Scheme that welcomed thousand of Ukrainians to the UK after Russia’s invasion extended

- Set up to respond to the public desire to help Ukrainians fleeing the Russian invasion, the government's Homes for Ukraine scheme saw as many as 115 thousand come to live with British families.
With the war very much still in progress, the initiative has now been extended.
Our communities editor Darshna Soni has been following the stories of some of the Ukrainians who've had to make a new life here.

Difficult to imagine the mentality of someone who is welcomed into a stranger's house, effectively having their life saved, then complains about it. I'd put a clause in the agreement that anyone who did that would be on the first plane back.
Living in a rented house share I put up with foreigners (Hong Kongers and Eastern Europeans) and strangers all the time. They complain (especially the Hong Kong immigrants) and I do what I can to be accommodating but it's a one way street. I have to conform to them. They think nothing of what others want.
But I'm incredibly tolerant and bear these burdens with dignity.
If only landlord can deport the lot back to Hong Kong. Then they can complain all the want to the CCP.
Taking strangers to your home sounds really strange things to do?
I've taken in people on three occasions. Three of the dumbest decisions I've ever made.
I've done it twice. No regrets.

It's a complex story for them & their history, and needs more context than a 5 minute video.

Thanks to Henry, the anonymous donnor that gave a house to the Ukraniana mother, and all the families who joined the homes for Ukranian scheme. They are really making a difference to the refugees! I hope the scheme can be extended!
