passed the brick laying part of my course. the lecturer said there was no hope for me until i started watching ur videos and now i have passed the practical with ease
You guys do an amazing job and always keep the work area tidy. I’d definitely use you for windows and doors. I’ve been a joiner 17 years but i really dislike working with plastic.
Hi Robert we never do that because it does weaken the cill in the past I have seen cill curl Never do it on rosewood or coloured stuff thanks for watching
Hi Stu just a quick one am I right in saying you only need to seal the vertical parts of PVC patio door frame to house exterior brick work as well as top horizontal framework and that no damp proof material is needed, what stops water/rain penetration from being drawn in from outside to interior of house? do you use waterproofing sealer on exterior brickwork?
Love your vids mate. Very good at showing how's things are done. Just wanted to ask how the frame of these doors are attached to the cill that you glued to the bottom brickwork please? And is the frame just screwed on the 2 vertical parts of the frame too? Keep up the good work Stu & KC. Also get well soon 👍🏻
There plastic kick plates that go around the outer frame of the door. You can fix to the cill underneath the fixed frame before if you take it out and there’s a kick plate in front of the master door that you can pull off and can fix to the cill through there so the fixings are concealed .should be at least 4 fixings down each side and you can fix the head of the door to the lintel if you need to but you shouldn’t need to on a door that wide
Slot head screws ahhhhhhhhh , your dads mate Barry does he keep pigeons in his spare time ( use a rag scurvy bugger ) nice work again , keep it up stu 👍👍😂😂
Will be diying a similar job soon but need to make sure there is no drafts when i'm finished as house is very exposed. Do u ever use airtightness tape guys? Or is the sealant enough do u think?
Hi Stu, really useful vids and thanks for uploading them. I want to replace a window with sliding doors, but I'm unsure about whether I need to support the brickwork above. I don't see a lintel visible and have been told that might be because there's a steel plate type running along the lower edge of the course of bricks. Any suggestions about which way I should go about it please?
Ya he mirado muchos de sus trabajos de cambio de ventanas y marcos, lo que no se es si los pernos o tornillos los ajusta directamente por el ladrillo o usa tacos de pvc o tarugos....? quien me puede contestar.
Hey Stu 👋, First, we hope your ankle is feeling better, and 2nd, when you guys are working putting glass in doors and windows, is it harder to do when the wind is blowing the way it was on this day, or does it not really have an affect on the job?
Hi Andrew the frame was measured to perfection that is what you have to do on this type of door if you look on the inside there is a perfect amount of frame showing if you don’t reduce these doors you could lose your frame on the inside hope that answers your question thanks for watching👍😉
No silicone on the cill before you lifted it in?... Also you're supposed to take the covers off the sliders either side of the jams so you don't see the fixing screws 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

Hi ged How old is the building
If you are keeping the existing aperture width and just removing down from fill to floor then the existing lintle will be sufficient.
Great video! Which expanding foam did you use?
stu!! you should of jumped on the lifting and let KC do the recording LOL
He's done his ankle in buddy.
Tell you what stu , Kc good with that sealant gun 👍
Do you fix through the top of the frame into the brickwork lintel as well?
I don’t believe you do
J G I do believe you don't.

It was pretty windy but we managed it sherry 😁
👍
Can you set the cill on a bed of silicone or does it have to be expanding foam??
Blarn a feckin hooly down there wor kid 💨
Seemed like a big gap round that frame, did you foam the gap ?

Buy some dust sheets ;-)
Hi Dave we’ve got dustsheets lots of them but the old curtains are so much better on wooden floors so that’s what we use on that type of job👍😜
