As a woman who likes both superheros and Star Wars I'd like to ask Disney to stop pretending they know what I like and actually go back to making the shit I've liked for the last 30 years.

The problem is their new staff the last hand full of years. They hate straight people, white people, and men. They are not trying to cater to a woman audience as much as they are trying to penalize and take things away from men, such as we've seen in the Star Wars Franchise and the Marvel Universe. Selling to Disney is the worst thing any long standing franchise can do. They need a mass firing and restaffing there immediately, but they won't do it I'm sure, for fear of getting sued. South Park hit the nail on the head as to what is going on over there. To end on a nice note, I will say though that I thought Madame Web was the first decent thing they've done in awhile. It was a good origin story and I'm glad I checked it out. My husband even liked it surprisingly.
The only dwarf actor offended by Snow White was Peter Dinklidge, other actors that were interviewed were angry thay the roles were changed and at the assumption that they were offended by the movie

If they wanted to update the story to fit a modern flavor, why didn't they just make it a "found family" message? Think about it...a Princess being abused by her evil step-mother escapes after said Stepmother tries to kill her. She stumbles upon a dilapidated house owned by 7 orphaned brothers who were never taught how to clean or cook for themselves. In exchange for hiding her, she teaches them how to cook and clean, and in return, they teach her how to mine for gems. Together, they grow their jewelry business and live together happily. Then the evil stepmother comes and finishes the job, killing the Princess, and the dwarves break the spell by killing the witch. Doesn't that sound like a much better story? Hey, maybe Snow White's prince could be a dude who is mesmerized by the pretty, kind-hearted jeweler who he occaisionally runs into at the market when she's selling her gems.
The 7 dwarfs had a cottage in the middle of a huge estate, and they were mining diamonds and all sorts of precious gems. If anything, they were swimming in money.
Seriously! I really wonder if Peter Dinklage even watched the original movie? They never lived in a cave. They probably chose the location because it was nice, peaceful, and within walking distance to work. They may be small, but they're strong due to their occupation, they have a very nice house, and probably are the source of all the jewels in the kingdom because they most likely OWN A GODDAMNED MINE that is obviously nowhere near depleted.

The original cinderella used magical shoes to curse her step family to dance to death, the original little mermaid turned into sea foam. The dwarfs in Snow White and the seven Dwarfs are more akin to gnomes appearance wise. They could've easily just changed the wordage from Dwarfs to Gnomes and probably would have been less 'problematic'
Walt Disney fought tooth and nail to get the original Snow White made. If Snow White didn't succeed, the animation industry would not have expanded into what it is today. That is why, one can argue, that Snow White is the most important animated film ever made. Rachel Zeigler, who has done nothing but show complete disrespect to the original film, was cast by Disney in the leading role. If that wasn't insulting enough, Walt always believed in creating ORIGINAL projects and shunned the idea of creating sequels and remakes to his own work. Disney is no longer interested in keeping the integrity of Walt's vision. They are exploiting the familiarity of the Disney brand to make easy money and continuing to reuse the same IPs over and over and not have to worry about doing any hard work themselves. Every other remake is insulting like this, but Snow White, in particular, based on the movie that made Disney what is it is now, might be the biggest insult to Walt they could've done.

They were also the heros of the OG fairytale and movie. They took Snow White in after she Goldilocks herself on them, they employed her, in the fairytale they save her 2 times prior to the apple bit, in the movie they are the ones who chase down and kill the evil queen, they're the ones who build her a glass coffin and mourn her with the animals. They basically adopt her as their child/housekeeper (in the movie Bashful and Dopey are the only ones to show some semblance of attraction towards her, all the others act more like fathers and coworkers to her, with Grumpy and Doc being the most protective of her.). In the OG fairytale a prince just comes along and wails over how pretty she is that the dwarves take pity on him and allow him to try to load her on a wagon and they drop her and dislodged the apple. In the movie, SW had met Prince Florian prior and he'd asked for her hand, kicking off the evil queen finally deciding to off SW out of jealousy. (This was cut due to time constraints and instead put into a comic that was given out at the start of the movie to give context that Disney was sure the audience needed). That's why Disney chose to portray her waking from a kiss instead. Now despite all this, I do wanna point out, in the OG fairytale (at least by Grimm's version) Snow White was *7* when it all takes place, and the evil queen planned to EAT her (she eats the liver and lungs the huntsman brings back). In the movie version she is 14, and Queenie just wants to stuff her heart in a box. Oh and Prince Florian is apparently 31. Yeah there's alot of f*cked up things going on in that story, but the dwarves definitely weren't the problem.
as someone who makes costumes for cosplays. why the fk do the costumes look so shit. i think its cuz theres no ageing on the clothes. they all look like the actors picked them up from spirit halloween on the way to work
Most of the princess dresses from the live actions have absolutely sucked balls. Emma Watson, who can go f herself, ruined Belle's dress because of "feminism"... and ruined the movie for the same reason and the fact she can't sing her way out of a paper bag. I don't even care for the Cinderella dress, it's the best of them and it's still "meh".
Disney replaces dwarves with people of varied nationalities, heights, and genders, so as to be inclusive and not disparage dwarfism. People lash out about more unnecessary replacements for the sake of "representation." Disney sees the reaction and replaces the replacements with CGI dwarves more akin to the original. Other people lash out about replacing the representation and/or causing a real life/animation disjointed hybrid. You just can't win in this situation. Disney, you lost the moment you tried to play this stupid game. Should've cast actual men with dwarfism to portray the dwarves so as to stay true to the original, celebrate that it's giving work to them, and emphasize that it's fantasy. Go about your day and ignore the vocal minority who try to say it's somehow disparaging to have shorter people be displayed as caring, heroic, and loyal.
What really interesting though is in the original one they know she’s royalty. The second she says her name they say the princess and she says yes however in the OG movie from Disney, she doesn’t act like a spoiled pampered princess like a sweet, caring young lady, and that shows when she cleans their house, but this one definitely spoiled, pampered, entitled princess, who clearly never had to do anything.
They come back from a hard day mining and she tells then to clean their house to her satisfaction when she's squatting there putting them in danger as she's a fugitive. Really comes off as entitled brat telling people to do something that's not their job because their not happy rather than the original showing gratitude by trying to do something they don't have time for.
6:40 it’s worse than that, Nux. In the cartoon Snow White is directing her animal companions who are there to help. In the L.A. Shite brown is commanding the dwarves themselves, who have just spent the while day mining.
Lmao I never even thought of that. Instead of asking her animal friends for help or just cleaning herself, she's literally making the dwarfs who just came back from a hard day of mining do a bit of forced labor. 😂
It's worse, they are being made to clean their home (somewhere a bunch of male blue collar workers living in the woods) to the satisfaction of a princess who's had servants doing all her cleaning for her. She's also a fugitive and squatting in their home putting them all in danger yet she's ordering them around as if they're the cleaning staff she's used to bossing around. Love to see her reaction when one of them gets drunk and pees in the sink cause it's convenient or throws up after getting drunk.
@@Senkoau Tbf in the OG movie the Evil Queen forces SW to be a scullery maid in hopes to make her look uglier. She's even seen washing the stairs in her little wooden clogs at the beginning of the movie. So the character actually does know how to cook and do housework, but there's no telling in Rachel's monstrosity if she ever acts as a maid and knows how to do any cleaning/cooking.
Peter Dinklage is the WHOLE reason they didn’t cast actual little people to play the 7 dwarves because of his BS take which has really pissed off people with dwarfism in the entertainment industry. Same thing happened with the Time Bandits remake. They had actually cast a couple with dwarfism and then after he made those comments the production company ghosted them until finally telling their manager they were “going in a different direction”. All of this after they had gotten passports since filming was in New Zealand and arranged for child care. Way to pull that ladder up behind you Peter.

That "actress" thinking that the prince stalks Snow White just proves she knows nothing of the source material. Even in the old Disney animation they'd known each other since childhood and were already in love from the beginning of the film (they literally sing about it). That's why he went looking for her later and ultimately said goodbye to her with a kiss at the end when he thought she was dead. I would say Disney should try making something original that hasn't been done before but last time they did they shat out Wish. And even that was some bland, stitched together by AI Frankenstien's monster made from elements of past works. Even what Disney is known for such as Snow White, Cinderella, Mulan, Frozen, et cetera... are just them reinventing very old folktales that had been forgotten. What do they actually have that's original? Maybe if people in the film industry focused on making a good film in general, instead of trying to aim it at a specific gender, then they'd make something that everyone can enjoy. Maybe have the aimed demographic be people who enjoy an interesting story :v Wild, I know.

There is no angle of that statement that you can't unsee it as an attempt to capitalize as him being one of the few if not the only successful dwarf actors in Hollywood. So now the 7 dwarfs go to the mines to work from sun to sun and can go back home (their house, not hers) to a person they barely know telling them what to do. Also the original is not dated, it is timeless and needs no change.

Hollywood is so far out of touch with people outside of itself. The lack of perspective has them completely forgetting what fun is. Quite sad that the entertainment industry has forgotten or actively ignored the reason people go to movies or play games is to be entertained to escape the norm if only for a few hours. How can you expect anyone to enjoy a performance or a product when your lack of passion or any connection bleeds through so clearly.
Yeah I just want like, a good story told well. Pretty much nothing from Hollywood appeals at all these days bar the rare thing like Deadpool & Wolverine. Don't care what the message is as long as it's good.

The funny thing is: is that instead of shelving the project when it originally got bad; (which was when there was an image leaked that it was actually going to be Snow White and the Seven Average Sized-Bandit-Magical Creature-Things(their words, not mine)) Disney instead pumped MORE money into this sinkhole, and this is the end result of all of that. The funny thing about all of this is that they’re not gonna even come CLOSE to breaking even with this.

because "live action" sells better than "CGI focused remake" would. There's an assumption people want to see these classic things with real actors even though the animated medium has so much to do with why we liked them to begin with........
The friendly woodland critters kinda need to be CGI. That's a lot of trained animals to expect to work together with no issues. As for the rest? Sure. CGI probably wasn't needed.
Think the problem I see from this movie is... The girl who played snow white said something about she didn't like snow white.. And somehow Disney was like.. Yup we'll cast her... After all this they still didn't think about recasting her???
They could pick a Snowwhite from one of the Parks and it would be ten times better. And for the love of money cast some real f***ing people as Dwarves.
That is what Disney does. Like with Star Wars, they only cast people and/or hire directors who actively dislike the IP or think the IP needs updating. Look up behind the scene interviews with the director of the LOTR trilogy. The man did nothing but respect the source material and change what needed to be changed for a live action adaptation of a fantasy world. Turns out it just takes passion and respect for the world you're creating within.
Honestly I feel they're just shooting themselves in the foot and yeah, its pretty clear Rachel didn't watch the original cause she missed the whole point! It happens a lot with Cinderella, too, but the entire point of the original is Snow White trying to become more independent getting away from her abusive stepmother when she hires someone else to try to kill her and tries to make a new life for herself and happens to come across the dwarves who help her. In the original movie, Snow White is also super young. She's 14 I'm pretty sure, so she's not just gonna ge taking charge right away. Her stepmother made her act as pretty much her servant also like Cinderella, so she uses her knowledge on cleaning and cooking to help the dwarves, and in turn, they let her stay. The only scene she bosses the dwarves around is when she told them to wash up before dinner, which they're miners so I'd argue that's reasonable. They've been digging through dirt and coal and rock for diamonds all day. Honestly, for the time, the story is already fairly progressive. They show a young girl using what knowledge she has to take care of herself and she does take charge, just not in super authoritative way. She still treats the dwarves kindly and with respect. They are letting her stay at THEIR home. Can't princesses be nice? Yeah, she wasnt working to be a leader or the next monarch, but also she's 14 and hasn't really had a chance to grow up. Probably best she's not a queen yet. And the prince was barely in the original movie already. Man legit only had two scenes in the original. Wouldn't it be more progressive to develop the relationship and give them more time together? I know they had to have added more stuff to the movie for the characters to do cause the original movie is pretty short by current movie standards. Have the prince realize she's in a bad living situation with her stepmother when they first meet and sing together and try to convince her to leave before she gets hurt. Have him coming by the castle grounds to visit her and check on her and then notice she's gone and that inspires her to go out searching for her hoping she's okay. Then he happens to find her after she's settled in with the dwarves for a bit and they get to have a cute reunion. It could also be a good moment for them to spend some time together at the dwarves cottage and kind of have something similar to the Campfire scene in Tangled. Have them talking about their situations and let Snow White talk to him about her stepmom and he can try to empathize and support her. Could also use them together as a nice excuse to see the dwarves being surrogate father figures them having different reactions to the prince like wanting to get to know him cause Snow White has talked about him or maybe being distrusting and protective of her. Honestly, after that they can have the dwarves going to mine the next day and have a reason for the prince to have to head back, probably to make plans for Snow White to be able to come with him and be welcomed into his kingdom, and then have the evil witch come in with the apple and the dwarves and the prince are racing back to find her " dead ". Then thats when we can have the kiss scene with her in the glass coffin and we can have the prince give a eulogy and a heartfelt confession that he loved Snow White and expressing how he wished he could've saved her and be a really sad and sweet moment for Andrew Garfield to get to show off his acting chops. He kisses Snow goodbye but then suprise! She's alive and we got a happy ending! And also have the dwarves played by real actors cause, good lord anything would be better than the fricking CGI. I understand CGI for the animals, but not the dwarves, please.

so the funny thing about "standing on the right side of history" is that there very well may come a point when history won't be learned from old books and scrolls, but through a camera that can look backwards through time. history will be /seen/, not speculated. so when you choose to "stand on the right side of history", make sure your intentions are pure, or history will call your bullshit.
@@Temperans correct. If you look close, you'll notice things the one piece live action did different (using it as a example because it was brought up earlier). Examples being, garp chasing luffy, zoro is less "anything for my captain" then he was in the manga, kuro was alot ( alot ) sloppier in the live action, ect. These differences do not make it worse however. You and i, and everyone else, still thinks it was good. The characters do not have to be the same as the source material. What needs to happen is the director needs to make a good story. Which the directors of the one piece live action (bless their souls) did. These directors, honestly, might have made a ok adaptation of the story. The issue here (it seemes to me) was purly actor choice. Not having actors for the dwarfs, having your real life actors say stupid shit, yadayadayada. Anyway, ive yapped enough. tldr: your still correct

The problem with some folks pushing diversity today, is they make it WORSE. Such as “anti-racist” white folk whose white guilt makes them infinitely more racist than they ever would’ve initially been if they didn’t obsess over how much melanin is in one’s skin. These people EMBODY “the road to hell is paved with good intentions.” These people tend to infantilize people of color, remove them of their agency, act as if they’re “too stupid” to figure basic crap out, etc. It’s horrible, and makes my heart ache for colored folk. Here's something that I think most people who criticize the original Disney version of forget: Snow White is canonically 13-14 years old and is named "Fairest of them All" because of her kind and gentle nature. The mirror is basically saying that while she is still young, she shows potential to become the most beloved person in her kingdom simply because she is a generous and compassionate person, even with her being a princess. I mean, think about it-- first scene we see with Snow White, and what is she doing? Chores! She is working hard to maintain the palace just like any of the staff members (who we never see outside of the huntsman), and she's doing so cheerfully. She doesn't see herself as being above anyone else despite literally being born as a princess. That further reflects when she first gets to the dwarves' home, and she goes, "Oh! The furniture is small and the house is a mess! Welp, someone needs to step up and help these strangers I haven't even met even though there is no guarantee that they'll even let me stay afterward!" It isn't just a naivety that makes her kind (though, you could still say she is at least *a little* naive, but can you blame a 13-14 year old who's been sheltered her whole life up until last week?), it's her selflessness and willingness to help even if it is no benefit to herself, *AND THAT* is why she is dubbed The Fairest of the All.
Actually she technically already was in the original, even if she didn't realise it in some versions. I even vaguely remember the version I read having the mirror straight up say "She has something you can never have, inner beauty, a beautiful heart." And the queen wanted Snow's heart to eat... In this case she'll have to be jealous of inner beauty, not because of any moral message about being a good person, but because Snow's hair is hideous and doesn't help her mid face.
Non ironically, that likely would have been a significantly better movie. Snow white becoming a worse person due to not being the most beautiful and the evil queen becoming better to gain inner beauty. Add a lot of sarcasm and comedy in that and I am sure you could bang out something decent.
When Disney fired up the live action machine, i was convinced that they would not be brain dead enough to go for Snow White, Pocahontus and Mulan. Now they're 2 for 3. Only an AI can mess up this bad because they dont say No. Need a profound lack of awareness to look at the script and think its ripe for modernizing. The special needs frat house. Women fighting about beauty standards. A female character wholly dependent on prince charming to rescure her.

My husband is a HUGE starwars fan. He's watched every movie and TV series back to the Clone Wars animated series, played every video game, has read behind the scenes books and knows so much star wars trivia that he won a starwars trivia contest with some really obscure questions. He was determined to give the acolyte a fair chance... he made it 5 episodes.
3:28 The reason Steam-boat Willie went public domain is because Disney hasn't used that version of Mickey Mouse in decades. That's also why Mickey Mouse, as he's generally seen, won't be public domain any time soon. Copyright does expire, if it is not maintained, either by the creator or publisher/production company. Is that why Disney is doing so many remakes? Who knows. But it is a possible explanation that can happen.
They should seriously stop overpaying actors. They get more than the movie is typically worth. If anything should be on strike, it is for realistic pay regulations for celebrities..
My brother and I convinced our mom to buy stock in Marvel around the time HeroClix came out. Now all our Marvel stock is Disney stock (which we voted against) and the value has plummeted. I really want Disney to succeed, but the direction they're pushing their movies is just horrible. The amount of fighting that Ryan Reynolds and his people had to do to keep Disney from ruining Deadpool and Wolverine is a prime example of how bad things are.

The original Disney story had far better characters plus Disney technically rewrote the Brothers Grimm story to a happy ending instead of the Prince taking Snow White’s casket to his castle to “Protect & Memorialize” her.
Disney actually HAVE lost its exclusive copyright protection over Steamboat Willie and that version of Mickey Mouse. As of January 1st 2024, it entered public domain. Only of that version of Micky though, and Disney still have trademarks associated with the character.

To defend the idea of the original Snow White story's use of Dwarf miners: I have heard that the idea of the mining, blacksmithing dwarfs living in or near the mountains comes from how they were treated in Norse communities, who believed they were and treated them as sacred beings who were sent to live in enclaves in the mountains where they would make a living mining, blacksmithing and acting as seers for the Norse leaders and Vikings about to leave on a raid. Compared to other treatments throughout history this is less simply benign and could be called positive treatment, let alone the abuse seen in other places. So their inclusion in northern European folk lore beyond the Norse lands seems pretty normal and acceptable. It basically makes the story a period/fantasy story instead of just fantasy. That said probably good to inform them about this and ask the public at large for their opinion of the matter and not just one rich famous one.
I'm still a bit triggered that Snow White played by a latino, which makes this not Snow White. After all, in the book, it's written as a girl with white as a snow skin, from a German perspective. But I guess it's easier to do a remake than think of something new. Not like Africa has that many stories.... Oh wait!

If they wanted to update the story to fit a modern flavor, why didn't they just make it a "found family" message? Think about it...a Princess being abused by her evil step-mother escapes after said Stepmother tries to kill her. She stumbles upon a dilapidated house owned by 7 orphaned brothers who were never taught how to clean or cook for themselves. In exchange for hiding her, she teaches them how to cook and clean, and in return, they teach her how to mine for gems. Together, they grow their jewelry business and live together happily. Then the evil stepmother comes and finishes the job, killing the Princess, and the dwarves break the spell by killing the witch.
Doesn't that sound like a much better story? Hey, maybe Snow White's prince could be a dude who is mesmerized by the pretty, kind-hearted jeweler who he occaisionally runs into at the market when she's selling her gems.
And just like that, a UA-cam comment had a better plot line than the billion dollar company.

They probably chose the location because it was nice, peaceful, and within walking distance to work. Walt Disney fought tooth and nail to get the original Snow White made. If Snow White didn't succeed, the animation industry would not have expanded into what it is today. That is why, one can argue, that Snow White is the most important animated film ever made. Rachel Zeigler, who has done nothing but show complete disrespect to the original film, was cast by Disney in the leading role. If that wasn't insulting enough, Walt always believed in creating ORIGINAL projects and shunned the idea of creating sequels and remakes to his own work. Disney is no longer interested in keeping the integrity of Walt's vision. They are exploiting the familiarity of the Disney brand to make easy money and continuing to reuse the same IPs over and over and not have to worry about doing any hard work themselves. Every other remake is insulting like this, but Snow White, in particular, based on the movie that made Disney what is it is now, might be the biggest insult to Walt they could've done.

They were also the heros of the OG fairytale and movie. They took Snow White in after she Goldilocks herself on them, they employed her, in the fairytale they save her 2 times prior to the apple bit, in the movie they are the ones who chase down and kill the evil queen, they're the ones who build her a glass coffin and mourn her with the animals. They basically adopt her as their child/housekeeper (in the movie Bashful and Dopey are the only ones to show some semblance of attraction towards her, all the others act more like fathers and coworkers to her, with Grumpy and Doc being the most protective of her.). In the OG fairytale a prince just comes along and wails over how pretty she is that the dwarves take pity on him and allow him to try to load her on a wagon and they drop her and dislodged the apple. In the movie, SW had met Prince Florian prior and he'd asked for her hand, kicking off the evil queen finally deciding to off SW out of jealousy. (This was cut due to time constraints and instead put into a comic that was given out at the start of the movie to give context that Disney was sure the audience needed). That's why Disney chose to portray her waking from a kiss instead.
Now despite all this, I do wanna point out, in the OG fairytale (at least by Grimm's version) Snow White was *7* when it all takes place, and the evil queen planned to EAT her (she eats the liver and lungs the huntsman brings back). In the movie version she is 14, and Queenie just wants to stuff her heart in a box. Oh and Prince Florian is apparently 31.

Most of the princess dresses from the live actions have absolutely sucked balls. Emma Watson, who can go f herself, ruined Belle's dress because of "feminism"... and ruined the movie for the same reason and the fact she can't sing her way out of a paper bag. Peter Dinklage is the WHOLE reason they didn’t cast actual little people to play the 7 dwarves because of his BS take which has really pissed off people with dwarfism in the entertainment industry. Same thing happened with the Time Bandits remake. They had actually cast a couple with dwarfism and then after he made those comments the production company ghosted them until finally telling their manager they were “going in a different direction”. All of this after they had gotten passports since filming was in New Zealand and arranged for child care. Way to pull that ladder up behind you Peter.

That "actress" thinking that the prince stalks Snow White just proves she knows nothing of the source material. Even in the old Disney animation they'd known each other since childhood and were already in love from the beginning of the film (they literally sing about it). That's why he went looking for her later and ultimately said goodbye to her with a kiss at the end when he thought she was dead.
I would say Disney should try making something original that hasn't been done before but last time they did they shat out Wish. And even that was some bland, stitched together by AI Frankenstien's monster made from elements of past works. Even what Disney is known for such as Snow White, Cinderella, Mulan, Frozen, et cetera... are just them reinventing very old folktales that had been forgotten. What do they actually have that's original?
Maybe if people in the film industry focused on making a good film in general, instead of trying to aim it at a specific gender, then they'd make something that everyone can enjoy. Maybe have the aimed demographic be people who enjoy an interesting story :v Wild, I know.

The funny thing is: is that instead of shelving the project when it originally got bad; (which was when there was an image leaked that it was actually going to be Snow White and the Seven Average Sized-Bandit-Magical Creature-Things(their words, not mine)) Disney instead pumped MORE money into this sinkhole, and this is the end result of all of that.
The funny thing about all of this is that they’re not gonna even come CLOSE to breaking even with this.

Look up behind the scene interviews with the director of the LOTR trilogy. The man did nothing but respect the source material and change what needed to be changed for a live action adaptation of a fantasy world. Turns out it just takes passion and respect for the world you're creating within.
Honestly I feel they're just shooting themselves in the foot and yeah, its pretty clear Rachel didn't watch the original cause she missed the whole point! It happens a lot with Cinderella, too, but the entire point of the original is Snow White trying to become more independent getting away from her abusive stepmother when she hires someone else to try to kill her and tries to make a new life for herself and happens to come across the dwarves who help her. In the original movie, Snow White is also super young. She's 14 I'm pretty sure, so she's not just gonna ge taking charge right away. Her stepmother made her act as pretty much her servant also like Cinderella, so she uses her knowledge on cleaning and cooking to help the dwarves, and in turn, they let her stay. The only scene she bosses the dwarves around is when she told them to wash up before dinner, which they're miners so I'd argue that's reasonable. They've been digging through dirt and coal and rock for diamonds all day. Honestly, for the time, the story is already fairly progressive. They show a young girl using what knowledge she has to take care of herself and she does take charge, just not in super authoritative way. She still treats the dwarves kindly and with respect. They are letting her stay at THEIR home. Can't princesses be nice? Yeah, she wasnt working to be a leader or the next monarch, but also she's 14 and hasn't really had a chance to grow up. Probably best she's not a queen yet. And the prince was barely in the original movie already. Man legit only had two scenes in the original. Wouldn't it be more progressive to develop the relationship and give them more time together? I know they had to have added more stuff to the movie for the characters to do cause the original movie is pretty short by current movie standards. Have the prince realize she's in a bad living situation with her stepmother when they first meet and sing together and try to convince her to leave before she gets hurt. Have him coming by the castle grounds to visit her and check on her and then notice she's gone and that inspires her to go out searching for her hoping she's okay. Then he happens to find her after she's settled in with the dwarves for a bit and they get to have a cute reunion. It could also be a good moment for them to spend some time together at the dwarves cottage and kind of have something similar to the Campfire scene in Tangled. Have them talking about their situations and let Snow White talk to him about her stepmom and he can try to empathize and support her. Could also use them together as a nice excuse to see the dwarves being surrogate father figures them having different reactions to the prince like wanting to get to know him cause Snow White has talked about him or maybe being distrusting and protective of her. Honestly, after that they can have the dwarves going to mine the next day and have a reason for the prince to have to head back, probably to make plans for Snow White to be able to come with him and be welcomed into his kingdom, and then have the evil witch come in with the apple and the dwarves and the prince are racing back to find her " dead ". If you look close, you'll notice things the one piece live action did different (using it as a example because it was brought up earlier). Examples being, garp chasing luffy, zoro is less "anything for my captain" then he was in the manga, kuro was alot ( alot ) sloppier in the live action, ect.
These differences do not make it worse however. You and i, and everyone else, still thinks it was good. The characters do not have to be the same as the source material.
What needs to happen is the director needs to make a good story. Which the directors of the one piece live action (bless their souls) did.

Here's something that I think most people who criticize the original Disney version of forget: Snow White is canonically 13-14 years old and is named "Fairest of them All" because of her kind and gentle nature. The mirror is basically saying that while she is still young, she shows potential to become the most beloved person in her kingdom simply because she is a generous and compassionate person, even with her being a princess. I mean, think about it-- first scene we see with Snow White, and what is she doing? Chores! She is working hard to maintain the palace just like any of the staff members (who we never see outside of the huntsman), and she's doing so cheerfully. She doesn't see herself as being above anyone else despite literally being born as a princess. That further reflects when she first gets to the dwarves' home, and she goes, "Oh! The furniture is small and the house is a mess! Welp, someone needs to step up and help these strangers I haven't even met even though there is no guarantee that they'll even let me stay afterward!" It isn't just a naivety that makes her kind (though, you could still say she is at least *a little* naive, but can you blame a 13-14 year old who's been sheltered her whole life up until last week?), it's her selflessness and willingness to help even if it is no benefit to herself, *AND THAT* is why she is dubbed The Fairest of the All.

Actually she technically already was in the original, even if she didn't realise it in some versions. I even vaguely remember the version I read having the mirror straight up say "She has something you can never have, inner beauty, a beautiful heart." And the queen wanted Snow's heart to eat...
In this case she'll have to be jealous of inner beauty, not because of any moral message about being a good person, but because Snow's hair is hideous and doesn't help her mid face.
Non ironically, that likely would have been a significantly better movie. Snow white becoming a worse person due to not being the most beautiful and the evil queen becoming better to gain inner beauty. Add a lot of sarcasm and comedy in that and I am sure you could bang out something decent.

To defend the idea of the original Snow White story's use of Dwarf miners:
I have heard that the idea of the mining, blacksmithing dwarfs living in or near the mountains comes from how they were treated in Norse communities, who believed they were and treated them as sacred beings who were sent to live in enclaves in the mountains where they would make a living mining, blacksmithing and acting as seers for the Norse leaders and Vikings about to leave on a raid. Compared to other treatments throughout history this is less simply benign and could be called positive treatment, let alone the abuse seen in other places.
So their inclusion in northern European folk lore beyond the Norse lands seems pretty normal and acceptable. It basically makes the story a period/fantasy story instead of just fantasy.
That said probably good to inform them about this and ask the public at large for their opinion of the matter and not just one rich famous one.
I'm still a bit triggered that Snow White played by a latino, which makes this not Snow White. After all, in the book, it's written as a girl with white as a snow skin, from a German perspective. But I guess it's easier to do a remake than think of something new. Not like Africa has that many stories.... Oh wait!
