    I use a PVC beam as well - but I REALLY like the barrel system to catch the scrapings. That is genius! That is going to save me a lot of cleanup time this season. Thanks for sharing your system.

    Nice fleshing set up! I like how the pvc is locked down to the base. Can you give some idea of the dimensions of the pvc beaver beam? Maybe measure down in a couple of places on the centerline and across to the side at each spot? Thanks. Looks like a REALLY sturdy base!

      the beaver beam is exactly half of a piece of 10'' pvc. the top 6'' are slightly tapered and rounded off so there are no sharp edges. make it as wide as you can. so you don't have to turn the pelt so may times. hope this helps.

    • @MrJoe11young
      @MrJoe11young 7 років тому +2

      So half is about 15.5" ? and you taper it up to 6" for the beaver beam? Is that correct? I finally found a piece of 10" PVC (55" long & green) and I'm excited to make some beams like yours. Thank you Stu.

    Just had a couple questions on your beam. I have some 12" pvc pipe, thoughts on whether that would work very well or not, I use the same Necker fleshing knife as well. Next question was on how long the 4x4 is that extends up from the base that has the locking mechanism on it as well as where at on that 4x4 you placed that locking mechanism. Thanks

    would you be willing to give dimensions on the width and radius of your individual beams. I don't have any wire stretchers and am trying to make these. Thanks for the videos, First year and am learning a bunch from you!

    • @spicysocks4492
      @spicysocks4492 Рік тому

      They are easy to make, if you search up the nafa dimensions for any stretcher like persay a coon stretcher, get a large piece of cardboard and write out the dimensions on it, then transfer it to the pvc, he also as a video on making stretchers that should help you with figuring out those measurements which you can apply to the cardboard instead of wood. The radius of the beams are the curve of a 10in diameter of the pvc pipe, so in general its a gentle slope and you can determine the slope by putting your knife curve on there and go with his video showing the curve of it really. Hope this helped a bit

    Very well done as always. what makes the PVC "click" into the beam? As far as I can see, there is just a seperation of around 3/4" due to the stacking of he wood.

    • @CoonCreekOutdoors
      @CoonCreekOutdoors  10 років тому +1

      The gap created by stacking the wood is slightly smaller than the thickness of the pvc. so when i push the beam into place the upper piece of wood flexes a little as the beam sets its self into the notch. this tension along with the notch and grove is what holds the beam in place and keeps it stable. hope this helps, kinda hard to explain in words.

    Great looking set-up. I've got a question. If all your beams are 10" PVC how do you shape them? The beaver beam looks so much wider than the others I'm wondering how you did it? It almost looks like you flattened it out somehow. The beam on the stand is probably the size I need, did you do any other modification to the PVC (like flatten it) other than cutting it to shape? Thanks!

    • @CoonCreekOutdoors
      @CoonCreekOutdoors  8 років тому +3

      +Michael Brigman 10'' is the diameter of the pipe. to obtain a wider beam simply cut more of the pipe out. it will still have the same curve just have a larger face.

    how does locking part work on your pvc beam ? what is making click ? got everything else just cant figure the locking part out like all videos your good teacher

    • @CoonCreekOutdoors
      @CoonCreekOutdoors  8 років тому

      +csbarthelemy93 basically the upright piece that the beam snaps into is slightly thinner than the thickness of the beam. So when ever you set the beam into the holder the upright puts pressure on the beam.

  • @COTroutHntr

    Hi great video! I am definitely going to make one of these. Can you tell me should I keep the same angle for elk and deer? Also should I make the beam as wide as possible like your beaver beam? I will probably use this for other critters but for now I just have an elk hide to do. Thanks!

    • @CoonCreekOutdoors
      @CoonCreekOutdoors  7 років тому +1

      The angle is only personal preference. As far as the width goes you can only go so wide with pipe before the curve does not help you. You still need to be working in front of yourself.
