Good reporting, finally someone outside the Sri Lanka who wants to report the true unbiased situation in Sri Lanka

I think this is the most unbiased foreign media coverage we have so far seen of the situation.

People started noticing and looking favourably at JVP after they formed the NPP coalition with many other progressive elements in SL and also offering there single national list seat in parliment to Ms Harini Amarasooriya (who is not a JVP member)

There is nothing progressive about jeppas, its a fascist group riding on peoples frustration

    Unbiased reporting. Unlike Palki Sharma.

Excellent, well articulated conversation. Both Ms. Subramanian and Ms. Srinivasan have a clear and deep understanding in Sri Lankan modern history and politics. Their knowledge is substantial in comparison to many citizens of the island and a handful of so-called journalists on both sides of the Palk Strait.

This is the only interview I've watched so far from Indian media that didn’t seem biased. It focused on the actual situation on the ground rather than creating panic among viewers by labeling the new Sri Lankan president as a 'Marxist' who could potentially harm India's geopolitical interests in the region. The president has repeatedly emphasized that he will neither conduct nor support any actions that might threaten India’s geopolitical standing. In fact, he clearly acknowledged India’s crucial role in Sri Lanka's recovery and the mutual benefits of maintaining strong relations between the two countries.

@nissankaseneviratne5241 No she's an Indian. But she's been a correspondent for the Hindu for over a decade, as the video mentions. She has probably learnt how to pronounce correctly after having lived in Sri Lanka and reported fron there for long.

Very well articulated and great analysis indeed! Your choice of words couldn’t have been better. Hope to hear more from you guys outside in views in future. Please do continue to cover sri lanka / colombo as you see in future too. We need that view to ensure what we know / do is seen in same way too by (at least by) our big brother neighbor.

This wasn't that much close race. Anura won the election by a clear margin of 12 lakh votes. Other candidates promised tons of relief and pay raises, but people made him president to root out corruption and reform the country! Also, NPP is ideologically left-wing populist and working-class centred. ☺

I disagree that JVP is not a Sinhalese nationalist party. They were against the divide-and-conquer concept that imperialist countries are pushing on Sri Lanka. Especially when we have an example in India when they divided India and Pakistan millions of people were being killed.

Why don't you called Anura KD a "principled politician". Without doubt he will have to be pragmatic in that he will know what he can do and what he cannot at any given time, but he did not compromise his principle by opening the door to the failed politicians who knocked on his door, unlike the other two contenders. He has already demonstrated that he means what he says by entering into office without wasting public money unlike his predecessors who made the event a grand tamasha. By conducting a clean campaign he changed the way political conversations are conducted. There has been no post election violence or celebrations which rivals predicted if he came to power. Give the man his due.

More socialism in an already socialist state will bring even more corruption and misery. AKD was the worst pick of them all, he is just talking while being very vague in how he's going to implement his policies and in how sustainable they are. Simply people have voted for him in masse as a sign of frustration, but nonetheless an extreme blunder by a population that all these decades has taken bad choices with their country's management

I don't know of any non-indian wanting to be part of India. India as a country is a mess and with so many issues, maybe indians should start focusing about themselves rather than outside.

As a Sri Lankan I am partial to a union for economic and travel purposes between the two countries, but it is better to keep politics separate. I am absolutely to dying to shop and travel in India, happy to spend my money there. Also buying Indian made vehicles and tech is something i would like to do ❤.
