Dude this is ridiculous. First it would just turn off randomly and take awhile to turn back on. Now I'm lucky if I can even turn it on at all. It will take like 10 minutes of holding the power button over and over. And then it will turn on randomly sometime after I'm not even touching it anymore. Sometimes it will turn off as soon as I swipe on the unlock screen and then I'm out of a phone for a good 20-30 minutes until it decides to magically work again. This is a major issue especially since I'm out on deployment rn.
Idk if you guys care but I figured out my problem. Something must have came loose inside the phone at some point because I could hear a part rattle around inside when I turned it in my hand. Depending on how I moved it, the screen would work. Very shoddy design, because I've dropped phones before and never had that problem. I did the process of turning it in through the mail and getting another one free through my provider (I had a warranty). I dropped it about one foot off the ground a week ago and it instantly started rattling exactly like the last one. It's got full protective casing. No issues with the screen as of yet but I'm thinking it's only a matter of time before this one starts acting up too. I make it sound like I drop my phone a lot but I don't. Any time I dropped a pixel it wasn't more than about a foot off the ground. Never had the hardware completely come loose inside any other type of phone from a drop before either. Definitely going to influence my next purchase.
I'm reading at this very moment that that rattling noise is normal because it's the OIS and it helps with camera stabilization. So the rattling may not have been correlated to the issue. I specifically remember checking this new phone when I got it to see if it rattled though and it did not at first. It only started rattling after I dropped it. Regardless, whether the screen would turn on or off on the first phone was influenced by how I turned the phone in my hand, so I'm convinced it was still a hardware issue.
many years ago i had a "google phone" under the name of Nexus. it did exactly this - the black screen of death. less than two years ago, i decided to buy a "better phone" after having a Blu phone for 4 years, and bought a Pixel 6a. The Pixel 6a has done the same thing the Nexus did (both google phones). shame on ME for giving a google phone a second try. NEVER AGAIN. i'll keep buying budget phones at $300 or less that last 4 years, rather than $500+ phones that last less than two years.

I had tried a long power press -- but the key was the whole 30 seconds. That fixed it. Thanks for this video!!!!

I had to hold my power button down for longer than 30 seconds so keep pressing it until the Google logo appears.

@@marcusnoel3964 put it on the charger for about a minute. Hold the power button for 30-60 seconds. It will power back on.
