I have this problem with multiple styles, sometimes I like to work for children and sometimes for adults, I get bored if I have to do the same thing over and over, actually, trying new things is my main reason for creating art, but I wonder if it's OK to show the different subjects/styles on the same social media account. And I have interests in other forms of art too, so it's such a mess😄
I totally agree with you. One of my main reasons for pursuing a creative career is to follow my own curiosity - be in subject matter, medium, style, etceter..... I can understand there could be a tendency to bounce around endlessly - but I think it's so important to not get stuck in the "style neurosis" too much..... Personally.
Same situation here. I think I might have ADHD. Anyway, I show them all in my Instagram just to document my progress. Which is probably why I haven’t monetized my art.😂
@@irismaguire I think it's okay in the beginning! I'm really a big believer in different styles. I've slowly been able to monetize my editorial work and I just got some surface design licensed! But I do think it takes a lot longer if you are trying different markets / styles at one.
At 12:00 minute mark you really make a great point. Sticking to one style to get monetized for it. I like playing around with new styles and mediums but I agree I need to pick one and stick with it.
I kind of like pursuing more than one market at once. I did focus only on editorial for a while, but I had patterns lying around forgotten so reached back out to surface design companies and got a licensing offer. I've participated in editorial illustration contests and surface design contests and have gotten (some) success with both. I probably *could* grow faster if I focused on only one market, but I think I'd be unhappy. And one style - I just can't seem to narrow down that much. I've decided I just do digital for editorial and that tends to streamline my style *a bit.* I understand "art is a business" but if I just wanted any biz to make $ I could choose something else or have a day job that's remote. I chose this for the exploration. Just my two cents!
I'd always thought I'd prefer to do comic style work and pinups, because I enjoy figuritive art. But at the same time, with my limited social skills maybe develop a line of stationary, to sell on Etsy. Do I want to combine those two? possibly, I don't have to. Part of it is just tryign to keep yourself excited and work it one day at a time.
I have a very basic question. In all her videos, why does she use a keyboard with one hand and draw with the other? What is the keyboard being used for?

@@HannahMorenDraws Wow, that’s great! For years I was mostly just making art for fun, but now I’m thinking about monetizing it.

This was so helpful, I love how you get into the specifics with examples, not just vague ideas. Thanks!

Hello mimi, will the Squarespace promo code work for renewal or just initial purchase? Thank you..
I believe it's just for new members!

Program shortcuts.
Yes I'm using Photoshop so it lets me use shortcuts rather than clicking around the screen all the time 😊
