    Im tired of the snow here in Idaho…. It’s been absolutely miserable this winter. The snow load in trees is so heavy that every single tree you cut it’s a complete whiteout. The snow is warm enough that it’s not very good traction… I’ve had a few wild rides down the hill. I’m ready for spring break already ha. Merry Christmas

    • @thedailylogger
      @thedailylogger  Рік тому

      Man, that sounds tough. It's still early too. I've worked in heavy snow, I know what you're saying about the white outs, you really have to just stop til you can see something! It doesn't show up as much with a hotsaw but I can remember running barsaw and the saw compartment would build up so the saw wouldn't retract full, have to stop and dig it out. And those sleigh rides too, no fun, specially when you get a long one and instead of stopping you're picking up speed! Hope you had a good holiday. Good luck to you brother! Be safe.

    Thank you again for another fine video Jason. It’s been such a pleasure to watch…you’re very professional in all you do…please keep the content coming. If I may ask… could we have longer videos of your cutting…I know sometimes some think it’s boring…but really it’s not…it’s a real art in what your doing day to day..please longer videos will be much appreciated
    I.e can’t wait for tether machine…any time line when this will happen
    Thanks again to you and your wife for doing this
    All the best in the new year

      Hi Craig. Thanks so much! We really appreciate your support and interest. We've got some long ones coming up! Stay tuned. The guys in the shop worked their way through the 470 and she's ready to get moved up to Summit this coming week. I had time last week to swing into Summit and Eric Krume gave me a tour of all they've got going on, very impressive. They really have it going on. So once they get it and can get started on the engineering their schedule shows 14 weeks to get her wrapped up! That puts us into mid April. I am stoked! I am going to try to get in there and get some footage of the conversion process so that should show up on the channel regularly. Heavy Fabrication is very cool I think so I'm looking forward to showing as much of that as I can. I just moved in on a new unit and started cutting on Thursday. It's a good one but it's got some tough ground too, anyway, I'll get some footage this week. Thanks again, hope you're having a good holiday and good cuttin to ya! Be safe

    Have you ever had anyone complain about the back up alarm because my father did one time because I get noise complaints when I bring processor down into the woods and back up to the landing

    • @thedailylogger
      @thedailylogger  Рік тому

      Thanks for asking. It's funny, I don't even hear it, just kinda screen it out. The tree farm that we work on requires it, so it's just the way it is. I wouldn't shut it off even if it wasn't a requirement, it's just like any safety device, it only works if it's on and it sure beats running over somebody because it wasn't on. I don't feel that safety, or a safe attitude is any kind of imposition on me - 40 plus years into it it's worked for me! Thanks for asking, it's a good question. Good cuttin to ya!

    You don't use your Auto tilt. I use that most of the time on my 830

    • @thedailylogger
      @thedailylogger  Рік тому

      I don't have that option on my 870. Sounds as though it works well for you? If I remember right I demoed a Timbco a long time ago that had that system on it and I was not impressed, it adjusted the machine too much made it like riding a bucking horse. But that was a long time ago technologically and a Timbco too. Hope your winter is going well, happy new year to ya! Be safe.

      @@Hennes003 It's an '18, we took delivery in December '17. What you're describing sounds like a good system. It would be slick for leveling it up at the end of the day for maintenance too. I'll add that to the list, maybe it's standard now. I made the pitch to my Boss to keep this machine a couple more years, or until I start running into downtime, so we could get a line machine for me. 14 weeks or so and that should be done! Pushing 7200 hours on this one right now and, knock on wood, nothing serious. It's a hell of a Buncher. Do you have the tall 28's for pads? Josh Wantowski told me that he's got those on his new 855E and wouldn't go back to the 24's. How's that 635 Swing Boom holding up for you guys? Another Timber Animal from Tigercat I'm thinking! Our lowboy operator moved one for Triad over to Eastern Oregon a week or so back, I told him he should bring it up to one of our sides and tell them he had to unload it to get turned around! Good talking with you, be safe!

      @@thedailylogger I have the 28s but not the tall once. I have heavy corks and if I have any ice build up at all I will keep hitting my cab with them. I rather have the low old once with corks then the tall once with corks. Corks are a must in our terrain. 635 swing no was the first one in North America and only the second one ever build. They did upgrade some beefier cylinders and we took the front duals off which made a huge difference climbing up the hills because of the lesser weight and she is just as stable and now easier to low bed of course. Ours is still the G and pretty sure the H are somewhat better yet. She works amazing on the tether either uphill or downhill skidding. By downhill skidding she pretty much cuts the cycle time in half by bringing the skidder back up the hill so much faster instead of going around somewhere if you can and dropping down.
      Good talking to you Jason. Love your videos and like sharing experiences.
