  • A very strong line of severe thunderstorms made their way east into New Jersey into the late/overnight hours on Saturday night and early Sunday morning. This was a very impressive and downright fierce storm. Most thunderstorms this month haven't really been too impressive or spectacular for that matter until this one struck tonight. This storm featured a massive amount of lightning, very strong gusty winds, heavy but quick rainfall, and some very loud thunder. In fact, this storm was so intense that the NWS sent out a tornado warning for Somerset, Middlesex, Morris, and Union counties as the storm had the potential to have rotation embedded within it. This was probably the best severe weather I've seen so far this year as most other previous storms we've had lately haven't been anything to write home about. A hook echo actually did show up on radar over Roselle Park, NJ in Union County, but it did not actually produce a tornado. This thunderstorm was later confirmed to be a supercell.

I remember this night. It was a ridiculously powerful thunderstorm late that night. Thankfully, no tornadoes occurred.

I just checked, yupp this was the exact same storm cell that hit my neighborhood. We went under a severe Thunderstorm Warning from this but boy I wasn't expecting all the wind to come in the way it did and that lightning was the most constant I've seen in years. Once again great footage!!

This storm was huge and it affected most of northern New Jersey and all of NYC and western Long Island. The lightning was constant and never stopped. The best thunderstorm I ever witnessed was back on September 16th 2010. That storm did produce two separate tornadoes in both Brooklyn and Queens and killed two people. I was in my second year of high school and I was 15 went it happened. Amazing storm.

This past summer was intense. I hope this summer will be even more epic. I'd like to see a twister in my backyard one day just to see one. I've never seen a tornado ever.

I stood up late tracking it's progress and came out onto my balcony just to see it. Was well worth the wait last night.

Holy cow!!! I'm subscribing to ya!! Finally someone that caught exactly what I filmed out here in Cypress Hills Brooklyn. I think this is the same exact storm cell that hit us, it produced so much wind, rain and lightning I thought a tornado was coming through the neighborhood. Thank you so much for uploading! This storm cell was one to remember.

I missed this because I’m currently in South Carolina for vacation but I looked at the ring in my backyard this morning when I woke up the lightning was crazy

As of right now I'm not 100% sure if indeed a tornado was reported or on the ground somewhere but the tornado warning was issued for my area. The warning was also in place for Florham Park, NJ and that general area as well.

It's crazy there wasn't no confirmed tornadoes from this storm cell. It certainly did have potential

@DivinityzBeAsT , radar indicated hook echo showed up right over Roselle Park, NJ but it never produced a tornado. That's only 20 minutes east of me. Crazy!

Dude, first pick a shot and stick with it. Idunno, if it was another one of your videos or not where I already complained about this. All you're doing is making people motion sick. Even if you see lighting in a different spot, just stick with the more active shot and occasionally pan over to the next shot. You have some the best footage of anyone else, and the sweeping back and fourth just ruins it. Next, you caught some awesome footage, I've never seen a storm where the rain begins before the lightning gets a lot closer!👌👌👌🙂🙂🙂
