I'm on the waitlist! I'm going to enjoy that 3% roth ira match with RH Gold too. It may be a pain to transfer my all-mutual fund fidelity roth though.
Many mutual funds are not supported hence those are not transferable.
Is your deposit with them insured by FDIC up to 250 like with any bank account? No tax withheld at source? Daily interest? Sounds appealing if they open to non US Residents. I don't care about the material or weight of the card but I'd like perks like Airport Lounge and, above all, free insurance on car rentals. 🙂

This is FDIC insured up to $2.25 Million in cash at their partner banks.
I never heard of an FDIC guarantee that high. I thought the maximum was half million if you have securities or 250 if you have savings. Maybe you can use the idea for a future video. Thanks!!@@BeatTheBush
They have 12 partner banks that they redistribute these funds to. Each of those has a 250k limit. Holding money yourself at those partner banks can affect your maximum insurance limits so be careful not to overlap.
Wow!! I didn't know it was possible to hold all your money on a single place while having the risk managed that way. I wonder if the FDIC actually pays us if something goes wrong because the limit is supposed to be for each investor on each institution. How can RobinHood act as an aggregator for that purpose, multiplying the guarantee that way? I wonder if the FDIC would honor it if RobinHood itself has issues and you hold more than 250. I wonder if we even get the 250K as RobinHood is an internediary that's not a bank. Otherwise, wouldn't every other bank be doing that for ages? Something sounds off. Please double check if you ever hold more than 250....@@BeatTheBush

How did you calculate your number? If you put in $44776 with an interest of 5.25% your yearly return is $2350. Thats $196 a month. Way more than the $5 monthly fee.
The calculation is based on the difference between your current interest rate and Robinhood.

companies make money off our money and want to charge us to watch it?!?!?!
I remember a really good bank ad that made fun of that and said to deposit with them for free. However, if you have a big quantity of cash, it would matter but it's the principle!!!! lol
The spreadsheet will help you calculate how much you need to break even. I hate subscription fee as much as anyone but getting 3% on an IRA transfer-in will blow away this fee by a few orders of magnitude.

Citi Double Cash pays out 2% cash back with no annual fee or recurring fee.
Edit: Now if I am using it internationally, it may be worth looking at.
There are many other benefits. 5.25% Apy, 3% IRA match. Each of those alone can pay the $5 for a lifetime.
You would have to spend $4,700 to offset the gold membership fee compared to a 2% cash back card with no fee. Not worth it, imo unless you spend more than 10k on one card.
@@jordandavidson9705 That is what I thought. I cannot ever justify spending a monthly fee or annual fee to use a card. In fact, THEY, the credit card companies should be paying ME to be using their card.
1% of 500 bucks is 5 dollars people. Its just 500 to break even vs a 2%. Anyone spending less than 500 a month shouldn’t get it, but most people spend more than a thousand a month anyways
@@the_investor9836 Don't forget that the cash back % is basically offset by everything because most, if not all, merchants include that in the pricing.
Really, when one receivers 2% cash back, they are getting back what they spent, BUT nothing additional, since it is already offset by the merchants.
