Totally agree, love your teaching method. This was proposed for our 5 piece band (2 guitars, bass, drums, vocals), and this video shows exactly how we should approach this song.
Great presentation! I was meaning to get some tabs for this song, but it’s been kinda hard to get an official version. This version actually works, and it can be tweaked to our heart’s content.
Great Lesson. Learning this song for my band and your stuff was right up my alley. I like to incorporate different parts in a song and not just play it like the record. Subbed and will check out your other stuff. Now I have to work out how to sing this at the same time as playing it.
Great lesson for saving time and picking this song apart! Tuning down 1/2 step doesn't hurt. Everything falls into place then. All the riffing is based in the open E strings. Add a bit of chorus and yer there.
The song is in Ebm but the bass and guitar are tuned down half a step, which means they play it in the Em position. The open low E string brings all the groove.
I'm going to have my guitarist look at this. He's a newbie, and for some reason eschews UA-cam.com, so each week he is behind in getting songs down. At first I wanted to choose "I Don't Remember" as my Peter Gabriel song, but this is definitely more popular and accessible which at present is what we need more of...
Not being a troll bro. But not all songs need distortion and dominate by guitar. Especially this one. Guitarist have lost the art of laying back and enjoying the groove in which your bandmates are loving ... This song is so groovy. Let it be
Depends on your line up… if all you have is guitars then there’s nothing for the guitars to sit quietly behind. I play in a four piece with just bass, drums, vox and one guitar…. Everyone has to work to fill out the sound. I think this guy is demonstrating how to create a big sound with limited instruments. He’s doing a great job. I share your sentiment on guitarists that shred over everything but that is not what is happening here.
I absolutely love how you teach and I've been trying to find a good teacher to follow for the past 5 years that I've been teaching myself...
Glad you dig it matt! Join us!
@@Guitargate I think I may...

I didn’t know that Bradley Cooper played guitar so well! Nice job!

Michael...you're the BOMB....exactly the thing most of us are looking for...how do we cover this jam with the band we HAVE....!!

Very nice lesson:) David Rhodes certainly lays down some tasty grooves and textural guitar parts to Peter Gabriels great songs.

Boppin' my head through this whole video. That's when you know both teacher and song is funkay af 🖖😅
How does that Bb / Ab harmony sound so good?
He does the keyboard sweep riff later on in the song live instead of the at beginning
Nice job! you should do more like this Rapture would be good !
Could you tell me what kind of guitar you are playing in this video? Thanks!
Looks like a Paul Reed Smith custom 24

Far out, what he was playing was hardly dominating. Spacious, tasteful and complementarty was my interpretation.
@@Aaaaaargh7 listen to the original.. come on now....I'm not saying he isn't a good player. I'm just saying he's way over playing this one....

Sounds like single coils on the record
Killer Song. Play Loose
This song grooves so hard but it seems boring to play
