With the rise of the spread offense in the NFL over the past several years, it has become more important than ever for defenses to be able to field a small army of cornerbacks that can all hold their own in man coverage. Enter the nickelback, which for many teams has become a de facto starting position that can matchup with the league's premiere slot receivers and take away those easy checkdown throws out of three-wide formations.
LSU's Tre'Davious White is one such nickelback, and furthermore he's one of the best nickel prospects in the entire 2017 Draft class. Not only is he quick enough to survive a one on one battle with the likes of Julian Edelman or Randall Cobb in space, but he's experienced enough to handle coverage duties out on the boundaries from time to time as well. If you value versatility, technical polish, and leadership more than just raw physical tools, Tre' White is the corner for you.
