in those situations!
How do you keep eyes on them?!
What kind of sunglasses are those?
How should you choose colors always confusing. The colors are weird right lol

It’s not that weed less and it’s only good for 2 to 3 fish before the body starts coming off the weight
Love the vid crazzzzy bout the fur babies pero donde esta nebo?????

yeah, not 100% weedless. But a good bait.

this dude always says "there's a good one it's a good one" then pulls up a 2 pounder
First off, this bait is NOT "absolutely weedless". Not even close. Stop lying to the consumers. I do love the Dark Sleeper, tho.

Exactly
We don't use them in FL. I guess they're ok for northern waters where a big fish is a 3# spot lol
@@bottomlinebassin2001 I'm from WI...we don't have spotted bass up north. And a 3# bass is not a big bass up here lol.
