My thing is, nintendo really needs to sort this out if they want people to stop downloading roms, I know their whole brand is built on nostalgia, so allowing whole hog instant access to their back log would be cool for a week and then people would be bored of it, and then they'd have nothing to talk about, third party support on nintendos consoles is hit or miss (due to nintendo sometimes falling ass backwards into the correct direction of market trends) so they really depend on drip feeding us legacy content on our new machines. They can't make games as good as they do as fast as everyone else can, and nintendo doesn't need nor want to just buy a company for their game library. But these prices on these old games is rediculous, and needs to be properly addressed by nintendo instead of being flat out ignored, and worse, actively antagonized, I'm telling you, if nintendo put as much money and effort into making more games or even just ports and remakes as they spend decimating a large portion of game preservation efforts, we wouldn't have this issue. For God's sake, the two biggest remake and remasters that I've been wishing for for years (so I could legally own them and maybe with a nice coat of polish) smrpg and thousand year door finally come out when the switch is on its final hours and it's already too late, they waffled around so much that I now own a steam deck and can play whatever legacy titles I damn well please, regardless of what any big corporations have to say about it. And now I probably won't be picking up the remakes. Why? Because my day one original switch, the cartridge sold is broken, and honestly the games I have bought for it (all way over priced for what they were) aren't enough for me to invest $20. And God forbid I send it into them, I'm not having them just scrap my system and give me a new one that's not moddable, which since the switch doesn't have achievements, and the online service to paid, I don't have alot of incentives to NOT do.
