Same with my two. I have them out to play in Ferret Disneyland upstairs and downstairs a LOT….but it’s mostly the sweet little dooks…not the squeaks here.

He’s a cheeky wee sod but a wouldn’t change him for the world. They are lovable wee creatures they just want love and attention. Their also great company.❤️
We had a really, really vocal ferret, she passed away in November, but she would squeak and yap and honk all the time, we thought she was unusually talkative for a Ferret, it turns out she was actually deaf~ Hearing these little fellas reminds me of her lots~ very cute~

Yes! Oh my goodness the mess! I just deep-cleaned and rearranged the ferret room, so now they've chosen two new places to start pooping and peeing. So we added a potty pad and litter box to one corner that used to have stuff in it, and put blankets and toys in another spot that they have sometimes gone in the past. It's like an adventure, finding what creative place they've decided to use as a toilet today. Not to mention flinging litter and food and water everywhere. They bring me so much joy that they're totally worth it.. but I do warn prospective ferret parents that they have to be ready for a LOT of cleaning! :D
My little boys, Oscar and Oliver, don't make much noise, but when they do. They're very loud. Their dooking is a little bit lower than a regular Jills. Lmaoooo, I love your ferrets in the video, and I hope you and your ferrets are doing well :)
Mine sound like that when in full wrestle play like those two. Then they'll break apart and chase each other while making the (dooking) chitter-giggle.
It's so cute! But also I sometimes hear it from across the house and think maybe someone is in trouble, like has a paw stuck somewhere or something, so I run over there and no, it's just these two playing. :D

ferret play looks rough but they are happy & having fun .. its when they star hissing its a real fight , ever heard them hiss at each other .....??? they do it when they get angry , & will skunk you when realy pissed off

They usually also have poofy tails, but that could just be because they're excited, too. But when they're fighting, somebody's probably gonna poop. One of my coworkers also thinks they're like rats and is phobic, so I had to remove all my ferret themed zoom backgrounds. :\ I'm working on a presentation about ferrets that shows how they are NOT rodents, I'll upload to UA-cam if I ever finish. ;) A heads up though: ferrets are lots of work and require specialized care, so I encourage anyone who wants a ferret to do lots of research first! My fursona is a ferret, and my gf's fursona is an arctic fox, I think the fox is more noisier than the ferret, but I am way less noisier than them, lol
I am not sure how common this kind of vocalization is. Both our boys do it, none of the girls do. But I dunno if that means it's more common in males, or if that's just how it turned out for us. :)
As long as none of them are pooping in fear, and nobody is bleeding, it is very likely just playing. I uploaded a video of some rough play and some actual fighting, hopefully that can give you some insight!

Thank you! We never smack our ferrets, as it's not a good way to train animals. I did not put any effort into stopping Onyx from biting when she plays, so she still bites really hard. I learned my lesson though. With the rest of our ferrets, when they bite me I react as if they hurt me very badly. I say "Owww!" very loudly and pull my hand away, and then stop playing with them for a minute. They aren't hurting us on purpose, we just have much thinner skin, and are more easily hurt than other ferrets. So by letting them know very clearly that they've hurt you, they learn to be more gentle when playing with you. That said, ferret kits do of course need chew-toys to help with teething!

Yes, Jasper and Rusty only squeak like this when playing together. The girls don't do this at all. Though from other comments I think it's based on personality, not gender. Some people have said their girl ferrets do this too! After having had dogs, it's nice to have ferrets that are much more quiet. No barking! :D

We have 6 ferrets. Our girls make this noises when Princess is on a war path but she is biting too hard. They hiss a lot when one hurts the other ( not saying they are ). Our boy does a low dook sound. Princess will do that sound when he is hurting her back. As I said we have girls and 1 boy, never had more the one male. So do not know how they act to each other.
@@kwsapphire yes but are 2 sweetest that do girt no one are out 2 youngest. Our snow aka born in May is as big as a male. I do need to know a few things about male behavior thou. We need to find anther Hub. Our is 6 yrs. Old still plays but does not want to knock princess out off heat. The shot now cost 109.00 dollars each time and the surgery is going to cost 700 dollars. So we have to save. What do I have to watch out for with males. I know our girls tail wiggles like a snake when they want to play woth the dog. Stuff like that to give you clues.
I've seen all 3 of our oldest ferrets (2 girls, 1 boy) wag their tails briefly while playing. I don't think I've seen our youngest 2 do it, but we are also now using opaque tubes. All of our ferrets were spayed/neutered before we got them so I don't have any experience with them going into heat.
@@kwsapphire only princess was from a breeder. So she still has her butt glands. Super stinky lol. She has to be forced by a male to be brought out of heat or she can bleed to death. Like most people know breeding them is a big chance of losing the mother during birth aka her mother. The vets said they can not make new blood while they are in heat. So what blood they have before seasoning is all the blood until it is over. The shot is only suppose to work for a month but we got luck it last her about 2 months. This is just 411 for those whom read that do not know much about ferrets. Ours are free range aka they have the whole house all day long. We do take them outside for a bit each day. We do have 2 meat eaters, then rest eat kibble. It can be a lot of fun. But meat eaters will wake you up like a small baby every 3 to 4 hours for a feed thou.
@@aleta9134 Have you thought about getting Princess spayed? I am so glad I don't have to worry about it with any of my girls. I read early on that females must either be spayed, breed, or die. How terrifying!
You have MUCH noisier ferrets than mine. One of mine dooks a lot when playing, but the other is silent almost all the time
Our boys tend to be the most vocal! Out girls will dook from time to time, but they never make this much noise. ^_^

This is called talking. This is a sound to many ferrets who are vocal. Some hiss, some dook, some talk and some say nothing at all.

It's playing, they are really tough animals.
As long as none of them are pooping in fear, and nobody is bleeding, it is very likely just playing. I uploaded a video of some rough play and some actual fighting, hopefully that can give you some insight!
if the yelping one actively seeks the other and isn't just being chased around, that's usually a good sign
